SETTING UP AN AV SYSTEM
Most digital AV processorsrequire you to specify thesize ofspeakers inall operationalchannels. Theseare usually‘Large’
or ‘Small’.Set allthe bookshelf speakers to“Small“. This will directall the bass in the system to the subwoofer for clean,
deep and louder bass. The floorstanding loudspeakers should be set to “Large“. It is normal for centre and effects
speakersto beset to“Small“. Setthe‘Subwoofer’ optionon theprocessor to“on”.If thereis nosubwoofer inthe system set
allthe speakersto “Large”andset thesubwoofer to“Off”
When the loudspeaker settings are finalised, put theAV amplifier into its “Test” mode (see your processor instructions),
Adjustthe levelsuntil allchannels areequallyloud.
Ensurethat thelistening seatis centraltothe loudspeakers.
Adjust the speakers for the optimum performance. You will find that afew
degreesmore orless “toein”can affectthe sounddramatically.
Play some musicwith which youare familiar.
The sound should be well balanced with a firm bass. If the sound lacks definition or the bass is indistinct, the speakers
couldbe incorrectlywired (outof phase). In thiscase checkthe wiringtothe loudspeakers.
