What should I look for when purchasing an air cleaner?
Understanding CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate)
Look only for models with AHAM Certification. The Association of
Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) is an organization that certifies
the testing results of home appliances including Air Cleaners. AHAM’s
CADR rating helps sort through the confusion of product claims that can
make choosing an Air Cleaner challenging by offering a Recommended
Room Size and the Clean Air Delivery Rate for a model. Essentially the
CADR determines how well an air cleaner reduces pollutants such as
tobacco smoke, pollen and dust.
