SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: READ AND
UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and / or serious personal injury.
NOTE: Before using battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings in this manual, on battery charging stand, battery pack, and product using battery pack to prevent misuse of the products and possible injury or damage.
WARNING: To reduce the risk
of electric shock or damage to the battery charger and battery pack, charge only the specifically designated battery pack that was included with this charger. Charging other types of battery packs may cause them to burst, causing personal injury and damage.
1. Do not use the charger outdoors or
expose to wet or damp conditions.
Water entering charging stand will increase the risk of electric shock.
2.
Use of an attachment with this battery charger that is not recommended may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
3. Do not abuse the cord on the battery
charger. Never carry the charger by
its cord. Never pull the cord to remove the transformer from the power outlet. Damage to the cord or charger could occur and create an electric shock hazard. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increase the risk of electric shock.
4. Make sure cord is located so that it
will not be stepped on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp edges or moving parts, heat, oil, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress. This
will reduce the risk of accidental falls, which could cause injury, and damage to the cord which could result in electric shock.
5. Keep cord and battery charger away from heat to prevent damage to housing or internal parts.
6. Do not let gasoline, oils, petroleumbased products, etc. come in contact with plastic parts. They contain
chemicals which can damage, weaken or destroy plastic.
7.
An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of
improper extension cord could result in a risk of fire and electric shock. If an extension cord must be used, make sure:
a) That pins on plug of extension cord are
the same number, size and shape as those of transformer on charger,
b) That extension cord is properly wired and
in good electrical condition, and
c) That you use a proper extension cord. ONLY use cords listed by Underwriters
Laboratories (UL) and/or Canadian Standard Association (CSA). Other extension cords can cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in a loss of power and overheating of charger. An AWG (American Wire Gauge) size of at least 14gauge is recommended for an extension cord of 25-ft, or less in length. Use 12-gauge for an extension cord of 50-ft. Extension cords 100-ft. or longer are not recommended.
8. INSPECT charger cords for damage. Do not operate battery charger with a damaged cord or transformer/plug, which could cause shorting and electric shock. Have damaged cords
can be repaired at a qualified Service Center.
9. Do not operate battery charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way. Take it to an authorized
serviceman for electrical check to determine if the charger is in good working order.
10. Do not disassemble battery charger. Take it to authorized Parts and Repair Center when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may
result in a risk of electric shock or fire.

11. Disconnect battery charger from the power supply when not in use.
This will reduce the risk of electric shock or damage if metal items should fall into the opening in the charging stand. It also will help prevent damage during a power surge.
12. Risk of electric shock. Do not touch un-insulated portion of output connector or un-insulated battery terminal.
13. INDOOR USE – Use in an indoor location or where wet contact is not likely to occur.
14. Save these instructions. Refer to them
frequently and use them to instruct others who may use this battery charger. If you loan someone this battery charger, loan them these instructions also to prevent misuse of the product and possible injury.
SYMBOLS
EXTENSION CORDS
USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. Table 1 shows the correct size to use depending on cord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gage. The smaller the gage number, the heavier the cord.
Before charging, read the instruction manual

CHARGING PROCEDURE
NOTE: Before using the tool, read the instruction book carefully.
1. CHARGING YOUR BATTERY PACK
The battery charger supplied is matched to the Li-Ion battery installed in the machine. Do not use another battery charger. The Li-Ion battery is protected against deep discharging. When the battery is empty, the machine is switched off by means of a protective circuit: The tool holder no longer rotates. In a warm environment or after heavy use, the battery pack may become too hot to permit charging. Allow time for the battery to cool down before recharging. When the battery is charged for the first time and after prolonged storage, the battery will only accept approximately 60% charge.
However, after several charge and discharge cycles the battery will accept a 100% charge.
2. HOW TO CHARGE YOUR BATTERY (See Fig. A)
Connect the battery charger to the power supply and the green light (2) will illuminate. Slide the battery pack (a) into the charger to make the connections. The green light (2) will be off and the red light (3) will illuminate to show charging has started. A discharged battery at normal ambient temperature will take approximately 45 min to reach full charge. When charging is completed the green light (2) will illuminate while the red light (3) is off.
NOTE:
This charger is designed to detect some problems that can arise with battery pack. (see table below)
Red Flashing Green Off
Defective battery, after pre-charge some minutes with trickle current, the total battery voltage is still less than 10.0V (When charging 20V battery pack) /
8.0V (When charging 14.4V battery pack).
