HOW TO OPERATE THE FREEZER
This freezer can be used for storing frozen food and freezing fresh food.
The freezer is designed to operate at room temperatures between +16º C and +32º C.
Starting up the freezer
• There is no need to set the freezer temperature
using the thermostat knob because it has already been preset in the factory.
• Plug in the appliance.
• The alarm is activated, since the temperature
inside the freezer is not low enough for inserting the foodstuff.
• Place the foodstuff inside only when the alarm is deactivated (for more details consult the enclosed product chart).
Temperature regulation
For temperature regulation, consult the enclosed product chart.
Note
Internal freezer temperatures are affected by room temperature, frequency of opening of the door and the position of the freezer.
The thermostat setting must be changed depending on these factors.
Activation of rapid freezing
The quantity in kilos of fresh food that can be frozen within 24 hours is indicated on the appliance rating plate.
For optimal freezing, press the rapid freeze button (until the yellow pilot lamp comes on) 24 hours before placing food inside the freezer.
About 24 hours of rapid freezing are usually sufficient; after this period switch off the rapid freeze function.
Warning:
For small quantities of food, the rapid freeze function can be disconnected after a few hours, in order to save power consumption.

HOW TO OPERATE THE FREEZER
Storage of frozen foods
When buying frozen foods, make sure that:
•
The wrapping or the package is intact or the food may deteriorate. If the package is swollen or has damp patches, it may not have been stored under optimal conditions and thawing may have already begun.
•
Frozen foods should always be purchased last and thermal bags must be used for transport.
•
Once you are home, place the frozen foods immediately in the freezer.
•
Never refreeze partially thawed foods, use them within 24 hours.
•
Avoid or reduce temperature variations to a minimum. Follow the instructions regarding the best before date on the pack.
•
Always follow the instructions on the package regarding storage of frozen foods.
Removal of the drawers
•
Pull the drawer outwards as far as it will go, left slightly and extract it.
Note:
Drawers and runners may be removed in order to obtain increased storage space (Fig. 1).
Making ice cubes
•
Fill the ice cube tray 2/3 full of water and place it in the freezer compartment.
•
If the tray is stuck to the freezer bottom, do not use pointed or sharp objects to remove it.
•
In order to remove the ice cubes with ease, bend the tray slightly.
Note:
Reopening the freezer door will be difficult immediately after it has been shut.
Wait for two or three minutes, so that the slight vacuum in the freezer is eliminated.

HOW TO DEFROST AND CLEAN THE FREEZER
Before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning, always unplug the appliance or switch the power supply off.
In the case of electronic models, push the on/off button before unplugging the appliance.
Defrost the freezer once or twice a year when too much frost has accumulated on the freezer grids.
Frost buildup on the freezer grids is normal. The quantity and rapidity of accumulation varies according to ambient conditions and the frequency of opening of the door and tends to be greater on the uppermost grids.
It is advisable to defrost the freezer when there is very little food stored in it.
• Open the door, remove all the food from the
freezer, wrap in sheets of newspaper and put in a cool place or in a thermal bag.
• Leave the freezer door open to allow the frost to melt.
• Pull out the defrost water drain and place a tray below it.
• Clean the inside of the freezer using a sponge soaked in a solution of warm water and neutral detergent. Do not use abrasive substances.
• Rinse and dry carefully.
• Fit the drain back in place.
• Place the foods inside.
• Close the freezer door.
• Plug in the appliance again.
• Start up the freezer. Note: In the case of electronic models, push
the on/off button after plugging in the appliance and before restarting it.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Periodically clean the condenser on the rear of the appliance, using a vacuum cleaner or a soft brush.
Prolonged disuse (holidays, etc.)
• Empty the freezer.
• Disconnect it from the mains supply.
• Defrost and clean the inside.
• Leave the door open in order to prevent the formation of odours and eliminate internal humidity.
