The DISPLAY shows at a glance the chosen power setting and, if applicable, the chosen function. After turning any of the knobs, the PAN DETECTION feature turns on the respective heating zone automatically as soon as a
metallic cooking utensil of appropriate size is placed onto that heating zone. The utensil has to cover at least 50% of the outer heating zone rim for the automatic pan detection to be activated (see sketch). On removing the pan from the heating zone, the latter is turned off automatically by the pan detection feature. After the pan has
been removed from the heating zone, the pan detection feature automatically switches the zone into “standby” mode for one minute, i.e. if the pan is placed back onto the heating zone within one minute, pan detection switches back on again automatically. If the pan is kept away from the heating zone for longer than one minute, the heating zone is turned off automatically and the knob has to be turned back to the “0” position again in order to reactivate this function.
Pan detection can be turned off for non-metallic cooking utensils. In this case the respective heating zone works just like a normal heating zone without pan detection.
When finished cooking turn all the knobs back to the "0" position.
Ideal
The ELECTRONIC CONTROL keeps variations in heating zone temperature to a minimum thus ensuring uniform cooking at all times.
The BOIL DRY FUNCTION detects abnormal situations such as when the pan has boiled dry and turns the respective heating zone off automatically.
The DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM continually checks that the hob is working properly and indicates if there is a fault.

Possible user messages
Using the hob
Flashing indicator lamp: Special feature selected. Indicator lamp on continuously: Special feature active.
“U that moves up and down”: When pan detection is
active this display indicates either that there is no cooking utensil placed on the heating zone or the utensil is not positioned properly.
With “U at a standstill” the heating zone has been turned off by pan detection and the knob has to be turned back to the “0” position to activate the zone again.
Heat level indicator: Each digit (from 1 to 10) corresponds to a power setting selected via the control knob. If the display digit flashes, boil dry detection is active.
Fine adjustment of the heat setting: An additional intermediate heat setting (1.5) can be selected between control knob settings 1 and 2.
Turn the knob (for the cooking zone to be used) clockwise to the desired power level or to the symbol corresponding to the function required.
To turn the cooking zone off, turn the knob until the mark is at position “0”.
The hob functions (e.g. Turbo heat) are explained in the separate product description for the hob.
Whilst using the hob and/or the oven the cooling fan works continuously, adjusting its ventilation capacity according to the heat setting selected.
After turning the hob and/or oven off, the cooling fan may continue running for a while in order to cool down the appliances and adjacent kitchen fixtures.
“Turning pan detection on and off”
With this hob, pan detection is usually activated after turning on, although it can still be switched off manually if necessary.
Turning it off:
1. Turn the control knob for the relevant heating zone to the Gentle Heat function .
2. The function indicator lamp starts flashing.
3. Turn the control knob back to “0”, the function indicator lamp now stays on permanently. Now, within 5 seconds, turn the control knob to the desired heat setting or function.
Turning it on:
1. To turn pan detection back on again, turn the control knob to the “0” position. After around 5-7 seconds pan detection is activated once again automatically, the function indicator then goes off.
Please note: The turning off or turning back on again, where necessary, has to be carried out for each separate heating zone.
Turbo heat: The booster function is turned on for fast boiling .
Hob still hot warning: The hot hob warning (“H”) stays on after the heating zone
has been turned off until the temperature has fallen to a safe level.
If any display readout shows an “F” message, please get in touch with after-sales service.
