The Xerox Rigger / Carrier is responsible for assembly of the optional furniture stand.
Installation on the network is a customer responsibility.
Some Software options are Customer Installable (i.e..DocBuilder
Pro).
Storage and future availability of the Software & Media that ships with the Fiery EX12 is a customer responsibility. Xerox personnel do not carry replacement materials.
Software Upgrades
Periodically, Xerox will make available bug fixes and other software releases. The Xerox service representative will install bug f ixes and software upgrades on a next call basis.
The following documentation is in hardcopy format.
Customer Release Notes: Contains customer information about the controller and client software that was not included in the electronic customer documentation. This information includes caveats and workarounds.
Media Pack
The Service Representative and the Analyst will utilize the software and materials contained within the customer’s Media Pack when performing service on the EX12 DFE. It is important for the customer to retain the Media Pack where it is accessible to the Service Representative as it may be needed for future service.

To enable System Administrators and others to work at the RIP, the work surface should be desk height.
To enable Xerox Service Representatives to safely repair the system, the work surface should measure at least 36” x 36 “.
The work surface of the RIP must not infringe on the space required by the IOT and any attached accessories unless the work surface is a table that has wheels and can be easily moved. Refer to the DocuColor 12 Customer Expectations Setting Document.
There should be a minimum of 78 inches (1,981 mm) clearance from the floor to the nearest overhead obstruction.
One network drop is required for installation.
A secure but accessible place near the Fiery EX12 must be
established in which to store the EX12 media and soft ware. Xerox personnel may not be able to provide services unless these materials are available.

Printing Specifications
PostScript
The Fiery EX12 is a true Adobe PostScript 3 controll er with PDF native printing.

Print Speed / System Performance
The maximum print speed for the Fiery EX12 system is limited by the print speed of the DocuColor 12.
DocuColor 12 is a document printer; therefore in reverse order printing the print engine will not cycle up until the entire job is ready. This will impact First Copy Out Time (FCOT). The copier may cycle down between each job depending on job complexity.
Overall system performance (‘Click to Clunk’ time) is primarily dependent upon the software applications and network environment being used. Rasterizing (RIP-ing) is only a small f raction of Cl ick to Clunk time.
Printing with custom software applications may produce unexpected or unknown results.
Tray alignment for tray 1 – tray 4 and tray 6. Tray 5 is not supported.
The Fiery EX12 provides accurate billing of all color and black & white images in black detection mode.
Maximum Image Siz e s
The maximum image size from an application is limited to the image size produced by DocuColor 12. The application and the Doc uColor 12 setup controls image position.
Non-imageable area for the DocuColor 12 is listed as follows:
Leading
Edge
Trailing
Edge
Near Edge Far Edge
3mm 3mm 3mm 3mm
Paper
Size
Image Size
SR A3 303 x 440 mm
12” x 18” 295 x 451 mm
ECT Compression
The Compression efficiency is dependent on file type and complexity. Artifacts may be possible when compression is selected depending on the file complexity.
Calibration
AutoCal is the primary calibration method.
Optional supported X-Rite densitometers (DTP32, DTP41) are
available with the EX12 server to enable the printer calibration feature.
An optional EFI densitometer is available for the EX12 server to enable the printer calibration feature.
Color monitor calibration is the responsibility of the customer.
Optimal print quality is achieved by using a densitometer. For RGB
emitting applications (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel), use the DocuColor 12 calibration target. For CMYK applications (Quark, Pagemaker) use the SWOP target.
Print Quality and Color Management
The appearance of the doc ument displayed on the monitor screen may not match the output print because the monitor uses RGB color space parameters.
For imported RGB images, optimal color is achieved in the EPS format. Other imported file formats may produce unexpected results.
Separations Support
For the PC, only QuarkXPress & PageMaker should be used for separations.

Billing Meters
Fiery EX12 provides accurate billing for color jobs containing mixed black and white and color pages. If jobs contain gray images, they may bill as a color print in black detection mode.
When black detection is enabled, productivity will be affected by the detection of the black to full color mix.
Security
Xerox and Electronics for Imaging, Inc. (EFI) understand that customers with Fiery products connected to Xerox print engines are concerned about computer viruses. Xerox and EFI do not provide anti-virus software and therefore cannot be responsible for conflicts associated with loading any third-party applications.
A customer can run third-party anti-virus applications directly on the Fiery servers themselves. Although this is not the recommended course of action, EFI and Xerox will, at this time, support server systems with Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition Software (NAV), Version 7.50.846. However, issue resolution is not guaranteed
