chassis whenever you work with the hardware. Do not
make connections while the power is on. Sensitive
electronic components can be damaged by sudden

should open the PC chassis.

or static-shielded bag when they are not in the chassis.

1 INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on purchasing Winmate® E-Series HMI. Winmate®
continues developing new generation of Human Machine Interfaces
for Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT). Our E-Series HMI runs
on Android 6.0 / Linux operating system that allows installing the
latest applications (APPs). Thereby wide customization possibilities
are available to satisfy the needs of industrial automation.

There is one USB 2.0 onboard to connect mouse or keyboard, USB
OTG for system updates and micro SD card for data logging,
backup or data storage. System memory of 1 GB ensures stable
operation of applications.

With mounting clips for panel mounting there is no need to drill
holes in a fixture. This saves you the time for mounting and
guarantee aesthetic look of the wall after the unit gets removed.

2 GETTING STARTED

2.1 Turning on Your Device

Follow the following steps to turn on your HMI device:

1. Connect a 2-pin terminal block to the HMI connector.

2. Connect the other side of the terminal block to the AC adapter.

3. Connect the AC adapter to the power cord.

4. Plug the power cord to the AC outlet and the device will turn

on automatically.

CAUTION
Use only the AC adapter included in your package
(Rating: Output 4.2 A). Using other AC adapters may
damage the device.

*For 4.3” HMI connect AC Adapter to DC power jack.

ALTERNATING CURRENT

This product must be grounded. Use only a grounded
AC outlet. Install the additional PE ground wire if the
local installation regulations require it.

2.2 Connecting to Other Devices

2.2.1 DC Input Connector

Power Jack

DC power source input for 4.3” HMI is power jack.

Terminal Block

DC power source input for 7”/ 10.1”/ 15.6” is 2-pin terminal block
connector that requires maximum voltage 12V.

2.2.2 Serial Port Connector

Use serial port connector to connect your HMI to external devices
such as mouse, modem or printer.

2.2.3 LAN (RJ45) Connector

The E-Series HMI supports one 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet interface
for connecting to the internet.

IMPORTANT:

Supports PoE (Optional).
Power Device (PD) follows IEEE 802.3at (25W).

2.2.6 USB OTG Connector

Use USB OTG connector to connect the HMI device to other external
devices. Use USB OTG cable to install software on the HMI device.

2.3 Changing Serial Port Settings

Serial COM Port can be configured for RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485.
Winmate provide COM port settings application for Android OS.

To configure serial port settings:

1. Settings > Accessibility.

2. Accessibility > System: Comport-Setting.

2.4.2 Configuring Ethernet

*Ethernet OFF is set by default. Swipe Ethernet ON to activate Ethernet

2.4.3 Checking Ethernet Settings

To check Ethernet settings:

Go to All Apps > Ethernet > Check Ethernet

2.5 Winmate® Home Manager

Winmate ® E-Series HMI comes with preinstalled APP named
Winmate® Home Manager (WHM) which let the device manager to
lock the launcher then the user can only use one application
assigned by the device manager.

2.5.1 How to Lock Applications

To lock applications:

1. In the main APPS window, select the Home Manager APP
and tap it to open.

2. Go to “Application Selector”, and choose the app which you
want to run up automatically after booting.

3. Go back to “Home Selector” and press “Clear and Reset

Default Home”.

4. Select “Restrict Home” and “Always”, and then restart the

computer to enable these settings.

The system will automatically start the application which you selected
and lock it. Any time user presses home key or back key; the system
will go back to the same application which you have selected.

2.5.2 How to Unlock Application

Follow the instruction below to reset Home Manager.

1. If you want to reset the home manager, pull down the left side to
open the status bar and open HomeManager.

2. System will request the password to login. Touch OK.

Default password is “0000”.

3. Restart the system and you will go back to the normal Launcher.

2.5.3 How to Change Password

To change the password:

1. Go to Password Manager and set your own password for this APP.

2. The default password is “0000”. Enter a new password in New

Password field, and then tap Change Password.

2.6 Turning off Your Device

Disconnect the power cord from the HMI device to completely turn off
the device.

3 INSTALLATION

3.1 Wiring Requirements

The following common safety precautions should be observed before
installing any electronic device:

 Strive to use separate, non-intersecting paths to route power

and networking wires. If power wiring and device wiring paths
must cross make sure the wires are perpendicular at the
intersection point.

 Keep the wires separated according to interface. The rule of

thumb is that wiring that shares similar electrical characteristics
may be bundled together.

 Do not bundle input wiring with output wiring. Keep them

separate.

 When necessary, it is strongly advised that you label wiring to

all devices in the system.

 Do not run signal or communication wiring and power wiring in

the same conduit. To avoid interference, wires with different
signal characteristics (i.e., different interfaces) should be routed
separately.

 Be sure to disconnect the power cord before installing and/or

wiring your device.

 Verify the maximum possible current for each wire gauge,

especially for the power cords. Observe all electrical codes
dictating the maximum current allowable for each wire gauge.

 If the current goes above the maximum ratings, the wiring could

overheat, causing serious damage to your equipment.

 Be careful when handling the unit. When the unit is plugged in,

the internal components generate a lot of heat which may leave
the outer casing too hot to touch.

3.2 Mounting Solution

3.2.1 VESA Mounting

VESA Mount is a widely used mounting solution suitable for all kinds
of industrial applications. Notice that VESA mounting solution applies
only to 7” E-Series HMI.

Mounting Instruction:

1. Screw VESA bracket to the fixture (ex. wall) with four M4 x 3

mm VESA screws.

2. Place the device on VESA bracket.

3.2.2 Panel Mounting

In addition to elegant design, panel mount solution is making the HMI
unit easy to clean and maintain. The HMI device is secured to the
fixture from the rear by using the mounting brackets included in the
package.

APPENDIX

Appendix A: Cleaning the Monitor

Before cleaning:

 Make sure the device is turned off.
 Disconnect the power cable from any AC outlet.

When cleaning:

 Never spray or pour any liquid directly on the screen or case.
 Wipe the screen with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. This removes

dust and other particles.

 The display area is highly prone to scratching. Do not use

ketene type material (ex. Acetone), Ethyl alcohol, toluene, ethyl
acid or Methyl chloride to clear the panel. It may permanently
damage the panel and void the warranty.

 If it is still not clean enough, apply a small amount of non-

ammonia, non-alcohol based glass cleaner onto a clean, soft,
lint-free cloth, and wipe the screen.

 Don not use water or oil directly on the display screen. If

droplets are allowed to drop on the screen, permanent staining
or discoloration may occur.
