Unpacking

All Wharfedale Pro products are fully checked before leaving the factory. After unpacking please inspect cabinet for any physical

damage. Please retain the shipping carton if possible and internal packing material in case the unit needs to be returned. Please check as soon as possible the unit is functioning. In the event of any damage please contact your dealer immediately so that a written claim for damages can be made.

Wharfedale Pro Limited Warranty*

The Wharfedale PB-208 Active Subwoofer System is warranted to be clear of manufacturing or materials defects for a period of one year from the original date of purchase. In the event of malfunction, contact your authorised Wharfedale Professional dealer or distributor for information.

Operating/Use

1. Attach your screened signal cable to one of the inputs to The PB-

208 Active Subwoofer System. The PB-208 Active Subwoofer System has two parallel balanced XLR and 1/4 inch jack input sockets and one unbalanced stereo RCA input/output socket.

2. Select your crossover frequency that you wish your sub to deliver.

3. Select the setting phase that is correct for your sub.

4. Adjust your Sub level control to suit the level of satellite speakers

such as Wharfedale Programme Series of loudspeakers.

5.Ensure the unit is working.

1. READ INSTRUCTIONS carefully before operating this product.

RETAIN these instructions.

3. COMPLY WITH WARNINGS - All warnings and instructions for

this product should be adhered to.

4.  WATER & MOISTURE - This Wharfedale Pro unit should not be used near liquids. If should not have liquids placed on or in close proximity as there are DANGEROUS VOLTAGES

present.

5.  VENTILATION/AIR FLOW: This Wharfedale Pro unit should not have its heat sinks obstructed from air flow. It should not be situated in a built-in installation that may hamper air flow to the heat sinks. It should not be placed near heat sources.

6.  POWER SUPPLY: This Wharfedale Pro unit should be only connected to a power supply as stated on the unit. Power supply cables should be routed where they will not be walked on or pinched by objects placed adjacent or upon them.

7.  ELECTRIC SHOCK: Care should be taken that the grounding of this unit is NOT defeated. Do not use this units power cable with an extension cable unless the pins can be fully inserted.

7. CABLES - Use quality screened cables for signal connections.

8.   RIGGING • SUSPENDING • MOUNTING

The rigging, suspension or mounting of this speaker system can expose members of the public to serious health risks and even death. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ATTEMPT TO RIG, SUSPEND OR OTHERWISE MOUNT THIS SYSTEM UNLESS YOU ARE FULLY QUALIFIED AND CERTIFIED TO DO SO BY RELEVENT LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL AUTHORITIES. ALL RELEVENT SAFETY REGULATIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED. IF YOU ARE NOT PROPERLY QUALIFIED OR DO NOT KNOW OF PERTINENT REGULATIONS, CONSULT QUALIFIED PERSONNEL FOR ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE.

9.  CAUTION: These professional loudspeaker systems are

capable of generating very high sound pressure levels. Use care with placement and operation to avoid exposure to excessive levels that can cause permanent hearing damage.

APPLICATION: The PB-208 is a professional sub woofer system, designed for effective use in demanding professional

applications such as the reproduction and reinforcement of bass in venues and applications as diverse as from recording studio to music store

playback, from video

movie playback to restaurant FGM/BGM, discotheques, airports, places of worship, retail premises, restaurants and public houses.

DESCRIPTION:The PB-208 has two 8” (200mm) heavy-duty woofer drive units.The PB-208 is a twin ported acoustically-efficient enclosure.

DEPLOYMENT: The PB-208 is a professional sub woofer system can be mounted in a vertical or horizontal position. With the use of special accessories they can be installed on the wall or ceiling. IMPORTANT NOTE - See Warning Section on RIGGING • SUSPENDING • MOUNTING before attempting to install Wharfedale Pro The PB-208 is a professional sub woofer system.

INPUT LEVEL CONTROL: Controls output level of signal into sub to allow low frequency intergration into system creating a balanced programme.

AUTO SENSE ON/OFF SWITCH: Auto on/off

sleep feature is indicated through a front panel mounted LED. When engaged the PB-208 senses when a signal is not present at the input and places the unit in a standby mode and the ‘blue’ indicator LED on the front baffle board goes out. Once a signal is detected at the input the unit moves into operation mode and the LED activates. This saves the power amp from being constantly engaged during periods when though the unit is required to be operational there will be periods when no signal is present.

BASS BOOST: The PB208 sub woofer features a switch that when engaged boosts the 60Hz band by + 6dB. This feature has benefit to say a music programme when played at low levels where it may appear the lower frequencies sound subdued, the 208-Sub Bass Boost enhances the lower sound for a fuller sound.

PHASE SWITCH: For the smoothest integration into a system, the PB-208 sub woofer phase relationship, to the main system can be moved to any of four points between: In phase, to one full rotation of phase at the selected low pass frequency. These points are equal to “0”, one quarter r, one half and a full phase rotation which can be calculated at for example 80Hz, to an approximate delay in position of “0” (in phase) 1 meter, 2 meters, or 4 meters. These delays can be also be specified in relation to time offsets, as “0”, 4, 8 and 16 milliseconds. With this sophisticated arrangement of controls an installer/user can accurately integrate the PB-208 into a system for optimum sonic integrity and performance. This facilitates variable placement of the PB-208 without fear of non time allined system.
