Installation and safety precaution Keep away from heat, humidity, dust, and objects that vibrate Do NOT locate the unit in places of high temperature or humidity, such as areas nearing the radiator, oven, etc, and places dusty or close to vibrating objects. Drastic shocks can also result in damages to the unit. Hence, be gentle and careful while moving the unit.
Store the unit under ventilation
Store the unit in well ventilated place; avoid leaving objects around the vent of the unit. To avoid fire accident, there should be at least 10CM space between the ambient objects and the rear panel and the right and left sides of the unit; and at least 20CM space from the top surface.
Use standard outlet
1. High-tension AC, as the current for air­conditioners, can cause danger, damages of the unit, or a fire.
2. Do NOT use DC, especially on a ship or other places where DC is used.
3. To avoid electric shock, please use appropriate plug and suitable socket
Unplug from electricity if the unit is not to use in long term
As long as the power cord is connected to the socket, despite that the unit is turned off, it is still connected to 220V high tension AC. Hence, please unplug the outlet if you decide not to use it in a long time.
Power Cautions: do not open!
CAUTION!
Do not repair the unit by yourself or re-systemise it. There are no spare parts provided for such case. Reparation has to be performed by professional electricians. Self-repairing and relocation of any internal parts can generate further difficulty for the engineers and cause danger for the unit as well as for yourself.
PRECAUTION!
Do NOT let your kids insert any objects into the unit, especially metallic objects. Coins, screws and other small metallic items can cause serious electric shock or misfunction. If water is found splashed into the unit, it can cause serious electric shock and fire. In this case, please first disconnect the power and handle carefully. Insect spray, ethyl products, and thinner can age the plastic parts and deform the appearance of the unit. In occasions, spray can even lead to a fire accident.

SAFETY INFORMATION
Installation Warnings
Ventilation Slots and openings in the case are provided for ventilation to ensure reliable operation of the video product and to protect it from overheating. These openings must not the blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or heat register. This product should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack, unless proper ventilation is provided or the video product manufacturer instructions have been followed.
Power Lines :
An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines, other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching or approaching such power lines or circuits, as contact with them might be fatal. Installing an outdoor antenna can be hazardous and should be left to a professional antenna installer.
Lightning :
For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the video product due to lightning and power line surges.
Compulsory Warnings
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent, or a similarly qualified person, in order to avoid a hazard. This product has not been designed for any uses other than those specified in this booklet.

This compact disc player is classified as a CLASS 1

Only qualified service personnel should remove the cover or attempt to service this device due to possible eye injury. Invisible laser radiation when open and interlock failed or defeated. Avoid direct exposure to beam.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The machine does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Please leave all maintenance work to qualified personnel.
Setup precautions
Finding a suitable location
Place the set on a flat, hard and stable surface. Do not place the set on a carpet. Do not position the set on top of other equipment that might heat it up (e.g., receiver or amplifier) Do not put anything under the set (e.g., CDs, magazines). Install this unit near the AC outlet where the AC power plug can be easily reached.
Space for ventilation – Place the apparatus in a location with adequate ventilation to prevent
internal heat build up. Allow at least 10 cm (4.5”) clearance from the rear and the top of the set and 5cm (2.3”) from the left and right to prevent overheating. Avoid high temperatures, moisture, water and dust
Apparatus must not be exposed to dripping or splashing. Do not place any sources of danger on the apparatus (e.g., liquid filled objects, lighted candles).

Cleaning discs
Some problems occur (frozen picture, sound disruptions, picture distortions) because the disc inside the unit is dirty. To avoid these problems, discs should be cleaned on a regular basis. To clean a disc, use a micro fi bre cleaning cloth and wipe the disc from the centre to the edge in a straight line.
CAUTION! Do not use solvents such as benzene, thinner, commercially available cleaners, or anti-static sprays intended for discs
About recycling
These instructions have been printed on non-polluting paper. The electronic equipment contains a large number of materials that can be recycled. If you are disposing of an old machine, please take it to a recycling centre. Please observe the local regulations regarding disposal of packaging materials, exhausted batteries and old equipment.

Helpful indication:
When you have problems with playing disc , please take it ou t and try anoth er disc. Imprope r format disc s will not able to be played.
How to deal with disc
– Highly data compaction is written in video CD. That’s why those discs require particular cautiousness and
care, when we touch them.
Take the CD disc in hands, holding edge/or through hole in the middle. Do not touch the playback side of the disc by finger. Do not perish or scratch this disc. Do not put discs in places subject to direct sunlight or near heat sources. Store discs vertically at cool dry place. Do not store discs in places subject to moisture and dust. Wipe the disc lightly with a soft cloth from the middle to the edge. Do not use any type of solvent spirit or
spray.

4. PREVIOUS button- Skips to the previous chapter or track.

6. BACKWARD button- Searches backward.
7. ENTER button- Press to confirm a selection.
8. DIRECTION buttons- Used in DVD menus and MP3 track selection or
tuning.
9. SETUP button - Enters or exits the setup menus.
10. AUDIO button- Press to change the audio channel.
11. SUBTITLE button- Press to choose the subtitle.
12. TITLE button - Displays the title menu if presented on the disc.
13. OSD-Switch the OSD language
14. RESUME button - continue to play the programme.
15. ANGLE button- Used to access various camera angles on a DVD.
16. PBC button - When playing DVDs or Video CDs, turns off playback control
to enable playback sequence programming using the PROGRAM button. In addition, when playback control is off, the player will skip the root menu on a Video CD when the disc is inserted and begin playback with the first track

29. REPEAT button - Allows you to repeat a title, a chapter, a song or all songs
30. RETURN button- Press to return to the menu.
31. MUTE button - Instantly turns off the sound. Press again to resume.
32. ROOT button-Return to the root menu 33/35. VOLUME buttons - Press to adjust the volume level.
34. P-SCAN button – setting the Progressive scan mode.

USING THE REMOTE CONTROL
A. Open the battery compartment. B. Insert two batteries type AAA, following the indications inside the
compartment.
C. Close the cover. D. Point the remote control directly at the remote sensor (IR) on the front
panel.
E. Select the source you wish to control F. Then select the desired function
CAUTION!
Remove batteries if they are exhausted or if the remote control is not to be used for a long time. Do not mix batteries (old and new or carbon and alkaline, etc.). Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be disposed of properly.
Basic instruction:
Cautions! Be sure turn off power and unplug unit before connectin g. Different from other visual format, DVD provides you wide visual option, which allows on many devices
from standard TV with stereophonic out to home cinema system with projector and all spatial and caustic possibilities.
Please read manual of every device carefully Do not place any objects or any other device on DVD player, Be sure wither the cable is connected properly, The DVD player shall be directly connected to the TV or other audio receiver. Any other connection could
cause distortion.
– Hereinafter we introduce several options of sound and picture connection with DVD. Choose one of the
options. (Don’t combine them together).

Basic stereo sound connections
– Use RCA Audio cable. Cable with red connector from sockets “FR” in the DVD player and “Right Audio In”
in TV set or stereo receiver, while white connector from sockets “FL” in DVD player and to “Left Audio In” in the TV set or stereo receiver.
– In connection from L/R with stereo TV set or stereo receiver, remember to setup DOWNMIX status in Audio
menu into STEREO. (See AUDIO SETUP in Page 25)

SYSTEM CONNECTION
Surround Sound connection:
When you want to get surround sound effect, you need to connect DVD player to a multi-channel AV receiver to get this sound effect by analog connection or digital connection.
Analog connection:
- Use 6pieces of RCA cable, connect 6 connectors of DVD player rear panel (FL, FR, SL, SR, CEN, SW)
to the audio input socket of AV surround receiver.
- In connection of analog multi channel, remember to setup DOWNMIX status in Audio menu into OFF.
(See AUDIO SETUP Page )
Digital connection:
This is to get a better audio effect. To do this kind of connection, make sure that you have an AV receiver with built in Dolby Digital decoder or DTS decoder, with Digital Optical input socket, or Digital Coaxial input socket.
- Use a digital optical cable, connect from OPTICAL output socket in DVD player, to OPTICAL input
socket in AV receiver
- Use a digital coaxial cable, connect from COAXIAL output socket in DVD player, to COAXIAL input
socket in AV receiver.
- In digital connection, remember to setup SPDIF SETUP as RAW or PCM. (See AUDIO SETUP)

Cautions! (Refer to optical cable connection)
Before connecting, shuck the bung dustproof from the ending of optical cable. Put in jack in amplifier and player orderly. Retain bung and cover the ending of the cable and cable many times that the cable will be took out from the socket.
DON’T CONNECT OPTICAL CABLE OR COAXIAL CABLE TO DEVICE, WHICH DOESN’T HAVE BUILT-IN DECODER DOLBY DIGITAL.THE DIFFENCE OF OUTPUT SIGNALS, MAY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO BOTH DEVICES.
VIDEO connection
Composite video connection
- Use the yellow RCA cable to do composite video connection, which is of a normal video signal. Put
Yellow RCA end from VIDEO output socket from DVD player, to VIDEO input socket in TV set or AV receiver.
- Remember to press VIDEO SW on remote control to change to OFF status. Or go to VIDEO SETUP
PAGE to set the COMPONET as OFF.
S-Video connection
- Use the S-Video cable to connect, which is of a higher video signal. Put one side end from S-VIDEO
output socket from DVD player, to S-VIDEO input socket in TV set or AV receiver.
- Remember to press VIDEO SW on remote control to change to OFF status. Or go to VIDEO SETUP
PAGE to set the COMPONET as OFF.
SCART connection
- Use the 21 pin Euro SCART cable to connect to DVD player and TV set, to get a better video and audio
signal together. In case of SCART connection, it is not necessary to connect DVD player and TV set with RCA audio cable any more. The EURO SCART cable has audio and video transferring capacity.
- Remember to press VIDEO SW on remote control to change to RGB status. Or go to VIDEO SETUP
PAGE to set the COMPONET as RGB.
Component video connection
- Use the YUV cable (of three cables, in colors of RED, BLUE ,GREEN ) to connect DVD player with TV
set or AV receiver, to get the best video signal output to TV or monitor. Connect the Green cable from Y socket of DVD player, blue cable from Pb/Cb socket of DVD player, red cable from Pr/Cr socket of DVD player, to the same color socket in TV set or AV receiver.
- Remember to press VIDEO SW on remote control to change to YUV status. Or go to VIDEO SETUP

POWER
Before putting the plug of power supply cable to the outlet, make sure that all connections are correct. When you are sure that you are doing correctly, then put the plug carefully to the power supply socket. Press the button POWER on the front panel of device. Then press the button POWER on the remote control. The VFD of this player display LOADING, means working mode of the player. When the device is connected with powe r, the short switching over voltage of electricity could cause interference with other electronics connected to the same circuit. If this situation will happen, the device shall be connected to the socket in another circuit.

Before you start, make sure you have completed all the necessary connections before proceeding
Turning on the DVD system
Press POWER. The display screen will turn on/off.
Setting language preferences
The language options are different depending on your country or region. It may not correspond to the illustrations shown on the user manual.
On-screen display (OSD) language
The OSD (On-Screen Display) language for this DVD system will remain as you have set it, regardless of the changes made to the DVD disc language. A. In ‘DISC’ mode, press SETUP on the remote control. { General Setup Page } appears. B. Use
keys to highlight { OSD Language }, then press .
C. Use
keys to select a language and press OK to confirm.
Audio, Subtitle and Menu language for DVD playback
You can select your preferred language settings for DVD playback. If the selected language is recorded on the DVD disc, the DVD system will automatically play the disc in that language. Otherwise, the disc’s default language will be used instead

Selects the preferred audio language for DVD playback.

E. Repeat steps C ~ D for other settings.
Helpful Hints: – During DVD playback, you can switch the audio and subtitle languages by pressing the AUDIO and
SUBTITLE buttons on the remote control. However, this does not change the default settings you have made here.
– For some DVDs, the subtitle/audio/menu language can only be changed via the DVD disc menu.

Setting the video display mode
The display mode of the DVD system, DVD and TV should match. Only then will it be possible to play a DVD on this system. Before changing the TV system, determine the color system of your TV.

Normal/PS
Select this if you have a conventional TV and want both sides of the picture to be trimmed or formatted to fit your TV screen.
Normal/LB
Select this if you have a conventional TV. In this case, a wide picture with black bands on the upper and lower portions of the TV screen will be displayed.
Wide/Wide Squeeze
Select this if you have a wide-screen TV.
D. Select one of the options and press ENTER to confirm.

Option “MPEG-4 Subtitle setup” is designed for users who watch films in Standard MPEG-4 (Divx/ XViD). Those functions installed here used for display subtitle inscriptions effectively and properly . Region Codes for DVD discs
DVD discs and players are designed with regional restrictions. Before playing a disc, make su re the disc is for the same region as your player. The regional code for this DVD system is indicated at the rear panel.
IMPORTANT!
– If the inhibit icon (ø or X) appears on the TV screen when a button is pressed, it means the function is not
available on the current disc or at the current time.
– Do not put any objects other than discs on the disc tray. Doing so may cause the disc player to
malfunction.
Playing a disc
A. Turn on the TV to the Video In channel for the DVD system (e.g. ‘EXT’, ‘0’, ‘AV’).
You should see the DVD background LOGO screen on the TV.
B. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray and load a disc, then press the same button again to close the disc
tray. Make sure the disc label is facing up. For double-sided discs, load the side which you want to play facing up. You can also hold down the STOP button on the remote control to open and close the disc tray.
C. Playback will start automatically. See the following pages for more playback options and features.
Helpful Hint:
– If you are having trouble playing a certain disc, remove the disc and try a different one. Improperly formatted
discs will not play on this DVD system.

Basic playback controls
During playback, press to pause the playback. Press again to resume playback
Selecting another track/chapter , Press
/ or use the numeric keypad (0-9) to key in a track/chapter
number. If the repeat track mode is active, press
again to replay the same track/ chapter. (Divx movie is not
workable with this NEXT and PREVIOUS function.)
Searching backward/forward Hold down . While searching, press
/ . repeatedly to decrease/increase the search speed. To resume normal playback,
press
(or PLAY on the remote control). Stopping playback Press
Helpful Hint:
This is a power-saving feature, the system will automatically switch to Eco Power standby mode if you do not press any buttons within 30 minutes after a disc has stopped playing. Please press POWER key on remote to resume it.
Selecting various repeat functions
While playing a disc, press REPEAT on the remote control repeatedly to choose a repeat play mode. DVD

Repeat playback is not possible on VCDs when the PBC mode is turne d on.

Programming disc tracks
(Not for Picture CD/MP3) You can play the contents of the disc in the order you want by programming the playing order of the tracks.
A. Press PROGRAM on the remote control. The programming menu appears.
B. Use the numeric keypad (0-9) to enter a valid track/chapter number. C. Use
keys to move the cursor to the next position. If there are more than ten total tracks, select
{ Next } on the screen and press OK (or press > on the remote control) to access the next programming page. To remove the track/chapter from the programming menu, select the track/chapter and press ENTER .
D. Once complete, press ENTER to start playback. Playback will start from the selected track under the
programmed sequence.
E. To exit the program menu, select Exit in the screen menu and press ENTER
Other playback features for video discs (DVD/VCD/SVCD) Using the Disc Menu
Depending on the disc format, a menu may appear on the TV screen once you load the disc.
To select a playback feature or item Use
keys or numeric keypad (0-9) on the remote control, then
press ENTER to start playback.
To access or remove the menu, press TITLE or ROOT on the remote control. TIPS: The operating features described here might not be possible for certain discs. Always refer to the instructions supplied with the discs.
This DVD system can display the disc playback information (for example, title or chapter number, elapsed playing time, audio/subtitle language) and a number of operations can be done without interrupting disc playback. A During playback, press DISPLAY, disc information appears on the TV. B Use DISPLAY keys to shift between different disc information.

Zooming in

Changing subtitle language (DVD only)
This operation works only on DVDs with multiple subtitle languages. You can change the language you want while playing a DVD. Press SUBTITLE repeatedly to select different subtitle languages.
Changing sound track language
This operation works only on DVDs with multiple soundtrack languages, you can change the language you want while playing a DVD. press AUDIO repeatedly to select the available audio languages. While playing a VCD, press AUDIO repeatedly to select the available audio channels provided by the disc (STEREO, MONO LEFT, MONO RIGHT or MIX MONO).
Switching camera angles
This option is only available with DVDs that contain sequences recorded from different camera angles. This allows you to view the picture from different angles. Press ANGLE repeatedly to select the available camera angles.
Playback Control (VCD only)
Playback Control (PBC) playback allows you to play VCDs interactively, following the menu on the display. When playback is stopped, press RETURN/TITLE to turn on or off the PBC mode. During playback, press
RETURN/TITLE to return to the disc title menu or main menu.
Play a MPEG-4 (DiVX / XViD) Disc
This unit reads following formats: MPEG-4 (DiVX / XViD). A lot of MPEG4 format movie downloaded from internet, including QPEL, can be burned in a CD or DVD-R/RW, and play in this player. If you need subtitle to be with the MPEG4 movie, you can burn the subtitle file, including format as TXT (MicroDVD, TM Player, MPL2), SUB, SRT.SMI etc. Make sure the movie file and subtitle file are named in the same. Play a MP3/WMA Disc
Mp3/WMA is the most popular standard in digital encrypting. Play a JPEG image file
The Joint Photographic Experts Group create standard for continuous tone image coding. At present this is commonly used format for image compression and recording. Accessing the DVD setup menu
This DVD system setup is carried out via the TV, enabling you to customize the playback function of the DVD system to suit your particular requirements.
A. Press SETUP on the remote control. The setup menu appears. B. Use

Audio Setup Page
Speaker Setup
You don’t need to do anything in speaker setup when you are using the digital audio output (optical / coaxial). This is for users who are using the player’s built-in 5.1 channel output function. If you are connecting in analog way, stereo or multi-channel, press ENTER or to enter the speaker setup details to make option.
Downmix
If you are connecting with analog stereo mode, it is recommended that you select the Stereo option. If you are connecting with analog multi-channel mode, it is recommended that you select the OFF option.
Front Speaker
You can select Large for big sized Speakers, Small for small sized speakers. Optional settings: Large, Small.
Center Speaker
You can select Large for big sized speakers, Small for small sized speakers. Make sure the center speaker is not set as OFF when you are playing a multi-channel movie. Optional settings: Large, Small, Off
Rear Speakers
You can select Large for big sized speakers, Small for small sized speakers. You can turn off the Rear speakers when you select OFF. Optional settings: Large, Small, Off
Sub Woofer
You can turn the sub woofer speaker on/off, when playing multi-channel movie. It is recommended to set as ON to get a good bass effect. Optional settings: On, Off.
Screen Saver
Open or close the screen saver function. Optional settings: On/off
Last Memory
When playing DVD / CD / VCD, after you press the STOP button, the player will remember the position of current program playing. Next time you turn on the machine, you just need to click the PLAY button and the player will jump to the “last memory” position. Optional settings: On/off

Sets Reverb mode and Channel Delay.
Equalizer

Sets the default subtitle language when playing a DVD.
Disc menu Sets the default language menu when playing a DVD.
Parental
Enable parental lock when playing DVD. Users are required to enter a password (set in the password setup) when playing certain rating DVD titles. Optional settings: KID SAF, G, PG, PG13, PGR, R, NC17, Adult, off.

A. Visit our website to check the availability of the latest software upgrade. Download the software to a CD-R.
when burn the CD, Do remember name the CD as MEDIATEK, without any change of the BIN file name.
B. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray. C. Insert the CD-R and press OPEN/CLOSE again. The software will start to install on the recorder
automatically.
IMPORTANT! Power supply must not be interrupted during upgrade! That will damage the unit surely!
D. After the upgrading is finished, the Disc tray will open automatically. Take the disc out E. RESET the machine and play as normal again.

Troubleshooting
WARNING
Under no circumstances should you try to repair the system yourself, as this will invalidate the warranty. Do not open the system as there is a risk of electric shock. If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the system for repair. If you are unable to solve a problem by following these instructions, consult your dealer for help.
