Xtant Technologies XSC Owners manual

Xtant Slim Components offer the flexibility of being installed in a number of applications. The very shallow mounting depth of the woofer allows mounting in shallow doors. In addition, the variable mount tweeter and built in attenuation circuit allow the user to customize the system to his / her listening taste. Please refer to the options below when installing the Xtant Slim Components.
The Xtant Slim Components offer two tweeter dispersion modules for flexibility in mounting position. The smaller module allows for a wider dispersion of sound where as the larger option narrows the dispersion field thereby giving a more direct sound pattern. In many applications, we have found with door mounted locations, a wider dispersion pattern works well. In contrast, a narrower dispersion pattern works well in direct radiating situations. Both options are provided to meet your listening needs.
Speaker Protection
Speaker grills are provided for use in protecting the drivers when the components are mounted somewhere other than the existing factory locations.
Mounting the Driver
The most important factor in achieving good acoustic response is properly mounting the driver. Be sure that
the speaker is mounted to a solid baffle in order to isolate the front sound wave from the back sound wave. This can be achieved by creating a solid, airtight seal between the speaker and its mount. Please review the tweeter mounting options at the end of this section.
Wiring the Driver and Crossover
It is important to use good quality speaker wire when installing speakers. Additionally, a tight connection is very important in speaker installations. A loose connection can cause a speaker to cut in and out or become distorted and harsh.
A 12db per octave two-way crossover is included in the Xtant Slim Components. When using the XSC crossover with these speakers, run a positive and negative speaker lead from the amplifier (if no external amplifier, use speaker outputs from source unit) to the input section of the crossover. Wire a second set of leads from each of the tweeter and woofer positions to their corresponding drivers. The tweeter option allows the installer to choose a +3db, 0, or –3db setting in order to customize the driver for all vehicle types.
