Westell’s UltraVoice UMA
Terminal Adapter (TA) with
Router delivers reliable
high-performance voice services in the home over fixed
broadband
connections.
With the UltaVoice UMA TA, mobile service providers can leverage
their mobile core network to deliver fixed-line service over broadband
connections to the home, and allow people to use their own existing
analog and cordless phones. Using UMA/GAN technology for GSM and
UMTS networks, it assures QoS for voice calls over any broadband network (DSL, Cable, FTTH). Dual-core processor with hardware acceleration
for routing delivers high-performance in a small lightweight form factor.
With the deployment of Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology, mobile services that are delivered over Radio Access Networks are now delivered
over Generic Access Networks (GAN); primarily IP broadband networks like DSL,
Cable, and FTTH.
With the Westell UltaVoice UMA TA, phone services based on the mobile core
network are made available to analog and digital cordless phones in the home.
Lightweight and small
footprint (1.3” x 7.0” x 4.9”)
DATA SHEET
The UltaVoice UMA TA connects multiple telephones in the home with the UMA
network over any broadband connection: DSL, Cable, FTTH.
The high-performance architecture includes a dual-core processor with hardware
packet processing engine that delivers line-rate routing alongside dual-line VoIP processing with carrier-grade voice quality.
The UltaVoice UMA TA provides fast setup with no user configuration required. The
user simply connects the phone and Ethernet cables, turns it on, and in less than 2
minutes has reliable convenient home phone service.
The UltaVoice UMA TA establishes secured and reliable connections over the broadband network to the UMA Network Controller.
An integrated router with a stateful packet inspection firewall, NAT, DHCP, DNS,
and website blocking provides the feature-rich data connections that home networking users demand.
A simple LED indicates a working phone connection, and also serves to indicate
new voicemail messages.
