IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
15. This iron is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or metal capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the iron in a safe way by the person responsible for their safety, and understand the hazards involved.
16. Children should be supervised not to play with the iron.
17. Do not use the iron when children are in the vicinity. Never leave an unattended iron on the ironing board as the appliance may get knocked over and fall onto a child.
18. Always turn the power o at the power outlet before you insert or remove the power plug. Remove by grasping the plug - do not pull on the cord.
19. This iron is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
20. Do not place your iron on or near a hot gas flame, electric element, heated oven or any hot surface.
21. Do not place the iron on top of any other appliance.
22. Do not permit the mains supply cord or plug to touch a hot soleplate or other hot objects, or allow the power cord to lay across the iron.
23. Do not allow the power cord of this appliance to hang over the edge of a table or bench top.
24. Your iron should not be left unattended while in use.
25. The iron must be used and rested on its heel stand on an even, level and stable – preferably heat-resistant surface, such as an ironing board.
26. Never carry or hang the iron for storage by the power cord.
27. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or any sharp instruments for cleaning the unit. When the unit is cool to touch, the outside surface and soleplate may be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth and then dried thoroughly.
28. Avoid scratching the soleplate on zippers, buttons, studs and hooks etc.
29. Do not fill the water tank directly from the tap. Use the water beaker instead.
30. Do not fill the water tank past the ‘MAX’ level as this may cause the iron to leak during use.
31. Deposits or minerals in water supply will generate scales which may block the steam holes in the soleplate. Use of distilled water is therefore recommended.
32. Do not use chemically distilled water.
33. Empty the water tank after each use. Be careful when emptying the water tank as the water inside the appliance may be very hot.
34. Do not use fragrances, fabric softeners, starch, cleaning agents, vinegar or any other chemical liquids in the water tank as they may damage the appliance.
35. Immediately unplug the iron from mains power if malfunction occurs.
36. This appliance is equipped with a protective thermal fuse which will blow if the iron overheats. If this occurs, discontinue use and do not attempt to use the appliance before it has been serviced at an authorised service agent.

38. If the mains supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
39. After ironing, allow the appliance to cool down for approximately 30 minutes on its heel stand before handling or cleaning the appliance.
40. Allow the Iron to cool down and dry completely before moving it to storage.
ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
POWER SUPPLY CORD
1. Do not attempt to modify the power cord or plug in any way.
2. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
3. If the power supply cord is too short, do not use an extension cord. Have a qualified electrician or serviceman install an outlet near the appliance.
NOTE: Neither Westinghouse nor the retailer can accept any liability for damage to the product or personal injury resulting due to failure to observe the electrical connection procedures.
INSTALLATION GUIDE
1. Carefully unpack your iron.
2. Carefully remove packaging around the iron and straighten the power cord. Do not remove any warning labels.
3. Before using for the first time, remove any stickers or protective foil from the soleplate. Clean the Cera-Silk soleplate with a soft cloth. Avoid scratching the soleplate with any sharp or abrasive objects.
4. Fill the water tank as described in the Filling the iron with water instructions on page 5.
5. Connect the plug to mains supply and turn the temperature dial to ‘MAX’ setting. The temperature indicator light indicates that the iron is heating up. Have the iron stand up on its heel rest on a stable surface. Once the indicator light goes out, the set temperature has been reached.
6. Move the steam control switch to ‘STEAM’ position – steam starts to come out of the steam holes on the soleplate. You can now begin ironing. It is recommended to do the first ironing e.g., on an old towel as there may be dust remaining in the tank from the manufacturing process. Once the water tank runs empty and no more steam is produced, the installation is complete.
7. The iron has been treated for protection during manufacturing and transport, and as a result, the iron may emit vapours when switched on for the first time. This is normal and should cease after a short while.
DANGER Do not under any circumstances immerse the iron, power cord or power
plug in water or any other liquid.
