What are Title/Chapter and Track?
Title/Chapter (DVD)
DVDs are divided up into large sections, titles, and smaller sections, chapters. The numbers alloc ated to these s ections are called title numbers and chapter numbers.
DVD
Track (VCD/CD)
Video CDs and CDs are divided up int o sections called tracks, and the numbers allocated to these sections are called track numbers.
VCD/CD
What is MPEG-4?
MPEG-4 is a video compression standard developed by an industrial group called 'Moving Picture Experts Gr oup' or 'MPEG' for short. Audio-Visual Coding'. (International Standards Organization) and are therefore also called ISO-st andards. MPEG-4 is ISO/IEC standard #14496. VCD's, DVD 's, mp3's and all sorts of other applications. To compress a high quality 2 hour video clip to something that can fit on a single CD obviously takes some serious compression tactics. MPEG-4 does this partly by removing information that we don't notic e and partly by transforming the raw pixel data int o a mathematical appr oximation of that data. The approximation is clos e enough f or us mere humans not to notice t he difference between the sourc e and the result ( well, at least in theory).
What are XViD, DiVX?
Both of them are video codec (encoder/decoder) base on MPEG-4. Each of them can encode a video-file into a (hopefully) MPEG-4 compliant data stream which can be saved into a container-file like an .avi, .ogm, .mp4 or others. The unit has a built-in MPEG-4 decoder, with it you can play XViD and DiVX video disc.
