Product Service Publications
Volkswagen monitors product performance in the field and regularly sends to dealers the latest service information. Now you too can get these bulletins.
Bulletins cover a wide variety of subjects: the proper use and care of your vehicle, costly repairs; inexpensive repairs or adjustments which, if done early, may avoid costly future repairs. Some bulletins describe repairs about new or unexpected conditions. Others describe improved repair procedures or parts improvements. All of this information can help a qualified mechanic better service your vehicle.
Most bulletins apply to conditions affecting a small number of vehicles. Your authorized Volkswagen dealer may have to determine if a specific bulletin applies to your vehicle.
You can order any or all of these bulletins direct from Volkswagen or consult them at a Volkswagen dealer. You can purchase a subscription to bulletins and receive them as they are issued or you can order individual bulletins. Your Volkswagen dealer has a current index which is necessary to identify and order individual bulletins.
Caution
These bulletins are intended for qualified technicians. They are not meant for the CASUAL do-it-yourselfer. Qualified technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. Improperly performed repairs or maintenance can adversely affect the safety of your vehicle, possibly leading to accident or injury. They may also impair the economy, durability or reliability of your vehicle and may void the warranty of your vehicle. If you are not sure that you can perform a job properly and safely, you should not risk trying to do so.
How to Order an Index
You may also order an index of bulletins directly from Volkswagen. Indexes are published quarterly and updated cumulatively. When you order an index we will send you the most current. For the current model year you may want to wait for the last index of the model year to know what was published. Some bulletins pertaining to particular models and model year may be published in a later year’s index. To order an index, call us tollfree at 1-800-544-8021. Listen to the recording and leave your name, address, vehicle make and model year. The index is free of charge. Additional order forms are available at your Volkswagen dealer.

SECTION 13.00.00 CALIFORNIA EMISSION WARRANTIES
California law requires us to provide you with the following Emissions warranty statement.
CALIFORNIA EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENT
Your Warranty Rights and Obligations
The California Air Resources Board is pleased to explain the emission control system warranty on your model year 200 vehicle. In California, new motor vehicles must be designed, built, and equipped to meet the state’s stringent anti-smog standards. Winnebago Industries must warrant the emission control system on your vehicle for the periods of time listed below provided there has been no abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance of your vehicle.
Emissions Control System Defects Warranty
Warranty for three years/50,000 miles. Winnebago Industries, Inc. warrants to the original retail purchaser and any subsequent purchaser that every 2005 Rialta motor home certified for sale in and registered in California:
was designed, built, and equipped so as to conform with all applicable requirements of the California Air Resource Board (CARB), and
is free from defects in material and workmanship which cause the vehicle to fail to conform with CARB requirements, including any defect which would cause the vehicle’s onboard malfunction indicator to illuminate for three years or 50,000 miles, whichever first occurs.
Your emission control system may include parts such as the fuel injection system, the catalytic converter, and engine computer. Also included may be hoses, belts, connectors, and other emission related assemblies.
Where a warrantable condition exists, selected authorized Volkswagen dealers will repair your vehicle at no cost to you including diagnosis, parts, and labor.
Manufacturer’s Warranty Coverage
For 3 years or 50,000 miles, whichever first occurs. If your vehicle
fails a Smog Check Inspection, all necessary repairs and adjustments will be made by selected authorized Volkswagen dealers to ensure that your vehicle passes the inspection. This is your Emission Control System PERFORMANCE WARRANTY.
If any emission-related part on your vehicle is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by selected authorized Volkswagen dealers. This is your short-term Emission Control System DEFECTS WARRANTY.
For 7 years or 70,000 miles, whichever first occurs. If an emission-related part listed in this warranty booklet specially noted with coverage for 7 years or 70,000 miles is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by selected authorized Volkswagen dealers. This is your long-term Emission Control System DEFECTS WARRANTY.
Owner’s Warranty Responsibilities
As the vehicle owner, you are responsible for the performance of the required maintenance listed in your owner’s maintenance booklet. Winnebago Industries recommends that you retain all receipts covering maintenance on your vehicle, but Winnebago Industries cannot deny warranty solely for the lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure the performance of all schedule maintenance.
You are responsible for presenting your vehicle to selected authorized Volkswagen dealers as soon as a problem exists. The warranty repairs should be completed in a reasonable amount of time, not to exceed 30 days.
A warranted part is any part installed on a motor vehicle or motor vehicle engine by the vehicle or engine manufacturer or up-fitter, or installed in a warranty repair, which affects any regulated emission from a motor vehicle or engine which is subject to California emission standards.
Warranty for 7 Years/70,000 Miles Covering Certain Emission System Components
The following emission control system components are covered for 7 years or 70,000 miles, whichever first occurs:
Catalytic Converter
Exhaust Manifold
Front Exhaust Pipe
Fuel Tank
Engine Control Module
Intake Manifold
Secondary AIR Injection Pump
Throttle Body
Transmission Control Module
Camshaft Adjuster Unit
Emissions Performance Warranty
California maintains a mandatory emissions inspection and maintenance program (Smog Check) requiring motor vehicles to be smog tested at regular intervals. If your vehicle fails to pass a smog test performed by a Licensed Smog Check station pursuant to the California Inspection and Maintenance Program within three years or 50,000 miles, whichever first occurs, selected authorized Volkswagen dealers in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii or Canada will perform, free of charge, any repairs necessary for the vehicle to pass the smog test. These repairs include diagnosis, replacement, repair, and adjustments. After the three-year/50,000-mile performance warranty has expired, a Smog Check test failure due to a defect in a part which is warranted for seven years/70,000 miles will be covered in the same manner as above.
Additional Information About the California Emissions Control System and the California Emissions Performance Warranties
As the vehicle owner, you should also be aware that Winnebago Industries may deny you warranty coverage if your vehicle or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or unapproved modifications.
If you have any questions regarding your warranty rights and responsibilities, you should contact:
Winnebago Industries, Inc. Owner Relations at 1-800-537-1885; or the
California Air Resources Board P.O. Box 8001
El Monte, CA 91731 To learn which authorized Volkswagen dealer will be able to perform emissions warranty work, please call Volkswagen at 1-800-822-8987.
When the Warranty Period Begins
The warranty period begins on the date the vehicle is delivered to the original retail purchaser or, if the vehicle is first placed in service as a “demonstrator” or “company” vehicle prior to delivery, on the date it is first placed in service.
Maintaining your Vehicle
Winnebago Industries recommends that you use and maintain your vehicle in accordance with the instructions set forth in the Volkswagen owner’s manual and Volkswagen maintenance booklet and that you keep a record of your maintenance. Failure to maintain your vehicle according to the required maintenance schedule may cause the vehicle to exceed applicable emissions standards and could result in denial of warranty coverage. However, Winnebago Industries will not deny a warranty claim solely on the basis of your
failure to maintain the vehicle in accordance with these instructions or your failure to keep a record of your maintenance of the vehicle. We also recommend that you provide your maintenance records to the new owner whenever you sell your vehicle.
parts available within a reasonable time not to exceed 30 days in order to perform the warranty repair or if the selected authorized Volkswagen dealer is unable to complete the repairs within 30 days from the time you present the vehicle for repairs.
Warranty Coverage for Diagnostic Services
Repair and diagnostic services related to any repair covered by this warranty will be performed free of charge if the vehicle is delivered to selected authorized Volkswagen dealers in the United States or Canada.
Use of Genuine Volkswagen Parts
Winnebago Industries recommends that genuine Volkswagen parts be used as replacement parts for the maintenance, repair, or replacement of emission control systems. Use of replacement parts which are not equivalent to genuine Volkswagen parts in emission performance and durability may impair the effectiveness of emission control systems. Although use of parts other than genuine Volkswagen parts does not invalidate these warranties, Winnebago Industries assumes no liability under these warranties for failure of such parts and damage to other parts caused by such failure.
Warranty Coverage for Parts Not Scheduled for Inspection or Replacement
Any warranted part which is not scheduled for inspection or replacement is covered for the warranty period. Any such parts repaired or replaced under warranty are warranted for the remaining warranty period.
Warranty Coverage of Parts Scheduled for Replacement
A part which is installed in accordance with Volkswagen instructions or required scheduled maintenance is warranted until the next scheduled replacement interval or until the vehicle has been driven three years or 50,000 miles, whichever first occurs.
Warranty Coverage for Parts Scheduled for Inspection
A part which is scheduled only for inspection in accordance with Volkswagen instructions for scheduled maintenance of the vehicle is covered for the duration of these warranties.
Maintenance and Repairs Performed by Independent Service Shops
Without invalidating these warranties, you may choose to have maintenance, repair, or replacement of emission control components performed by any automotive service establishment or individual qualified to perform such services. However, the cost of such services is not covered by these warranties except in emergencies. If the independent service establishment finds a warrantable defect, you may deliver the vehicle to a selected authorized Volkswagen dealer and have the defect corrected free of charge. Winnebago Industries will not be liable for any expenses which you have incurred at the independent service establishment, except for emergency repairs.
Emergency Repairs
In an emergency when a selected authorized Volkswagen dealer is not reasonably available to perform a warranty repair, the repair may be performed at any available service establishment or by the owner, using any replacement part. Winnebago Industries will reimburse the owner for expenses including diagnosis not to exceed Winnebago Industries’ suggested retail price for the warranted part and a labor charge based upon Winnebago Industries’ recommended time allowance for the warranty repair multiplied by the labor rate per hour appropriate for the area where the warranty repair was performed. In order to receive reimbursement of such expenses, you must keep all replaced parts and receipts and present them to a selected authorized Volkswagen dealer in support of your claim. These emergency warranty service procedures also apply in the event the selected authorized Volkswagen dealer does not have replacement
Coverage of Non-Warranty
If failure of a warranted part causes damage to a part not covered by warranty, the non-warranted part will be replaced free of charge.
Damage caused by tampering, use of improper fuel, abuse, neglect, and improper maintenance is not covered.
These warranties do not cover any damage to the vehicle caused by tampering with emission controls, use of fuel containing lead, or fuel not meeting the specifications set forth in the owner’s manual, and abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance of the vehicle. Diagnosis and repair of such damage are at the expense of the owner.
Notice of Denial of Warranty Claim
If you are not notified within 30 days that a performance warranty claim is not valid, then Winnebago Industries is required to repair the vehicle free of charge.
Implied Warranties
Any implied warranty, including warranty of merchantability or warranty of fitness for a particular purpose is limited in duration to the stated period of these written warranties. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
Incidental and Consequential Damages
These warranties do not cover any incidental or consequential damages such as loss of resale value, lost profits or earnings, and out-of-pocket expenses for substitute transportation or lodging. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
Dealer Assistance
If you are dissatisfied with the service you have received, we suggest that you first discuss the problem with the service personnel at your selected authorized Volkswagen dealer. You may want to speak to the service manager or directly to the owner of the dealership. It is their business to be concerned about your satisfaction and goodwill. Since they are the closest to the situation, they are in the best position to quickly resolve any complaint you may have.
When to Notify the Manufacturer
Your satisfaction with our product is very important to us and we would like to make certain that we have had the opportunity to work with you and your dealer to resolve your complaint. If the problem is not resolved to your satisfaction by the dealer, please contact Winnebago Industries, Inc. immediately by calling toll-free at 1-800537-1885. If you prefer to write, please use the following address:

Your name, address, and telephone number
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
Vehicle delivery date and mileage

Repairs Not Covered by Winnebago Industries
In some circumstances, Winnebago Industries may offer financial assistance toward repairs or expenses not covered by Winnebago Industries’ limited new-vehicle warranties.
In certain instances, Winnebago Industries may pay for such repairs in accordance with the terms of service action campaigns it will conduct from time to time. In the event of a service action, Winnebago Industries will notify you by mail and request you to bring your vehicle to your nearest dealer for repair free of charge. If you have not recently changed your address and Winnebago Industries has your current address on file, you will receive notification automatically. If you are concerned that you may not have received notice concerning a particular service action, please check with your dealer to determine whether your vehicle is eligible for any repair free of charge.
In other instances, Winnebago Industries may offer assistance with a repair beyond warranty on a case-by-case basis. If you believe that your vehicle needs a repair not covered by warranty which Winnebago Industries should pay for in part or in whole, please discuss the request with your dealer. If you are not satisfied with your dealer’s decision, please contact Winnebago Industries’ Owner Relations Department by telephone or in writing. Your request should provide the vehicle identification number of your vehicle, the mileage, maintenance history, and an explanation of why you believe that the repair should be performed free of charge. Your request should be accompanied by all available maintenance and repair records which you have retained. An Owner Relations Representative will review your request and advise you of our decision.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new Rialta motor home, which has been carefully designed, engineered and quality built by Winnebago Industries, Inc.
ABOUT THIS MANUAL
Please read this operator’s manual completely to understand how everything in your coach works before taking it on its “maiden voyage.”
This manual is a guide to safe operation of the features, equipment and controls in this coach. Some equipment, such as the vehicle chassis and certain electronic systems or appliances, have their own comprehensive, manufacturer supplied manuals or information sheets which describe operation of these products in great detail. This manual will refer you to the manufacturer’s information included in your Owner I whenever necessary.
SUBJECT ICONS - To make it easier for you to find information you’re looking for, we have placed convenient, pictorial symbols called “icons” beside many of the subject headings in this manual. The icons correspond to the subject matter of the section. These icons were designed similar to the familiar international symbols which identify public facilities such as restrooms and handicap access. There are several examples of icons on this page.
PAGE ICONS - The icons at the upper corners of each page correspond to the primary content of each main section of the manual, such as LP Gas, Electrical, Plumbing, etc. This means you can flip through the manual either forward or backward and know exactly which main section you are looking for just by watching the icons at the top of the page. This means less paging back and forth.
We also urge you to read the complete Chassis Operating Guide provided by the chassis maker and all other operating information provided by our equipment suppliers and manufacturers. This is contained in your

ifications in this manual were correct at the time of printing. We reserve the right to change specifications or design without notice, and without incurring obligation to install the same on products previously manufactured.
CHASSIS OWNER’S MANUAL
Throughout this manual, frequent reference is made to the vehicle chassis owner’s manual. The chassis manual is the operator’s manual provided by Volkswagen, the manufacturer of the chassis on which this motor home is built. Consult the chassis guide for operating safety and maintenance instructions pertaining to the Volkswagen chassis section of the motor home.

INTRODUCTION
BEFORE DRIVING
Winnebago or Itasca dealership and they will assist you.
Before sitting in the driver’s seat, always check around your vehicle to be sure you have proper clearance for maneuvering. If necessary, have a passenger help guide you out of a difficult parking space.
Although your coach features automotive conveniences like power steering and power brakes, driving a motor home is different from driving a car. A motor home is larger and heavier than an automobile, so it requires more stopping and passing distance, and more parking and maneuvering space than does a car.
Always be aware of the size of your motor home. The added height of roof air conditioners, TV antennas or luggage boxes may cause clearance problems around some tunnels, canopies and hanging signs. Know the height of your unit so you can observe posted clearance limits. Also, remember that some bridges, old ones in particular, may not support the weight of your motor home. Know the weight of your unit and observe any posted weight limits.
Remember: Always use your seat belt and be sure your passengers do so as well. We also advise making frequent rest stops while traveling to relieve stress on yourself, your passengers and your vehicle.
WARRANTY
Your new vehicle is covered by a factory warranty against defects in material and workmanship. This warranty should be validated immediately and returned to the factory by your dealer. For additional information, see your “New Vehicle Limited Warranty” included with this vehicle.
DRINKING AND DRIVING
Winnebago Industries supports the recommendations of the Presidential Commission on Drunk Driving.
Exercise your good judgment and encourage
others to do the same.
Know the legal limits and do not exceed
them.
Also know your personal limits, which may
be lower than the legal limits.
Should you ever exceed your limits, find al-
ternative transportation; call a cab, ask a
friend to drive you home or call a family
member to come and get you.
SERVICE AND ASSISTANCE
Your Rialta dealer will be glad to provide any additional information you need, as well as answer any questions you might have about operating the equipment in your motor home. When it comes to service, remember that your dealer knows your vehicle best and is interested in your satisfaction. Your dealer will provide quality maintenance and any other assistance that you may require during your ownership of this vehicle.
If you need warranty repairs while traveling, however you may take your motor home to any

REPORTING SAFETY DEFECTS
If you believe that your vehicle has a defect which could cause a crash or could cause injury or death, you should immediately inform the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in addition to notifying Winnebago Industries, Inc.
If NHTSA receives similar complaints, it may open an investigation, and if it finds that a
safety defect exists in a group of vehicles, it may order a recall and remedy campaign. However, NHTSA cannot become involved in individual problems between you, your dealer, or Winnebago Industries.
To contact NHTSA, you may either call the Auto Safety Hotline toll-free at 1-800-424-9393 (or 366-0123 in Washington, D.C. area) or write to: NHTSA, U.S. Department of Transportation, Washington, D.C. 20590. You can also obtain other information about motor vehicle safety from the Hotline.

SECTION 1
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Read and understand all instructions and precautions in this manual before operating your new Rialta motor home.
About Safety Messages Used in This Manual
Throughout this manual, certain items are labeled Note, Caution, Warning or Danger. These terms alert you to precautions that may involved damage to your vehicle or a risk to your personal safety. Read and follow them carefully.
This SAFETY ALERT SYMBOL is used to draw your attention to issues which could involved potential personal injury. This symbol is used throughout this manual and/or on labels affixed on or near various equipment in this motor home.
DANGER
DANGER indicates a directly hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious personal injury.
WARNING
NOTE: A ‘Note’ is not necessarily safety related but indicates a recommendation or special point of information that could assist in understanding the use or care of a feature item.
The following pages provide safety precautions that must be adhered to. These precautions as well as others that involve possible injury or damage to equipment are also displayed in the appropriate areas in this manual.
GENERAL WARNINGS
Only seats equipped with seat belts are to be
occupied while the vehicle is moving.
Make sure all passengers have seat belts fas-
tened in a low and snug position so the force exerted by the belt in a collision will be spread across the strong hip area. Place the lap belt across the lap as low on the hips as possible. Pull the retractor belt so that the belt is snug and the mechanism takes up the slack. Pregnant women should wear a lap-shoulder belt whenever possible, with the lap belt portion worn low and snug throughout the pregnancy.
WARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious personal injury.
CAUTION
CAUTION indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in damage mainly to equipment or property, but in some cases may also result in minor or moderate personal injury.
Never allow passengers to stand or kneel on
seats while the vehicle is moving.
Sleeping facilities are not to be utilized while
vehicle is moving.
Examine the escape window and be familiar
with its operation, but do not use except in an emergency.
Ιnspect the fire extinguisher monthly for
proper charge and operating condition. This should also be done before beginning a vacation or any extended trip.

DRIVING
Check and maintain tire pressure per inflation pressures shown on tires. This should be done prior to extended trips and when refueling.
Do not attempt to adjust the driver’s seat while the vehicle is moving.
Do not adjust tilt steering in a moving vehicle.
items such as the range, chassis engine, generator engine, refrigerator, furnace and water heater. They contain carbon monoxide, which is an odorless, colorless and poisonous gas.
Do not bring or store LP gas containers, gasoline or other flammable liquids inside the vehicle because a fire or explosion may result. LP gas containers are equipped with safety valves which relieve excessive pressure by discharging gas to the atmosphere.
Do not operate the cruise control on icy or extremely wet roads, winding roads, in heavy traffic, or in any other traffic situation where a constant speed cannot be maintained.
Use care when accelerating or decelerating on a slippery surface. Abrupt speed changes can cause skidding and loss of control.
Driving through water deep enough to wet the brakes may affect stopping distance or cause the vehicle to pull to one side. Check brake operation in a safe area to be sure they have not been affected. Never operate any vehicle if a difference in braking efficiency is noticeable.
Adverse weather conditions and extremes in terrain may affect handling and/or performance of your vehicle. Refer to your chassis manual for related information.
FUEL & LP GAS
Do not alter the LP gas system at any time or in any way.
Do not fill LP gas container(s) above 80 percent of capacity. Overfilling the LP gas container can result in uncontrolled gas flow which can cause fire or explosion. A properly filled container will contain approximately 80 percent of its volume as liquid LP gas.
Never use an open flame to test for LP gas leaks. Replace all protective covers and caps on LP system after filling. Make sure valve is closed and door latched securely.
Never connect natural gas to the LP gas system.
When lighting range burners do not turn burner controls to “On” and allow gas to escape before lighting match.
Portable fuel-burning equipment, including wood and charcoal grills and stoves, shall not be used inside the recreational vehicle. The use of this equipment inside the recreational vehicle may cause fires or asphyxiation.
All pilot lights must be extinguished and appliances turned off while refilling the fuel tank or LP tank.
Never smoke while refilling vehicle fuel tank or LP gas tank.
Avoid inhaling exhaust gases produced by burned gasoline, diesel fuel or LP gas in

LP gas regulators must always be installed with the diaphragm vent facing downward. Regulators that are not in compartments have been equipped with a protective cover. Make sure that the regulator vent faces downward and that the cover is kept in place to minimize vent blockage which could result in excessive gas pressure causing fire or explosion.
The following warning label is located in the cooking area to remind you to provide an ad-
equate supply of fresh air for combustion.

FAILURE TO COMPLY COULD RESULT IN
DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.
Unlike large homes, the oxygen supply inside a recreational vehicle is limited due to its size. To avoid danger of asphyxiation, provide proper ventilation when using the gas range top or gas oven. It is especially important that the gas oven and range top not be used for comfort heating. Danger of asphyxiation is greater when these appliances are used for long periods of time.
SECTION 1
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
LP GAS ALARM
Your coach is equipped with an LP gas detector which sounds an alarm if an unsafe amount of LP gas is present inside the coach. Because LP gas is heavier than air, the detector is located on the rear galley cabinet face near the floor of the coach.
A green light on the face of the alarm shows when the unit is active. If the detector senses LP gas, the alarm will make a loud, pulsating sound and the red light will come on. Pressing the “MUTE” button will stop the alarm for 60 seconds. If there is no more detectable LP gas, the alarm will stay off. If the detector still senses LP gas by the end of the 60 second mute mode, the alarm will sound again.
Press to Stop Alarm
LP GAS LEAKS
The following label is located in the vehicle near the range area. If you smell gas within the vehicle, quickly and carefully perform the procedures listed.
DANGER
IF YOU SMELL GAS
1. EXTINGUISH ANY OPEN FLAME, PILOT LIGHTS AND ALL SMOKING MATERIALS.
2. DO NOT TOUCH ELECTRICAL SWITCHES.
3. SHUT OFF THE GAS SUPPLY AT THE TANK VALVE(S) OR GAS SUPPLY CONNECTIONS.
4. OPEN DOORS AND OTHER VENTILATING OPENINGS.
5. LEAVE THE AREA UNTIL ODOR CLEARS.
6. HAVE THE GAS SYSTEM CHECKED AND LEAKAGE SOURCE CORRECTED BEFORE USING AGAIN.

If the Alarm Sounds
If the alarm sounds, do not touch any electrical switches. Immediately turn off the main LP tank valve and all LP appliances, open all windows and roof vents, and leave the coach until the alarm stops sounding.
If the alarm keeps sounding at regular intervals, a leak may be present. Contact your dealer or an LP gas service center to have the problem corrected before using the LP system again.

SECTION 1
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Never use an open flame to test for gas leaks.
When testing for gas line leaks with a soapy water solution, DO NOT use a detergent containing ammonia or chlorine. These substances may generate a chemical reaction causing corrosion to gas lines, resulting in dangerous leak conditions.
Power Connection
The gas alarm is powered by the coach batteries. If the battery cable is disconnected from the batteries or the fuse is blown, the alarm will not work. The LP gas alarm fuse is located on the power converter fuse panel shown on page 6-6.
If the coach batteries become extremely drained (8.5 volts or less), the amber Low Voltage/FAULT light on the face of the alarm will come on, and in some rare cases the LP alarm may begin to sound on its own. This condition is not likely to occur except during storage situations when coach battery charge is not being restored by the converter charger.
Because the LP gas alarm is connected directly to the auxiliary battery, it is always drawing a small amount of current. Even though this current draw is slight, it could drain the coach battery during storage periods when the house battery will not be charged regularly by the engine or shoreline. To avoid battery discharge we recommend turning the Aux. Batt switch off during storage periods or between periodic weekend usage.
vapors for months after they are applied. They are easily activated by high temperatures. If you close up an RV coach on a hot day, the chemicals used in its construction may be detected for months after the coach was manufactured.
Further Information
See the manufacturer’s information entitled “Your LP Gas Detector” in your Owner/InfoCase for further instructions on nuisance alarms and care and testing of the LP gas detector.
ELECTRICAL
Careless handling of electrical components
can be fatal. Never touch or use electrical components or appliances while feet are bare, while hands are wet, or while standing in water or on wet ground.
Improper grounding of the vehicle can cause
personal injury. Do not plug the utility power cord into an outlet which is not grounded and do not adapt the plug to connect to a receptacle for which it is not designed.
Do not attach an extension cord to the utility
power cord.
Be sure that all electrical appliances to be
used contain 3-prong plugs for proper grounding.
Other Combustible Fumes or Vapors
This alarm is designed to detect the presence of LP gas, however there are other combustible fumes or vapors which may be detected by the sensor. These include: alcohol, liquor, deodorants, colognes, perfumes, wine, adhesives, lacquer, kerosene, gasoline, glues, most all cleaning agents and the propellants of aerosol cans. Most are lighter than air in their vapor state and will only be detected when the area is closed up. Glues and adhesives may exhaust hydrocarbon

Avoid overloading electrical circuits. Replace fuses or circuit breakers with those of the same size and amperage rating only. Never use a higher rated fuse or breaker.
Use caution when handling or working near electrical storage batteries. Always remove jewelry and wear protective clothing and eye covering. Avoid creating sparks.
LOADING
Store or secure all loose items inside the motor home before traveling. Possible overlooked items such as canned goods or small appliances on the countertop, cooking pans on the range, or free-standing furniture items can become dangerous projectiles during a sudden stop or evasive maneuver.
Be aware of GVWR, GAWR and individual load limit on each tire. (See “Loading the Motor Home” in Section 4.)
Never load the motor home in excess of the gross vehicle weight rating or the gross axle weight rating for either axle.
NOTE: Your motor home’s load capacity is
designated by weight, not by volume, so you cannot necessarily use all available space when loading your motor home.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
FORMALDEHYDE INFORMATION
WARNING
Although Winnebago did not use formaldehyde based adhesives to manufacture this vehicle, some raw materials used, such as plywood, carpet and fabrics may contain formaldehyde based adhesives which may release formaldehyde fumes into the air for an unknown period of time until total dissipation occurs. Individuals who are allergic to formaldehyde gas fumes may experience irritation to eyes, ears, nose and throat. Although long range effects are not well understood, testing to date has not revealed any serious health effects in humans at the level of emission from these products.
NOTE: To aid in dissipation, ventilate the
vehicle by opening all windows and circulating the air with a fan.
MAINTENANCE
Do not remove the radiator cap while engine and radiator are still hot. Always check coolant level visually at the see-through coolant reservoir.
Never get beneath a vehicle that is held up by a jack.
Do not mix different construction types of tires on the vehicle such as radial, bias or belted tires, as vehicle handling may be affected. Replace tires with exact size, type and load range See Section 9 for tire specifications.
Do not attempt to start the vehicle by hot wiring.
CARBON MONOXIDE WARNING
WARNING
Avoid inhaling exhaust gases, as they contain carbon monoxide, which is a colorless, odorless and poisonous gas.
If you suspect that exhaust fumes are entering the passenger compartment, have the cause determined and corrected as soon as possible. If you must drive under these conditions, drive only with ALL WINDOWS FULLY OPENED.
The best protection against carbon monoxide entry into the vehicle body is a properly maintained engine exhaust and ventilation system. It is recommended that the exhaust system and body

be inspected by a qualified motor home service center.
Each time the vehicle is raised for an oil change.
Whenever a change in the sound of the exhaust system is noticed.
Whenever the exhaust system, underbody or rear of the vehicle is damaged.
To allow proper operation of the vehicle’s ventilation system, keep front ventilation inlet grill clear of snow, leaves or other obstructions at all times. DO NOT OCCUPY A PARKED VEHICLE WITH ENGINE RUNNING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD.
Do not run engine in confined areas, such as a garage, except to move vehicle in or out of area. When vehicle is stopped in an UNCONFINED area with the engine running for any more than a short period, adjust heating or cooling system to force outside air into the vehicle as follows:
1. Set fan to medium or high speed and vent
control to air.
2. On vehicles equipped with air conditioning,
set fan to medium or high speed and set control to obtain maximum vent air.
Rear windows should be closed while driving to avoid drawing dangerous exhaust gases into the vehicle.
The CO alarm is powered by a 9-volt battery and contains a sensor that is designed to detect toxic carbon monoxide gas fumes resulting from incomplete combustion of fuel. It will detect CO gas from any combustion source such as the furnace, gas range/oven, refrigerator, chassis engine, and electric generator engine.
Monthly Testing
Press the TEST button on the face of the alarm periodically (at least monthly) to check the function of the alarm and condition of the battery. If the alarm begins to beep every few seconds, the battery may be weak and need replacement. (Press the TEST button to be sure before replacing the battery. If the alarm sounds, the battery may still be okay. If the alarm still beeps every few seconds, check the smoke detector also. The “low battery” warning beep is similar on many alarm devices, so the origin of this electronic sound can be deceiving.)
CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM
Your coach is equipped with a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm, located on the underside of the overhead cabinet above the left rear dinette seat.
