Equipment You Can Depend On
The Xerox® DocuMate® 4790 is the ideal
scanner for both large-volume and distributed
scanning environments. It has a duty cycle of up
to 10,000 sheets per day and has been engineered
with innovative features for easy operation and
productive batch scanning, including stapled
documents, ultrasonic double feed detection
and support for long document scanning.
A highly reliable and compact document
scanner, the DocuMate 4790 scans up to 90
ppm and 180 ipm and includes a 200-page
Automatic Document Feeder that accepts up to
A3 (11” x 17”) size documents and can handle
almost any mix of paper in various sizes and
thicknesses. Its unique paper feed mechanism
minimises the possibility of damaging important
documents and ensures precise feeding to
make your work ow even more efcient.
The roller on the DocuMate 4790 is designed
for efciency by separating itself from the page
each time a sheet is fed, reducing the likelihood
of drag and double feeds, and improving the life
of the roller. A separate double feed prevention
roller applies controlling pressure when paper
‘sliding’ (caused by buildup of toner or carbon
on the rollers) is detected.
The scanning glass is protected by the use of
various sensors that detect stapled pages and
automatically interrupt the scan process. It is
also equipped with ultrasonic multi-feed detection
and an innovative self-cleaning function that
removes dust from the scanning glass to ensure
consistently high image quality. The DocuMate
4790 has a convenient clamshell design that
allows direct and straightforward access to the
entire paper path, so a user can clear paper jams,
clean the unit or replace the rollers easily without
having to call a service technician. A pre-scan
imprinter is also available and is supported
through the included TWAIN and ISIS drivers.

DocuMate 4790 is powered by Visioneer OneTouch
scanning technology for simplifying scan jobs
and workows. The scanner also has an easyto-read LCD on the front that reminds the user
of the resolution, colour mode, le type, processing
and nal destination of the scanned document.

Visioneer OneTouch is an easy to use utility that
connects the DocuMate
set of scanner settings to greatly improve the
efciency of the workow – so that with one
touch the documents are scanned automatically
to the relevant location.
Visioneer OneTouch also links the DocuMate
4790 with industry-leading document
management solutions. A Software Development
Kit (SDK) is also available which provides the
ability to develop specic links and integrate
them into the Visioneer OneTouch control
panel quickly and easily.

Provides a precise OCR and layout retention
solution, quickly turning scanned documents
into editable, formatted text. The text can then
be used in virtually any word processing, desktop
publishing or web publishing programme.
Text Searchable PDF
Transform volumes of paper or photos into
organised digital les that can be quickly found,
the user can instantly search documents for
keywords or phrases. This provides additional
archival benets beyond traditional storage,
and the widely accepted PDF format lets everyone
view and print documents – on any computer.

technology is an integrated software solution
that combines the ease of Visioneer OneTouch
scanning with the superior image quality achieved
with Kofax VRS. Kofax VRS is an award winning
patented technology that automatically insures
the best possible image quality and OCR accuracy
for scanned document images. As pages pass
through the scanner, VRS performs a multipoint
inspaction of each document, instantly checking
and adjusting alignment (skew), brightness,
contrast and image clarity.
