Read all instructions.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs, which may be warm. Use oven mitts.

To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse body, power cord, or plug in water or other liquid.

Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

Do not operate any appliance with a damaged supply cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Other Consumer Safety Information

This appliance is intended for household use only.

WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard: This appliance is provided with a grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a grounded outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit into the outlet, have an electrician replace the outlet.

The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the appliance. The extension cord must be a grounding-type, 3-wire cord. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.

To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do not use another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit with this appliance.

Troubleshooting

Power light is not on.

Ensure that the griddle is securely plugged into a working outlet.

Griddle may have tripped the circuit breaker. Make sure it is the only item plugged into the circuit.

Griddle is smoking.

Most heating appliances produce an odor and/or smoke when used for the first time. Wash griddle surface before using. Plug into outlet. Turn dial to 450°F (232°C). Heat for 5 minutes. The odor should not be present after this initial preheating.

To reduce the buildup of smoke, use the griddle in a well-ventilated area.

Cooking performance is uneven.

To ensure that you are getting even cooking performance, allow griddle to heat for 10 to 15 minutes before use.

Grease is collecting on countertop.

Turn temperature knob to OFF and unplug. Make sure the grease has completely cooled before attempting to clean up.

Before next use, ensure drip tray is fully inserted into unit.

Clean drip tray and grease drain after every use.

Use non-metal utensils to push grease to grease drain in the cooking surface.

Scratches are visible in griddle surface.

Use the appropriate non-metal utensils for this appliance. See page 7.

Food is sticking to the griddle.

Make sure that griddle is cleaned properly after each use. See page 9.

Season with vegetable or canola oil before cooking.
