Complete Netbook Memory Upgrade Kit
Step-By-Step Instructions
This guide is developed to instruct users on the proper procedures for removing and installing
memory modules in a Netbook computer system. It includes step-by-step instructions for the
removal of the existing SO-DIMM memory module/s from the system and the installation of an
upgraded SO-DIMM memory module. This guide is for use with netbook systems that have an
external access panel to the memory modules.
For additional information or specific procedures required to remove/install memory modules
from/into your Netbook computer system, it is recommended that you read the user manuals
included with your system.
Note: Not all Netbook portable computer systems have an external access panel to the memory modules. If yours does
not, please consult your user manual and check with an authorized technician before performing the memory upgrade.
Warning: Performing a memory upgrade may void the original manufacturer’s warranty. Please consult your owner’s
manual or contact the manufacturer to review the specifications of the manufacturer’s warranty. It is at the sole
discretion of the computer system owner to perform a memory upgrade. Wintec Industries does not take any
responsibility for accidental damage or voiding of the netbook’s original manufacturer’s warranty caused by the
use or upgrade of memory modules.

Before Getting Started
Before touching any electronic component of the netbook system, make
sure that you are properly grounded. Place the anti-static wrist strap on
your bare wrist (not on top of clothing) and attach the clip to a grounded or
large metal object, such as a metal chair or table. Remaining properly
grounded can prevent static electricity stored on your body or clothing from
damaging your system.
STEP 1 Remove Battery
Turn off the system. Unplug all attached wires and cables, and also remove
the battery from the system.
Step 2 Remove Memory Module Compartment Cover
Locate the panel used to access the memory modules and open the
cover with the included Phillips screwdriver. Refer to your user manual
for instructions to locate and open the memory compartment cover.

Step 3 Remove Old Memory Module(s)
Release the memory module clamps and gently lift the edge of the
memory module to a 45-degree angle. Then pull the memory module out
of the slot. Place your old memory module into the black anti-static tray
that your new Wintec Value module was packaged in. Then place the
anti-static tray and memory module into the Wintec Electronics Recycling
Memory Module Clamps
Envelope. (refer to step 6 for Wintec’s Electronics Recycling Program).
Step 4 Install New Memory Module
Line-up the notch in the row of metal pins at the bottom of the memory
module. Hold the memory module at a 45-degree angle to the memory slot
and slide it into place. Press the top of the memory module until it is lying
flat against the system and gently click it into place.
