If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. The cord should be arranged so that it will not hang over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled by children or tripped over.

Before using for the first time and following periods of prolonged storage, wash
the shaver bowl in warm, soapy water, rinse and dry. Do not put in dishwasher. NEVER IMMERSE THE SHAVER MOTOR IN WATER.
When assembling, disassembling or cleaning, always ensure that the appliance is not connected to the power supply.
1. Fill a standard ice cube tray or the supplied ice cups with water and place in the freezer until frozen. Ice cubes work well in the Ice Shaver but may produce a slightly coarser textured ice than the ice cup block.
2. Place the shaver bowl on top of the base, aligning the tabs with the slots and gently press down until the shaver bowl locks into place. The shaver bowl should not be removed after attachment.
3. Turn the blade adjustment knob on the side of the base – clockwise (right) for finer and counterclockwise (left) for coarser shaved ice. Note: Do not change the knob position while shaving ice.
4. When the ice cubes or ice cup blocks are frozen solid, remove from the tray or cup and place in the shaver bowl.
5. To use paper or silicone cone cups, insert the cup holder into the base opening, or place a separate bowl or ice cup on the base to collect the shaved ice. Note: Do not attach cup holder if using a bowl or ice cup.
6. Place the shaver motor on top of the ice, plug into an electrical outlet, and press and hold the power button. The motor will start and the ice will begin shaving. To stop shaving, remove hand from power button.
7. Add your favorite Back To Basics® Premium Syrup, soft drink, or fresh fruit to the shaved ice and enjoy.
8. Unplug from the power supply immediately after use.

9. After shaving, there will always be a small amount of ice remaining in the machine. The ice should be discarded and the Ice Shaver dried with a soft cloth.
10. If using flavored ice cubes or ice cup molds, Clean the shaver bowl with a damp, soapy dishcloth, rinse with a damp cloth and dry carefully.
C
OOL & EASY TREATS
SUPER SNOW CONES – Shave ice directly into Snow Cone Cups. Mound tops
with additional “Snow” if desired. Dispense your favorite Back To Basics® Flavored Syrup directly on top of the shaved ice. Combine different syrups to create your own unique flavors. Because the shaved ice is so snowy fine, it absorbs the flavored syrup instead of it running to the bottom. TIP: Use flavored ice cubes for unique snow cone tastes. Freeze fruit juice, soda, flavored yogurt, or flavored milk into cubes. Shave into cups. If desired, use Back To Basics® Syrups for added flavor.
SLUSHES – Place shaved ice into serving cups or glasses. Add just enough Back To Basics® Flavored Syrup to totally absorb the shaved ice. Try one of the following variations for a delicious, cool and refreshing treat. Garnish with sliced or diced fruit.
Soda – Use your favorite variety such as colas, root beer, and fruit flavors. Add a twist of lemon or lime for an added “burst” of flavor.
Fruit Juices – Natural flavorings that are both tasty and good for you. Try apple, grape, orange, grapefruit, and cranberry or any combination for a special treat.
Lemonade and Punch-Flavored Drinks – Cool and refreshing flavors are great for any occasion.
Rainbow Slush – A colorful and fun treat. Place a layer of shaved ice in the bottom of a tall, parfait style glass; add flavoring. Add a middle layer of ice; add a different flavoring. Add a top layer of ice and another flavoring. Garnish with fruit or paper umbrellas.
FRUIT WONDERS – Mix shaved ice with fruit juice and either canned or fresh fruits. Try orange and pineapple juice with bananas. A great way to start the day or as an afternoon pick-me-up!
OTHER SHAVED ICE USES
Shaved ice is a great base when used in other blended drinks and smoothies. Combine with fruit, yogurt, or juices for great tasting and healthy treats.
Fresh shaved ice makes a great ice bed for seafood appetizers, such as shrimp cocktail.
