System Upgrades
Opening the Server
Removing the Top Cover
1 Loosen the two thumbscrews (1) on the rear panel. 2 Push the cover toward the rear and lift (2) (3) off from the chassis.
Note: Before opening the Top Cover and replace any components, please first turn off the
system and unplug the power cord to avoid any malfunction of the system.

1 Slide the top cover toward the front (1) until it is closed. 2 Tigthen the two thumbscrews (2) on the rear panel.

Installing and Removing HDDs
For HDDs Middle-Plane MiniSAS HDD
HDDs Middle-Plane MiniSAS cable connection 1 Disconnect the miniSAS cable (1) from the HDD.
2 Disconnect the miniSAS cable (2) from the mainboard.

Removing the Middle-Plane MiniSAS HDD with carrier
1 Remove the HDD carrier. (1) Push the HDD carrier latch (1) to release the lever. (2) Swing open the lever (2) and pull out the carrier (3) from the chassis.
2 Remove the four screws from the HDD carrier (1) and remove the HDD (2) from the carrier.

Installing the Middle-Plane MiniSAS HDD with carrier
1 Slide the HDD into the carrier (1) and secure the HDD to the carrier with
four screws (2).
2 Install the HDD carrier. (1) Slide the HDD carrier all the way into the drive bay.
(2) Close the HDD carrier lever and push the HDD carrier until it locks into
place.

For 2.5-inch
HDD
2.5-inch HDD SATA cable
connection
1 Disconnect the SATA cable (1) from the HDD.
2 Disconnect the SATA cable (2) from the mainboard.

Removing the 2.5-inch HDD 1 Remove the top cover (see “Installing the Top Cover” on Page 1). 2 Remove the HDD bracket.
(1) Remove the three screws (1) that secure the 2.5-inch HDD bracket to
the chassis.
(2) Pull up the 2.5-inch HDD bracket until you see the HDD power and data
cables.
(3) Disconnects the power and data cables (2) from the HDD.
3 Remove the four screws from the HDD bracket (1) and remove the HDD (2) from the carrier.

Installing the 2.5-inch HDD 1 Slide the HDD into the bracket (1) and secure the HDD to the bracket
with four screws (2).
2 Install the HDD bracket. (1) Connect the data and power cables (1) to the HDD.
(2) Install the HDD with bracket (2) into the chassis.
(3) Use three screws (2) to secure the HDD bracket to the chassis. (4) Install the top cover (see “Installing the Top Cover” on Page 1).

Replacing a System Fan
Fan module and connector locations
Note: To remove Fan1, first you have to remove the Fan2, Fan3 and Fan4, because all fan
cables are routed beneath.
Removing the fan module
1 Remove the top cover (see “Removing the Top Cover” on Page 5). 2 Disconnect the fan cable connector (1).

3 Pull up the fan module (2) and remove Fan4 from the fan bracket.
Note: To remove Fan1, first you have to remove the Fan2, Fan3 and Fan4, because all fan cables are routed beneath.
Installing a fan module
1 Insert the fan module (1) into the fan bracket.

2 Connect the fan cable connector (2).

Replacing a PDB case
Removing the PDB case
1 Before releasing the PDB case from the chassis, you have to pull both
PSU out from the PSU case.
2 Before unsecure the cables, let’s look at their locations first.

3 Release the P7, P5 cables from the connector.
4 Release the P6, P4 cables from the connector.

6 Release the P3 cable from the connectors.

8 Unsecure the screws on top of the PDB case.

9 Remove the PDB case from the chassis now.
Installing the PDB
1 To install the PDB, first, place the PDB case back to the chassis as
shown.
2 Secure the PCB case with screw.

3 Secure all the cables (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6, P7) back to the
motherboard.

4 Push the PSU unit back to the chassis to finish the installation.

Replacing a Power Supply Unit
Removing the Power Supply Unit
1 To remove the power supply unit, please press the blue lever toward left side.
2 Pull the PSU out horizontally to remove the PSU.

Installing the Power Supply Unit
1 To install the power supply unit, push the new PSU into the chassis horizontally.
2 When the PSU is approaching the chassis, please press the blue lever
(1) to the left and push the PSU to the end.

The replacement of SAS Raid Card
Remove the SAS Raid Card
1 Remove the bezel of the expansion slot with screwdriver.
2 Pull the SAS Raid card off the chassis.

Install the SAS Raid Card
3 To install the SAS Raid card, just insert the SAS Raid card with
balanced strength.
4 Tighten the screw of the SAS Raid card to complete the installation.

The replacement of LAN card
Remove the LAN card
1 Remove the bezel of the expansion slot with screwdriver.
2 Pull the LAN card off the chassis.

Install the LAN card
3 To install the LAN card, just insert the LAN card with balanced
strength.
4 Tighten the screw of the LAN card to complete the installation.

Replacing the Backplane
1 Remove the top cover (see “Removing the Top Cover” on Page 5). 2 Remove all 3.5 inch hard drives from the hard drives cages. 3 Remove eight screws (1) from the top of the backplane cover. Remove two screws (2) each from edge of the backplane cover. Save the screws for reinstallation later.
4 Remove the three screws that secure the backplane bracket to
the chassis.

5 Disconnect all power cables and miniSAS cable from the backplane.
6 Remove the four screws that secure the backplane bracket to the chassis.

7 Push the backplane with bracket slightly toward the rear and pull it up.
8 Remove the twelve screws (1) from the backplane board and detach the board (2) from the bracket.

Reinstalling the Backplane
1 Position the backplane board into the bracket (1). Secure the board into place using twelve screws (2).
2 Insert the backplane with bracket in its slot as shown and push it slightly toward the front until it locks into place.

3 Secure the backplane bracket to the chassis using four screws.
4 Secure the three screws back to the backplane bracket that attaching to the chassis.

5 Insert all power cables and miniSAS cable to the backplane..
6 Position the small front top cover over the chassis and gently lower it into place.

7 Secure the small front top cover to the top of the chassis using eight screws (1). Secure the small front top cover to the sides of the chassis using four screws (2).
8 Install the top cover (see “Installing the Top Cover” on Page 6).

Replacing the Mainboard
1 Remove the top cover (see “Removing the Top Cover” on Page 5). 2 Remove the anti-static pvc cover.
Removing the miniSAS card
1 Disconnect the miniSAS cable (1) from the board.

3 Gently lift the miniSAS card from the slot.
Removing the Memory Modules
1 Open the locking clips (1) that secures the memory modules.
2 Gently pull the DIMM upward (2) to pull it away from the chassis. 3 Repeat Steps 1 & 2 to remove additional memory modules.

Removing the Heat Sink Assembly
1 Use a phillips screwdriver to loosen the four screws on the heat sink as shown below.
2 Lift the heat sink away from the mainboard.
3 Repeat Steps 1 & 2 to remove the other heat sink assembly.

Removing the Processor
IMPORTANT: Before removing the processor from the mainboard, make sure to create a backup file of all important data. 1 Release and pull up the load lever.
2 Flip open the processor cover. 3 Pull out the processor from the socket. 4 Repeat Steps 1 ~ 3 to remove the other processor.
Removing the Mainboard
1 Disconnect the power supply cables from its mainboard connectors.

2 Disconnect the fan cables from its mainboard connectors.
3 Disconnect the power button/LED, SATA & front I/O cables from its mainboard connectors.

4 Remove the nine screws that secure the mainboard to the chassis.
5 Slide the board toward the front of the server (1) and gently tilt the board (2) until you can lift it away from the chassis.

Reinstalling the Mainboard
1 Insert the board and gently lower it into the chassis (1). Slide the board toward the rear of the server (2) until the I/O ports extrude from their port holes.
2 Make sure the screw holes on the mainboard are aligned with those on the chassis. Secure the mainboard with nine screws.

3 Connect the power button/LED, SATA & front I/O cables to its mainboard connectors.
4 Connect the fan cables to its mainboard connectors.

5 Connect the power supply cables to its mainboard connectors.
Installing the Processor
1 Align the slots on the processor with the socket and make sure that it is properly oriented.
2 Press the processor into place (1) and pull the cover (2) over it. 3 Push the load lever downward (3) until it locks into place. 4 Repeat Steps 1 ~ 3 to install the other processor.

Installing the Heat Sink Assembly
1 Position the heat sink assembly on top of the processor, making sure the screws are aligned with the screw holes on the mainboard.
2 Secure the heat sink assembly to the mainboard using four screws.
3 Repeat Steps 1 & 2 to install the other heat sink assembly.

Installing the Memory Modules
1 Insert the memory module into the DIMM slot (1) and then press it down until it clicks into place (2).
2 If additional memory modules are available, install it in the other DIMM slots by repeating Step 1.
Installing the SAS Raid Card
1 Insert the SAS Raid Card into the PCIe x16 slot and secure it in place.

2 Secure the SAS Raid Card bracket using one screw. Insert the SAS Raid Card cable until it locks into place.
Closing the Server
1 Position the anti-static cover into place.
2 Install the top cover (see “Installing the Top Cover” on page 6).

Rack Installation Procedure
If it is your first time to install the server to the rack, please kindly pay attention to the procedures below for safety concern.
Removal of Wiwynn SV320 from Rack
1 If the system is powered on, please press the power/log button to shutdown the system. Press the power/log button for about 5 seconds, the LED light will turn Purple as shown.

2 After that, go to the back panel of the server, and start removing the cables.
3 Start with the power cable.
4 Then, unplug the network cable from the back panel.

5 Finally, unplug the monitor cable (If you have connected your server to a monitor).
6 Now, you can pull the server out of the rack.

Installation of Wiwynn™ SV320 to the Rack
1 Lift up the new server and then push it horizontally into the designated rack as shown.
2 Push the machine into the rack until it is securely placed on the rack.
3 Plug in all necessary cables one by one. Start with Power cable Network Cableand finally the VGA Cable

4 Turn on the new server by pressing on the Power/Log button on the front panel of the system.
