Thank you for selecting this YAMAHA NS-525F speaker system.

PRECAUTIONS

Read this before using the speaker.

•

To assure the finest performance, please read this manual
carefully. Keep it in a safe place for future reference.

•

Install the speaker in a cool, dry, clean place – away from
windows, heat sources, sources of excessive vibration,
dust, moisture and cold. Avoid sources of humming
(transformers, motors). To prevent fire or electrical shock,
do not expose the speaker to rain or water.

• To prevent the enclosure from warping or discoloring, do
not place the speaker where it will be exposed to direct
sunlight or excessive humidity.

• Do not place the following objects on the speaker:
Glass, china, etc.

If glass etc. falls by vibrations and breaks, it may cause
personal injury.

A burning candle etc.

If the candle falls by vibrations, it may cause fire and
personal injury.

A vessel with water in it

If the vessel falls by vibrations and water spills, it may
cause damage to the speaker, and/or you may get an
electric shock.

• Do not place the speaker where foreign objects such as
water drips might fall. It might cause a fire, damage to
the speaker, and/or personal injury.

• Do not place the speaker where it is liable to be knocked
over or struck by falling objects. Stable placement will
also ensure better sound performance.

Speaker System

• Placing the speaker on the same shelf or rack as the
turntable can result in feedback.

• Never put a hand or a foreign object into the port located
on the rear of the speaker as this might cause personal
injury and/or damage to the speaker.

• When moving the speaker, do not hold the port as it
might cause personal injury and/or damage to the
speaker.

• Any time you note distortion, reduce the volume control
on your amplifier to a lower setting. Never allow your
amplifier to be driven into “clipping”. Otherwise the
speaker may be damaged.

•

When using an amplifier with a rated output power higher
than the nominal input power of the speaker, care should
be taken never to exceed the speaker’s maximum input.

•

Do not attempt to clean the speaker with chemical solvents
as this might damage the finish. Use a clean, dry cloth.

• Do not attempt to modify or fix the speaker. Contact
qualified YAMAHA service personnel when any service
is needed. The cabinet should never be opened for any
reasons.

• Secure placement or installation is the owner’s
responsibility.
YAMAHA shall not be liable for any accident caused
by improper placement or installation of the speaker.

PRECAUTIONS WHEN POSITIONING THE SPEAKERS

The speaker is constructed with the majority of the weight
located in its upper portion, and is thus susceptible to falling
over if proper care is not taken to insure its stability. If the
speaker falls over, it may damage the speaker or be the
cause of injury (or even death) to persons and/or damage to
personal property.

For safe and proper use of the speaker:

• Position the speaker in a location that is solid, level,
smooth, and low (with respect to the floor).

• Do not push or apply pressure to the side of the speaker
when moving, or lean objects against the side of the
speaker.

• Do not sit on or set objects on top of the speaker.

Vibrations or jolts associated with earthquakes and other
phenomena or activities may cause the speaker to fall over.
For safety reasons, using commercially available products
that increase stability in the speaker is recommended
(metal fittings or chains, etc.).

Use the stands included with the speaker to increase
stability:

Be sure to use the stands regardless of where the speaker
is positioned. Attaching the stands included with the
speaker reinforces the base of the speaker not to fall over.
Please be cautioned that even though the stands are
connected, this does not guarantee that the speaker will not
fall over.

ATTACHING THE STANDS

When placing the speakers, be sure to use the stands to
increase stability.

Note:

• The provided stands are in two types. Two stands are

for the right side and others are for the left side. Attach
each stand to the proper position on the bottom of the
speaker by following the figure below.

• When attaching the stands to the speaker, have

another person support it.

• To attach the stands to the speaker, be sure to lay

down the speaker while the front is facing up. We
recommend using a blanket or cushion (thickness of
3 cm or more) to raise the speaker from the floor.

Procedure:

Put the 6mm screw through the large hole on the

stand, and screw it into the speaker at one of the
outside holes on the base of the speaker.
At this time, screw it untightly so that the stand can still
be moved.
Put the 4mm wood screw through the other hole on the

stand, and screw it into the other hole on the base of
the speaker.
Tighten both of the screws firmly.

Attach a pad to the bottom of the end portion of the

stand.
Attach the other stands to the other corners of the

base of the speaker in the same way and confirm that
all 4 stands have been firmly attached.

Note:
Be carefull not to apply force to the side of the speaker,
otherwise the speaker may fall causing damage to the
speaker or personal injury.

CONNECTIONS TO YOUR AMPLIFIER

This speaker system is capable of standard connections and bi-wired connections. Before making
connections, make sure that the amplifier is switched off.

• Connect the screw-type input terminals at the rear of the
speakers to the speaker output terminals of the amplifier
(or receiver) with the speaker cable.

• Connect the (+) terminals on the amplifier (or receiver)
and the speakers using one side of the cable. Connect
the (–) terminals on both components using the other
side of the cable.

• Connect one speaker to the left (marked L) terminals of
your amplifier, and another speaker to the right (marked
R) terminals, making sure not to reverse the polarity
(+, –). If one speaker is connected with reversed polarity,
the sound will be unnatural and lack bass.

How to connect:

1 Loosen the knob.
2 Remove the insulation coating at the extremity of each

speaker cable by twisting the coating off.

3 Insert the bare wire.
4 Tighten the knob and secure the cables.

Test the firmness of the connection by pulling lightly on
the cables at the terminal.

this could damage the speaker or the amplifier, or both
of them.

• Do not insert the insulation coating into the hole.

The sound may not be produced.

Bi-Wired Connections

This speaker system is capable of bi-wired
connections. To connect the speaker to the output
terminals of the amplifier (or receiver), two pairs
of cables for each of mid-range/woofer and
tweeter used instead of standard connections.
This type of connection decreases the modulation
distortion caused by electric resistance of the
cables and driving current of the speakers.
Consequently, purer sound quality can be
expected.

To utilize bi-wired connections, remove the short
bars from the terminals first, and then connect the
mid-range/woofer and tweeter to the amplifier
separately using two pairs of cables.

■ Using as 2ch stereo speakers

Better stereo images will be obtained when the speakers
are slightly angled in towards the listeners.

■ Using as front speakers in a multi channel
system

Position the speakers on both sides of the TV. The
positioning of speakers is important, because it controls the
whole sound quality of a multi channel system. Set up the
speakers on the basis of your listening position by following
the owner’s manual supplied with your amplifier.

The front cover is fastened to the enclosure at six points
and can be removed if desired. To remove the cover, hold
on to both sides and slowly pull straight away from the
speaker. To reattach, line up the six holes on the inner
surface of the cover with the six corresponding pegs on the
speaker and push gently.

Note:
When the cover is removed, take care not to touch the
speaker units with your hands or to exert excessive
force with tools.

but there is still a chance that placing it too close to a
TV set might impair picture color or create a buzzing
noise. Should this happen, move the speaker away from
the TV set.

Pour garantir les meilleures performances possibles, lire ce manuel avec
attention. Le garder dans un endroit sûr pour une utilisation ultérieure.

Installer cette enceinte dans un endroit frais, sec et propre, loin de
fenêtres, sources de chaleur et d’endroits où les vibrations, la poussière,
l’humidité ou le froid sont importants. Eviter les sources de
bourdonnements (transformateurs, moteurs). Pour éviter les incendies
ou électrocution, ne pas exposer cette enceinte à la pluie ni à l’humidité.

•

Pour éviter que le coffret se gondole ou se décolore,
ne pas placer l’enceinte à un endroit ou elle sera exposée
aux rayons directs du soleil ou à une trop forte humidité.

• Ne pas placer pas les objets suivants sur l’enceinte:
Verres, porcelaine, etc.

Si les verres, etc., tombent sous l’effet des vibrations
et se rompent, ceci risque de causer des blessures.

Une bougie allumée, etc.

Si la bougie tombe sous l’effet des vibrations, ceci
risque de causer un incendie et des blessures.

Un récipient contenant de l’eau

Si le récipient tombe sous l’effet des vibrations et que
l’eau se répand, ceci risque d’endommager l’enceinte
et/ou de causer une électrocution.

•

Ne pas placer l’enceinte dans un endroit où des corps étrangers
comme des gouttes d’eau peuvent tomber. Ceci peut causer un
feu, des dommages à l’enceinte et/ou une blessure corporelle.

• Ne pas placer l’enceinte à un endroit où elle risque d’être
renversée ou percutée par des objets tombants. Un
endroit bien stable améliorera aussi la qualité du son.

• Si l’enceinte est placée sur la même étagère ou dans le

Si des distorsions sonores se produisent, réduire le niveau
sonore en baissant la commande de volume de l’amplificateur.
Ne jamais laisser de “pincement” sonore se produire sur
l’amplificateur. Sinon, l’enceinte risque d’être endommagée.

Lorsque l’on utilise un amplificateur dont la puissance de sortie
nominale est supérieure à la puissance d’entrée nominale de l’enceinte,
il faut veiller à ne pas dépasser l’entrée maximale de l’enceinte.

Ne pas essayer de nettoyer cette enceinte avec des diluants
chimiques, ceci endommagerait le fini. Utiliser un chiffon propre et sec.

Contacter un dépanneur YAMAHA qualifié en cas
de nécessité de réparation. Le coffret ne doit jamais
être ouvert pour quelque raison que ce soit.

PRECAUTIONS A PRENDRE LORS DU POSITIONNEMENT DE L’ENCEINTE

L’enceinte a été dessinée de manière à ce que la majeure
partie de sa masse soit située dans sa portion supérieure, ce
qui la rend potentiellement instable si elle est mal installée. Si
une enceinte tombe, elle risque de s’endommager ou de
provoquer des blessures corporelles graves (ou même la mort)
et/ou de provoquer des dommages à des biens personnels.

Pour une utilisation correcte et sûre de l’enceinte:

• Placer l’enceinte sur une surface plane, solide, droite

et basse (par rapport au niveau du sol).

• Ne pas pousser ou appliquer une force excessive sur

l’enceinte en cas de déplacement, ou laisser des objets
en appui contre le côté de l’enceinte.

• Ne pas s’asseoir ni placer d’objets sur l’enceinte.

Les vibrations et les secousses accompagnant les
tremblements de terre ou d’autres phénomènes naturels
peuvent faire tomber l’enceinte.
Il est recommandé d’utiliser des dispositifs améliorant
la stabilité et disponibles dans le commerce (comme par
exemple des attaches en métal ou des chaînes, etc.)
pour des raisons de sécurité.

Utiliser les pieds d’enceinte fournis avec l’enceinte afin
d’améliorer la stabilité:

Il est nécessaire d’utiliser les pieds d’enceinte
indépendamment de leur position d’installation.
Le montage des pieds d’enceinte fournis avec l’enceinte
renforce la base de l’enceinte et empêche cette dernière de
chuter. Veuillez cependant prendre compte du fait que
l’installation des pieds d’enceinte ne garantit en aucun cas
le fait que l’enceinte ne risquera jamais de tomber.

Utiliser les pieds d’enceinte afin d’augmenter la stabilité des
enceintes lors de son positionnement.

Remarque:

• Les pieds d’enceinte fournis sont de deux types.

Deux pieds d’enceinte sont pour le côté droit et les
autres pour le côté gauche. Fixer chaque pied
d’enceinte sur la position appropriée au fond de
l’enceinte en suivant la figure suivante.

• Pour fixer les pieds à l’enceinte, demander à une autre

personne de soutenir l’enceinte.

• Pour fixer les pieds à l’enceinte, poser l’enceinte avec

la face avant dirigée vers le haut. Nous vous
recommandons d’utiliser une couverture ou un coussin
(3 cm d’épaisseur au moins) pour soulever l’enceinte
du sol.

Placer la vis de 6 mm dans le grand trou sur le pied, et

la visser dans l’enceinte sur un des trous extérieurs à
la base de l’enceinte.
Laisser néanmoins un peu de jeu afin de pouvoir
encore déplacer la vis.
Placer la vis à bois de 4 mm dans l’autre trou du pied,

et la visser dans l’autre trou à la base de l’enceinte.
Visser fermement les deux vis.

Placer un patin sur la partie basse du pied.

Placer les autres pieds aux autres coins de la base de

l’enceinte de la même manière et vérifier que les 4
pieds sont fermement fixés.

Remarque:
S’assurer de ne jamais appliquer une force excessive
sur le côté de l’enceinte, car l’enceinte pourrait alors
tomber et s’endommager ou blesser quelqu’un.

CONNEXION A VOTRE AMPLIFICATEUR

Ce système d’enceintes peut recevoir des connexions standards ou à deux fils. Avant de réaliser les
connexions, assurez-vous que l’amplificateur est hors tension.

• Connecter les prises d’entrée à vis, à l’arrière de vos
enceintes, sur les prises de sortie d’enceinte de votre
amplificateur (ou récepteur) avec un câble d’enceinte.

• Connecter les prises (+) de l’amplificateur (ou du
récepteur) et des enceintes en utilisant un fil du câble.
Connecter les prises (–) des deux composants en
utilisant l’autre côté du câble.

• Connecter une enceinte aux prises gauches (marquées
L) de votre amplificateur et l’autre enceinte aux prises
droites (marquées R), en faisant attention de ne pas
inverser les polarités (+, –). Si l’une des enceintes
a ses polarités inversées, le son ne sera pas naturel
et manquera de graves.

Pour faire la connexion:

1 Desserrer le bouton.
2 Retirez la gaine d’isolation à l’extrémité de chaque

câble d’enceinte en tortillant la gaine pour la dégager.

3 Insérer le câble dénudé.
4 Serrer le bouton pour fixer solidement le câble.

Vérifier la solidité de la connexion en tirant légèrement
sur le câble au niveau de la borne.

Remarque:

• Ne pas laisser les câbles dénudés entrer en contact

les uns avec les autres. Cela risquerait d’endommager
l’enceinte et/ou l’amplificateur.

• Ne pas insérer le revêtement isolant dans l’orifice.

Cela risquerait d’empêcher la reproduction du son.
