This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING
Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance-if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120volt circuit and has a grounding attachment plug that looks like the plug illustrated in figure A. Charging battery
Danger
Danger of explosion. Wet batteries can only be charged with opened hood.
Note
The device is equipped with a safety mechanism to prevent total discharge, i.e. when the permissible minimum capacity is reached, then the brush motors and the turbine are switched off. In such a case, the battery level indicator on the control console glows red. The traction is still active:
Î Drive the machine directly to the char-
ging station; avoid any steep gradients in
the process.
Note
If the safety mechanism to prevent total discharge has been activated, then the battery must first be charged fully (until the battery level indicator glows green). Only then will the electronic system unlock the functions.
Danger
Risk of electric shock. Observe supply network and fuse protection - see "Charger". Only use the charger in dry rooms with sufficient ventilation!
Note
Average charging time is approx. 10 -15 hours. The recommended chargers (matching the batteries used) are regulated electronically and will automatically switch off the charging process. All functions of the machine are automatically interrupted during the charging process.

Maintenance-free batteries (wet batteries)
Î Add distilled water one hour before the
end of the charging process; follow the correct acid level. There are corresponding indicators on the battery.
Danger
Danger of caustic material! – Adding water to the battery in its dischar-
ged state can cause the acid to leak.
– Use safety glasses while handling batte-
ry acid and follow the safety instructions to avoid personal injury or damage to clothes.
– Should the acid spray on to the skin or
clothes, rinse immediately with lots of water.
Warning
Risk of damage! – Use only distilled or desalinated water
(VDE 0510) for filling the battery.
– Do not add any substances (so-called
performance improving agents), this will void the warranty.
