GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS:
This appliance must be grounded. It is equipped with a 3-prong cord having a grounded plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet which is properly installed and grounded.
Warning: Improper use of the grounded cord can result in the risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if necessary. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature by modifying plug.
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from entanglement or tripping over a longer cord. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, it should be positioned such that it does not drape over the counter or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over and:
A. Use only 3-prong extension cord with 3-blade grounding plug.
B. The marked rating of the extension cord must be equal to or
greater then the rating of this appliance. The electrical rating is listed on the bottom of this unit.
C. Please ensure that the brew basket handle is fully locked in the down position before brewing coffee as the machine uses some pressure to speed up the brewing process. Do not try to open the brew basket until the brewing cycle has finished.

Plug into standard 120V outlet.
Fit the filter.
Make sure the carafe is in place on the keep warm plate and the coffee basket holder is in place.

If using the appliance at altitudes of 4,000 ft. or above please reference the instructions on page 17.
When using the appliance for the first time, the display may show "Err". This is because the unit has detected that the pipes are not filled with water. If this happens, press the START/STOP button once to clear the "Err" and press again to start a new carafe cycle.
Open the water tank lid and fill the water tank with potable water. The water level should not exceed the MAX level marked in water gauge. Then close the water tank lid.
Note: The appliance can make up to 12 x 5oz cups of coffee in a brewing cycle.
Choose the CARAFE or single CUP coffee basket according to your requirement, and then add coffee grounds into coffee basket. The following table shows the recommended amount of coffee grounds to use for a medium range of coffee strengths. When using the scoop provided to measure coffee 8g is achieved with the coffee slightly rounded.
Stronger or weaker coffee will be achieved by adding more or less coffee grounds, according to your taste.

For best coffee taste and extraction across the range of volumes a regular drip grind should be used. Finer grinds will produce stronger coffee. Very fine and espresso grinds should not be used as these could cause a blockage and incomplete brewing cycles. If there is liquid remaining in the coffee basket at the end of the cycle then the coffee used is too fine. Only use coffee grounds for one brewing cycle.
Note: This appliance can be used with 62mm soft pods but we do not recommend to use 2 pods together. If stronger coffee is required, try selecting a heavier pod or stronger roast. Also, reduce the cup volume setting and increase the strength selection to bold (3 bars) or extra bold (4 bars).
