INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
REGULATED AND FILTERED
POWER SUPPLY ("A" BATTERY)
Use this product according to this instruction manual. Please keep this instruction manual for future reference.
MODEL NO.: RPS-2440-A
DESCRIPTION: The RPS-2440-A Dual Power Supply consists of two "A" Battery outputs, each providing 2 Amps of current at
24VDC. When the two outputs are connected in parallel, the RPS-2440-A will provide up to 4 Amps of "A Battery current at 24VDC
fully regulated and filtered, each output is provided with independent LED "power" on indicators; current limiting, overload and short
circuit protection; automatic shutdown and reset.
NOTE: All CAUTIONS and WARNINGS are identified by the symbol . All warnings are printed in bold capital letters.
SPECIFICATIONS: Nominal Output Voltage: 24VDC
Regulation: +/- 5%
Ripple Voltage: 10 mVrms maximum
Output Current:
(A) Each output: 2.0A
(B) Dual outputs: 4.0A
(connected in parallel)
Input Voltage: 117VAC, +/- 10%, 60Hz
Installation: 4 Binding Posts
Terminal Wire Gauge:
(A) Minimum: 24 (American Wire Gauge)
(B) Maximum: 14 (American Wire Gauge)
Note: For 12 AWG Wire, use Spade Lugs.
Duty Cycle: continuous
Power Line Cord: 6 Ft.
INSTALLATION: The RPS-2440-A is designed for shelf or wall mounting.
CAUTION: Make sure the power supply switch is in the "OFF" position, and the power line cord is not plugged in.
1) Using the mounting screws provided, mount the Power Supply to a secure wooden surface. For other surfaces, appropriate
mounting hardware should be used See Figure 1.
2) Remove terminal block cover by squeezing the clips at each end. See Figure 1A.
3) Each of the Power Supply outputs provides 2 Amps. This allows 24VDC (to power the Paging System) to be conveniently
distributed over 2 independent 2 Amp circuits. See Figure 2. Alternately, the 2 outputs can be connected in parallel to provide
one 24VDC circuit providing up to 4 Amps. See Figure 3. Connect 24VDC to the Paging System, as specified on the individual
product instruction sheets. Snap cover back onto the terminal block clips.
4) Plug in the Power Supply cord to a 117VAC outlet and push the power switch to the "ON" position. The 2 red "power" on LED's
(on the front panel will illuminate to indicate power is being supplied to each output. Each LED can be identified with its related
output by the designations A1 and A2.

TROUBLE SHOOTING:
CONDITION CHECK
24VDC not being supplied 1) Verify that an input voltage of 105.3 to 128.7 VAC at 60HZ is
to paging system equipment. present.
2) The power switch should be in the "ON" position.
3) If the circuit breaker (on the back of the unit) has tripped,
push in the reset button in the center of the circuit breaker.
If the problem still exists, turn the power supply off. Disconnect the field wiring from the binding posts of the malfunctioning circuit
(ie. A1, A2 or both A1 and A2 if connected in parallel). Turn on the power supply and check for the presence of 24VDC
at the output terminals. The power on LED's should also be lit. If the power supply is operating properly, check the field wiring for a
short circuit condition. Also verify that the connected paging systems equipment does not draw more than 2 Amps per output, or more
than 4 Amps when the outputs are connected in parallel. If the problem is determined to be the power supply, return the unit to
Wheelock for servicing.
CAUTION: TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCK DO NOT REMOVE COVER. NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS
INSIDE. REFER SERVICING TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.
IMPORTANT: READ SEPARATE "GENERAL INFORMATION" SHEET FOR INFORMATION ON THE PLACEMENT,
LIMITATIONS, INSTALLATION, FINAL CHECKOUT, AND PERIODIC TESTING OF NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES.
