Safety instructions

Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below, may result in electric shock, ﬁre and/or serious personal injury. The term “power tool” in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or batteryoperated (cordless) power tool.

1. WORK AREA

Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas

invite accidents.

Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of ﬂammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools

create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2. ELECTRICAL SAFETY

Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodiﬁed plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of

electric shock.

Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of

electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. Don’t expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged cords increase the risk of electric

shock.

When operating a power tool outside, use an outdoor extension cord marked “W-A” or “W”. These cords are rated for outdoor use

and reduce the risk of electric shock.

3. PERSONAL SAFETY

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use tool while tired or under the inﬂuence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment

of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions.

Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is off before plugging in. Carrying tools with your ﬁnger on the switch or plugging in tools that

have the switch on invites accidents.

on. A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the tool may result in personal injury. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in

unexpected situations.

Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in

moving parts.

If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used.Use of these devices can reduce dust-related hazards.

4. POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

Do not force tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The

correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed. Do not use tool if switch does not turn it on or off. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.

Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of

untrained users.

Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained

power tools. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for

operations different from intended could result in a hazardous situation.

5. SERVICE

Have your power tool serviced by a qualiﬁed repairperson using only genuine replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of

the power tool is maintained.

Additional safety points for your drill

Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or maintenance. Fully unwind cable drum extensions to avoid potential overheating. When an extension cable is required you must ensure it has the correct ampere rating for your power tool and that it is in a safe electrical condition. Ensure your mains supply voltage is the same as your tool rating plate voltage. Your tool is double insulated for additional protection against a possible electrical insulation failure within the tool. Always check walls and ceilings to avoid hidden power cables and pipes. After long working periods, external metal parts and accessories could be hot. Wear eye protection when operating this tool.

Your risk to these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: Work in a well ventilated area. Work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are speciﬁcally designed to ﬁlter out microscopic particles.

Always wear safety glasses or eye shields when using the drill. Everyday eyeglasses have only impact-resistant lenses; they are NOT safety glasses. Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious

Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a “live” wire will make the exposed metal parts

of the tool “live” and shock the operator. Do not use dull bit. Dull bit can break easily, or cause kickback.

Operating instructions

ON/OFF SWITCH WITH VARIABLE SPEED CONTROL

Depress to start and release to stop your tool. This tool has a variable speed switch (1) that delivers higher speeds with increased trigger pressure - speed is controlled by the amount the switch trigger is depressed.

SWITCH LOCK-ON BUTTON

Depress ON/OFF switch (1) then lock-on button (2), release ON/OFF switch ﬁrst and lock-on button second. Your switch is now locked on for continuous use. To switch off your tool just depress and release the

ON/OFF switch.

FORWARD AND REVERSE ROTATION CONTROL

For drilling and screwdriver use forward rotation marked “ ” (lever is moved to the left). Only use reverse rotation marked “ ” (lever is moved to the right) to remove screws or release a jammed drill bit. Never change the direction of rotation when the tool is rotating, wait until it has stopped.

AUXILIARY (SIDE) HANDLE

To ﬁt the handle (4), slide the handle onto the drill and rotate to the desired working position. To loosen the side handle, rotate the handgrip counter-clockwise. To tighten the side handle, rotate the handgrip clockwise. Always use the auxiliary handle when you use the tool.

ADJUSTABLE DEPTH STOP

Fit the drill bit or driver bit into the chuck. Loosen the depth stop by rotating the handle counter-clockwise. Slide the depth stop until the distance between the depth stop end and the drill/driver bit end is equal to the depth of hole/screw you wish to make. Then clamp the depth stop by rotating the handle clockwise.

CHUCK ADJUSTMENT

To open the chuck jaws rotate the front section of the chuck while holding the rear section. Insert the drill bit between the chuck jaws and rotate the front section in the GRIP POSITION while holding the rear section. Ensure drill bit is in the centre of the chuck jaws. Finally, ﬁrmly rotate the two separate chuck sections in opposite directions. Your drill bit is now locked in the chuck. Before installing accessory, remove plug from power supply.

REAR HANDLE ROTATION

Open the RevoLock™ (6) locking mechanism - the handle can be rotated in the 0°-60° range. The angle of the handle can be adjusted according to your working habit and drilling condition. In order for the tool to operate, the RevoLock™ locking mechanism must be in the “locked-down” closed

position. The tool will not operate unless the locking mechanism is closed.

Note: For operator safety, the drill will not operate when the RevoLock™

locking mechanism is in the open position.

CARBON BRUSH REPLACEMENT

Always be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged before attempting to perform inspection or maintenance. There are two motor brushes which can be easily accessed on either the front or back of the motor housing.

ATTENTION:

When servicing a tool, ALWAYS use only identical replacement parts.

STEP 1: Locate the plastic motor brush access caps (7) on either the

front or back of the motor housing.

STEP 2: Remove the threaded access cap using a ﬂat head screwdriver

and turn in a counter-clockwise rotation to loosen. Do not apply excessive force as this may damage the access plug.

STEP 3: Remove the old motor brush. STEP 4: Insert the new motor brush making sure that it is completing

inserted into brush holder.

STEP 5: Replace the access cap with the ﬂat-head screwdriver turning

clockwise to tighten.

Note: Always change both sets of brushes at the same time.USER’S

For your convenience, a name plate has been added to this product. In order to write your name (or your company’s name) on the name plate, you must ﬁrst remove the plastic cover. You can write your name on the nameplate inside and then replace the plastic cover.

Working hints for your drill

If your power tool becomes too hot, set the speed to maximum and run no load for 2-3 minutes to cool the motor. When drilling in metal, only use HSS, Titanium or Cobalt drill bits that are in good condition. Always use a magnetic bit holder when using short screwdriver bits. Where possible use a pilot hole before drilling a large diameter hole in metal material.

Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Always store your power tool in a dry place. Keep the motor ventilation slots clean. Keep all working controls free of dust. If you see some sparks ﬂashing in the ventilation slots, this is normal and will not damage your power tool.

IMPORTANT

The wires in the mains lead are colored in accordance with the following code:

BLUE =NEUTRAL BROWN = LIVE

As the colors of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the colored markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows. The wire which is colored blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with N. The wire which is colored brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with L. Never connect live or neutral wires to the earth terminal of the plug. Only ﬁt an approved BS1363/A plug and the correct rated fuse.

Note: If a moulded plug is ﬁtted and has to be removed take great care

1. ARBEITSBEREICH

Sorgen Sie für eine gute Beleuchtung des Arbeitsbereiches.

Unordentliche und schlecht ausgeleuchtete Arbeitsbereiche erhöhen die Unfallgefahr.

Benutzen Sie Elektrowerkzeuge nicht in explosionsgefährdeter Umgebung, z. B. in der Nähe von brennbaren Flüssigkeiten, Gasen oder Staub. Es besteht Explosions- und/oder Brandgefahr durch Funken vom Werkzeug. Halten Sie Kinder und Nichtbeteiligte vom Arbeitsbereich fern.

2. ELEKTRISCHE SICHERHEIT

Der Netzstecker Ihres Elektrowerkzeugs und die Netzsteckdose müssen zueinander passen. Versuchen Sie nie den Stecker zu

verändern. Schließen Sie geerdete Werkzeuge auf keinen Fall mit Adaptersteckern an. Originalstecker und entsprechende Steckdosen verringern die Stromschlaggefahr.

Vermeiden Sie Körperberührung mit geerdeten Teilen, zum Beispiel mit Rohren, Heizkörpern, Herden, Kühlschränken oder ähnlichem. Es besteht ein erhöhtes Stromschlagrisiko, wenn Ihr Körper

geerdet ist.

Schützen Sie Elektrowerkzeuge vor nasser und feuchter Umgebungen. Eindringendes Wasser oder Feuchtigkeit erhöht die

Gefahr eines Stromschlages.

3. PERSÖNLICHE SICHERHEIT

Seien Sie aufmerksam, beobachten Sie Ihre Arbeit und gehen Sie vernünftig vor. Arbeiten Sie nicht mit Elektrowerkzeugen, wenn

Sie Drogen, Alkohol oder Tabletten eingenommen haben. Ein Moment der Unaufmerksamkeit kann beim Arbeiten mit Elektrowerkzeugen zu schweren Verletzungen führen.

Verwenden Sie Sicherheitsausrüstung. Tragen Sie beim Arbeiten mit Elektrowerkzeugen immer einen geeigneten Augenschutz.

Wenn das Werkzeug mit einer Staubabsaugung geliefert wird, stellen Sie sicher, dass diese angeschlossen ist und richtig funktioniert. Die Verwendung von Staubabsaugungen kann das Risiko

von Unfällen vermindern, die auf Staub zurückzuführen sind.

4. VERWENDUNG UND PFLEGE DES ELEKTROWERKZEUGS

Überlasten Sie Ihr Werkzeug nicht. Verwenden Sie ein

Elektrowerkzeug, das für Ihre Anwendung geeignet ist. Im angegebenen Leistungsbereich arbeiten Sie besser und sicherer.

Benutzen Sie keine Werkzeuge, bei denen sich der Schalter nicht ein- und/oder ausschalten lässt. Werkzeuge mit beschädigtem Ein/ Aus-Schalter sind gefährlich und müssen repariert werden. Trennen Sie das Elektrowerkzeug vom Netz, ehe Sie Einstellungen ändern, Zubehörteile austauschen oder ehe Sie das Werkzeug verstauen. Mit dieser Maßnahme vermindern Sie das Risiko eines selbsttätigen Anlaufs. Bewahren Sie nicht benutzte Elektrowerkzeuge außer Reichweite von Kindern auf. Lassen Sie Personen, die im Umgang mit Elektrowerkzeugen unerfahren sind und/ oder die Bedienungsanleitung nicht kennen, nicht mit dem

Elektrowerkzeug arbeiten. Elektrowerkzeuge bergen ein hohes Risiko, wenn sie in die Hände von Unerfahrenen gelangen. Halten Sie Ihr Elektrowerkzeug instand. Überprüfen Sie, ob alle beweglichen Teile einwandfrei funktionieren, ob Teile beschädigt sind, oder ob irgendein anderer Zustand vorliegt, der den einwandfreien Betrieb des Elektrowerkzeuges verhindert. Lassen Sie beschädigte Werkzeuge umgehend reparieren. Viele Unfälle lassen sich auf unzureichende Wartung und Pﬂege zurückführen. Halten Sie Ihre Werkzeuge sauber und scharf. Ordentlich gewartete Schneidwerkzeuge mit scharfen Schnittﬂächen verklemmen sich weniger leicht und sind leichter zu kontrollieren.
