OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (continued)
Check the pins at the ends of the loader arms. Make
sure they are locked in place with the linchpins.
Periodically check all bolts to make sure they are tight.
Check hydraulic hoses. Make sure they are not chafed
or pinched. Replace any damaged hose.
Check hydraulic hoses and fittings for leaks. Repair any
leaks immediately. Never use your hand to check for a
hydraulic leak when system is under pressure.
Periodically lubricate the swing arm pivot bushings.
Thoroughly clean the grease zerks before servicing.
Dirt mixed with lubricant will rapidly wear parts and
destroy bearings. Keep it clean.
If the machine is used in heavy duty conditions, the
maintenance operations must be carried out more
frequently.
STORAGE
——————————————————
• At the end of the working season or when the Bale
Hand will not be used for a long period, it is good
practice to clean off any dirt or grease that may have
accumulated.
• Inspect the Bale Hand for loose, damaged or worn
parts and adjust or replace if needed.
• Store with clamp arms open so hydraulic cylinder is
closed to protect the cylinder rod. If this is not possible,
smear grease on the cylinder rod.
• Sand areas where paint is chipped or worn and repaint
to prevent rust. Lubricate all pivot locations on Bale
Hand to prevent moisture damage during storage.
• Storage location should be level and solid to make
hitching and unhitching easy. Store in a clean, dry
location away from children and livestock.
When traveling on public roads, whether at night or
during the day, use accessory light and devices for
adequate warnings to operators of other vehicles.
Comply with all federal, state and local laws.
■■
Always stop the tractor or skid steer, set brake,
shut off engine, remove key, and lower loader to
ground before attempting to service. Never leave
equipment unattended with engine running.
■■
Do not work under a raised loader unless it is
securely blocked or held in position. Do not depend
on the hydraulic system to hold loader and attachment in place.
■■
Keep all persons away from operator control area
while performing adjustments, service, or maintenance.
Transport the loaded bale hand at a slow speed and
with the loader at the lowest transport position to
avoid tipping or upsetting, which could result in serious injury or death.
MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
——————————————————
Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately. Do
not use attachment with any damaged parts.
When traveling over rough or hilly terrain or when mak-
ing turns, slow down and use extra care.
TRANSPORTING
——————————————————
Allow for additional length of loader and attachment on
power unit while turning.
Check visibility. If visibility is impaired, reduce speed or
consider other means of transport.
Read all the safety warnings in the front of this manu-
al and in the manual of power unit.
WARNING
WARNING
CAUTION
Escaping hydraulic fluid under pressure can pene-
trate the skin, causing serious injury.
DO NOT use your hand to check for leaks. Use a
piece of cardboard or paper to search for leaks.
Stop engine and relieve pressure before connecting
or disconnecting lines.
Tighten all connections before starting engine or
pressurizing lines.
If any fluid is injected into the skin, obtain medical
attention immediately, or gangrene may result.
