MEW BLADE AUGNlErr TOOL, NO CHARGE!
This tool, built in our own plant, will be a big help to anyone who lines up the blades on a metal cutting band saw machine. It is fully adjustable for use on blades from 1/2
to 2
wide by simply loosening
a screw and adjusting the spring clip
in the elongated slot to catch all widths of blades from 1/2 By reversing the spring clip to the other end of the blade it is possible to adjust it to align all blade widths
from 3/4
to 2.
to 1.
VOLUME I NO. 2
This tool is available on request to all our distributor service men and salesmen on a no-charge basis. We will also give one to any of your customers who will write us giving the make, model and serial number of their machine along with
their comments on it (good, bad, or
both).

gered or oblique across the saw blade. When they are adjusted too tightly the blade "snakes rollers, trying to bend around them. This severely flexes the blade, causing metal
fatigue and premature failure.

2. CHECK THE WHEEL PITCH ADJUST MENT. It is important that the blade does
not scrub the wheel flange too tightly, nor can it run down off the lower edge of the wheel. If the blade scrubs the flange too tightly the wheel axis is not perpendicular
to the blade line. This creates an edge wise bend in the blade at the point where it runs onto the wheel. If the blade runs down off the wheel the entire blade tension is be ing put only on the back edge of the blade, which causes blade stretch and ultimate fatigue.

We recommend that SAW TALK issues be saved, as we plan to run detailed articles on all of our products. During the next few months a very good reference book can be compiled. Binders with our imprint are available on request, no charge.

It is a true hori zontal band saw, sets up very easily, doesnt de pend on friction through drive rollers to move the stock forward. The question is often raised, "Why not put
a 5/8" blade on this machine instead of the 1/2"?"
This would seem like a good move. In it is, but not most cases.
Using blade prices in the quantity break tables of 10-49, the 5/8" blade costs 13.5% more than the 1/2" blade. Thus, 13 blades 5/8" wide will have to do the work of 15 blades 1/2" wide.
The next consideration is that of blade tooth pitch.
In the 1/2 and 24 tooth raker set and 10, 14 and 24 wavy set.
In addition we can get 3, 4, and 6 pitch hook tooth,
and 3 and 4 pitch skip tooth. In 5/8" blades we have available 8, 10, and 14 pitch raker set only.
There are also a few pitches in high speed and alloy
steel blades available for the l/2" blade, while
there are none for the 5/8" blade.
pay off in cutting larger solids. But in order to use
them to advantage here, we would need a coarser
pitch than is available. This then limits us to the use
and like shapes. On these they will pay off; if the
material must be cut to closer tolerances.
economical, more readily available, has a wider
selection of tooth configuration and pitch. All told, it generally fits the needs of an economical machine
like the Model A-7. However, we do offer the 5/8" blade as an option for those who need it.

Some time back we changed to a new cabi net base on our Model L-9 machine. We felt that the new base would add to its general good looks and usability, which in turn would add to its salability. It also added a storage compartment for the opera tors tools, extra blades, etc. The new base gained immediate acceptance and we are still receiving compliments on it.
After talking with our distributors in the field we found we had solved a big problem for them: the fairly frequent customer who wants an L-9 saw without the coolant system. At present 66% of the L-9s are sold with a coolant most machines are stocked that way. With the
base it is no problem to remove the coolant system from the machine and install it on another. No longer
must you jack the machine up and remove the legs to get the coolant pan off, only a few minutes to remove the entire coolant
unit. And your alternative of
the factory need not inconvenience your customer.
