In an effort to consolidate our capacity enterprise product offerings to our
customers, Western Digital® announces the end-of-life of WD Gold™
branded enterprise-class 3.5-inch hard drives. Customers of WD Gold 3.5­inch hard drives are asked to transition to Ultrastar® hard drives. This

change is specific to capacity enterprise product offerings, and does not
affect any of Western Digital client hard drive or client SSD products.

For all WD Gold enterprise-class hard drives, the following dates are being set:

Last date to place orders: August 30, 2018
Final Production Date: December 28, 2018

The table below shows the specific WD Gold hard drive models and part
numbers, along with the respective replacement Ultrastar models and part
numbers. Please begin ordering the corresponding Ultrastar branded hard
drives to replace the outgoing WD Gold branded hard drives.

* Some models of Ultrastar—as indicated by an asterisk (*), are identical in
form, fit, and function to the respective WD Gold model. The only
differences are limited to the brand, label and ID string as reported by the
firmware. For these drives, any previously completed qualification of the
equivalent WD Gold models should not require a re-qualification.

** This model will not be available to order after March 31, 2019. Please
contact your Western Digital Account Representative for details.

All purchase orders for delivery of product in the final months of production
will be non-cancelable and non-returnable. This must be stated on the
customers' purchase orders. All purchase order cancellation is subject to a
100% cancellation fee.
