BEFORE BEGINNING
Identify and verify that you have all the parts listed.
Read the instructions at least once, familiarizing yourself
with the parts before assembly. You'll need a #2 & #3
Phillips screwdriver. The Coping Sled can be used on a
shaper or a router table with, or without, a miter slot.
ASSEMBLY
You can use the coping sled without the jig bar by
using it against a fence, in which case your cutter will cut
into the sled base. As long as approximately 1/4" of the
thickness of the Base (524B) remains, it's OK to cut into it.
If using the Jig Bar (4912B), follow the instructions that
come with it. After adjusting the bar to fit your miter slot, attach
the bar to the Base (524B) using two of the mounting holes in
the Base. Select mounting holes that position the Base as close
as possible to the cutter with out striking it. Use the two 10-24
x 3/4" screws (MF040) to attach the bar to the Base, instead of
the longer screws that come packaged with the bar. See fig. 1.
Attach the 24" Fence (524A) to the Base. On each of
the two 1-5/8" Ratchet Handles (5864) install a brass washer
(WB002), a 1" steel washer (WFN002), a 1" x 1/8" spacer
(BUSH1125) and a 1" x 1/4" spacer (BUSH1250). Insert 1-5/8"
Ratchet Handle thru the slot in the Fence (524A) and one handle
thru each slot in the Base. Install an oval nut (5760B - smooth
side first) on the end of the Handle. The oval nut should be
riding in the recess on the underside of the Base. Position the
Fence where desired and tighten for now. See fig. 2 & 3.

Attach the Sub-Fence (525A) to the edge of the Fence
using four 5/8" screws (MF006) and oval nuts (5760B).
Insert the screws thru the countersunk holes in the Sub-Fence
and start the oval nuts, smooth side first, on the ends of the
screws. Slide the Sub-Fence on to the front T-slot of the Fence
until centered, then tighten the screws. See fig. 4 & 5.
