IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

To prevent personal injury or property damage, read and follow all instructions
and warnings.

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be
followed including the following:

• Read all instructions, including these important safeguards and the care and use
instructions in this manual.

• To protect against electrical shock, do not put the cord, plug or the motor
assembly in water or other liquid.

• Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by or near children.

• Unplug the appliance from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off

parts and before cleaning.

• Avoid contact with moving parts.

• Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord or plug, after the appliance

malfunctions or if the appliance is dropped or damaged in any manner. If you
experience any problems with your appliance, unplug it immediately from the
electrical outlet. For service information see warranty page.

• The use of accessory attachments, not recommended or sold by Focus Electrics
may cause fire, electric shock or injury.

• Do not use outdoors.

• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.

• Do not let the cord come into contact with hot surfaces, including a stove.

• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electrical burner or in a heated oven.

• Do not use this appliance for other than its intended use.

• Do not attempt to attach or remove the container from the motor base while the

motor is running.

• Keep hands and utensils away from moving blades or discs while processing
food to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the food
processor. A scraper may be used but must be used only when the food
processor is not running.

• Blades are sharp; handle carefully.

• Never feed food by hand. When using the food processor, always use the food

pusher to guide food through the feed tube. Never use your fingers or other
utensils.

• Always operate the appliance with the lid in place.

• Be certain cover is securely locked in place before operating the appliance.

• Be sure to turn switch to “OFF” position after each use.

• To disconnect, grip plug and pull from wall outlet. Never pull on cord to

disconnect.

• Never leave the house while the appliance is on.

• A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming

entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

• Longer, detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and
may be used if care is exercised in their use. While use of an extension cord is
not recommended, if you must use one, the marked electrical rating of the
detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as
the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the
extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. The cord should be
arranged so that it will not hang over the counter top or tabletop where it can be
pulled by children or tripped over.

• After running the motor continuously for three minutes, wait at least five minutes
before running the motor again.

• This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To
reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet
only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it
still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug
in any way.

• To reduce the risk of injury, never place cutter-assembly blades on base without
blending jar properly attached.

ASSEMBLING YOUR SOHO

To use your Soho® Food Processor, begin by assembling the unit.

WARNING: Unplug appliance from electrical outlet before assembling,
removing parts or cleaning. Never place motor or cord in water or other
liquids.

Note: The food container must be locked onto the motor base and the lid must be

locked onto the food container for unit to operate.

1. Prior to first use, wash all parts except motor base in warm, soapy water; rinse

and dry. Do not wash any parts in dishwasher.

2. Place the food container on the motor base. Line up the arrows on the food

container and motor base. Turn clockwise to lock in place. The food container
must be locked in place for unit to operate.

3. Select blade (chopping, shredding or slicing) and slide over the shaft in the food

container. Follow the directions on page #5 for chopping or page #6 for slicing/
shredding.

4. Put the lid on the food container, lining up the arrows. Turn the lid clockwise until

the lid locks in place. The food processor will not start until the food container
and lid are locked into position.

5. Always use the food pusher to guide food through the feed tube. Never use your

fingers or other utensils.

6. Plug your Soho® Food Processor into an electrical outlet. Push the “ON” button

to start chopping or pureeing or the “PULSE” button for slicing/shredding. A
BLUE light will be on when the unit is operating. It is recommended that one
hand be placed on the food processor lid while in use to provide unit stability.

7. If the machine doesn’t start, make sure it is plugged in and the container and lid

are properly locked in place. If the blades will not spin, unplug the unit and
reassemble the food processor following all of the assembly steps above.
Always unplug the unit before placing hands in the container.

8. To turn the motor off, press the “OFF” button.

9. For Pulse-Chopping, press the “PULSE” button the number of times necessary

for the ingredients to reach the desired consistency. The motor will run as long
as you press the “PULSE” button. The motor stops when you release the
“PULSE” button. For best results, allow enough time between pulses for the
food to fall back to the bottom of the food processor container.

USING YOUR SOHO

Chopping, Puréeing and Mixing

1. Assemble the food processor following the steps on page # 4.

2. Place the chopping blade over the shaft in the food container. The chopping

blade should slide easily to the bottom of the container. The lower blade will
almost touch the bottom.

3. Cut food into approximately 3⁄4” pieces. You will g et a more even chop if you

start with pieces that are all the same size.

4. Place food into the food processor container. You can process up to 5 cups of

solid foods or 3 cups of liquids in the container at one time. Chop food in
batches if you want to process more than 5 cups of solid foods at a time.

5. Place the lid on the food container and lock in place. Insert the food pusher. It is

recommended that one hand be placed on the food processor lid while in use to
provide unit stability. Press and release the “PULSE” button two to three times,
allowing the food pieces to drop to the bottom of the container between pulses.

6. Watch the food closely. With a pulse/chopping technique you can get an even

chop without over-processing the food. Check texture of the food by looking
through container.

7. For a coarse chop, pulse only a few times.

8. If you want a finer chop or puree, press the “ON” button and let the appliance

run continuously until the food is chopped as fine as you want it. Check
frequently through the clear lid or container to avoid chopping too fine. Use a
plastic spatula to scrape down any pieces that stick to the inside of the food
container. (Make sure that the unit is unplugged before placing any utensils
inside the food container.)

9. You may add liquid or small pieces of food to the appliance while the unit is

running by dropping the food through the open feed tube located on the food
processor lid.

Note: The following conditions will affect your results.

• Size of pieces you process– all should be about the same size.

• Amount of food you process – don’t add too much.

• Type of processing you choose – continuous or pulse/chopping.

Slicing or Shredding

1. Assemble the food processor following the steps on page # 4.

2. Attach the slicing or shredding blade to the disc blade holder by pressing the

blade firmly into place. Use caution when handling sharp blades.

3. Place the disc blade holder over the center shaft in the food container using the

two holes on the disc as finger-holds. Be sure the blade holder is firmly in place
and positioned all the way down on the shaft.

4. Place the lid on the food container and lock it in place. Cut food pieces in equal

lengths, slightly shorter than the food chamber. Use the food pusher as a cutting
guide for length or width. Put cut food to be sliced or shredded in the open food
chamber on the lid. Pack the food chamber full so food stands upright for slicing.
Insert the food pusher on top of the food pieces.

5. Press the “PULSE” button while firmly pressing down on the food pusher. A djust

your pressure on the food pusher depending on the type of food used. Soft
foods require less pressure, hard foods require more pressure. Watch the food
closely and release the “PULSE” button when the food chamber is empty. Refill
food chamber and repeat slicing/shredding process.

Note: The following conditions will affect your results.

• Slicing blade - the width of food pieces you put in the food chamber dictates the

width of finished slices.

• Shredding blade - soft to medium firm cheeses can be sliced or shredded/grated

using the food chamber. Harder cheeses must be chopped using the chopping
blade.

Removing Processed Food

1. Before removing the processed food, press the “OFF” button and wait for the

blade to stop spinning. Unplug the unit and then remove the lid by turning it
counterclockwise to unlock. Never try to remove the lid and the container
together as one unit; this can damage the food processor.

2. Be careful not to let the chopping blade or slicing/shredding blade disc fall out of

the container as you empty it. To prevent the chopping blade from falling out,
carefully remove the chopping blade by lifting up on the plastic hub. To remove
the slicing/shredding blade disc, grip the disc using the two finger-holds on top
of the disc and lift straight up. Be sure to remove the blade or disc before
attempting to empty out the processed food.

3. To lift the container off the motor base, turn the handle of the container

counterclockwise to unlock and lift the container straight up.

Note: Occasionally, a piece of food may become wedged between the blade and the
container. If this happens, unplug the unit, remove the lid, lift the blade out carefully
and remove the wedged piece. Empty the container, reinsert the blade, replace the
ingredients and lock the lid into place to continue processing.

Hints for Preparing Foods for Chopping or Mixing

Fruits and vegetables Peel and core if necessary. Remove

large, hard pits and seeds. Cut into 3⁄4-
inch pieces and process up to 1 cup at a
time.

Meat, poultry and fish Meat should be cold but not frozen. First,

cut into 3⁄4-inch pieces. Put up to 1⁄2
pound of meat in container. Pulse or run
motor continuously until desired
consistency is reached. Check texture
every 2 or 3 seconds to avoid over­processing.

Bread, crackers or cookies Break into 1-inch pieces and process

continuously until desired texture is
reached.

Hard cheese If cheese is too hard to cut with a knife,

don’t try to chop it in the food processor
as it may damage the blade. (Do not
attempt to chop parmesan cheese in the
food processor.) Cut cheese into 1⁄2-inch
cubes. Pulse motor until the desired
consistency is reached. You may chop
cheese as coarse or as fine as you want.
Simply run machine longer for finer
chop. Do not attempt to process more
than 3 ounces of cheese at one time.

Whipping cream Cream must be at refrigerator

temperature. Whip up to 1 cup at a time.

CLEANING YOUR SOHO

Care and Cleaning

Before using your Soho
sure to thoroughly wash the food processor container, blades, blade disc holder, lid,
and food pusher. Do not wash any parts in the dishwasher. Never submerge the
motor base in water or other liquid. Wipe off the motor base with a damp cloth and
dry. Reassemble the food processor and store with lid ajar. Store the blades in a
safe manner to prevent accidental injury.

PRODUCT WARRANTY

Appliance 1 Year Limited Warranty

Focus Electrics, LLC (“Focus Electrics”) warrants this appliance from failures in the material
and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of original purchase with proof of purchase,
provided the appliance is operated and maintained in conformity with the provided Instruction
Manual. Any failed part of the appliance will be repaired or replaced without charge at Focus
Electrics discretion. This warranty applies to indoor household use only.

This warranty does not cover any damage, including discoloration, to any non-stick surface of
the appliance. This warranty is null and void, as determined solely by Focus Electrics if the
appliance is damaged through accident, misuse, abuse, negligence, scratching, or if the
appliance is altered in any way.

THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES
OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, PERFORMANCE, OR
OTHERWISE, WHICH ARE HEREBY EXCLUDED. IN NO EVENT SHALL FOCUS
ELECTRICS, LLC BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, WHETHER DIRECT, INDIRECT,
INCIDENTAL, FORSEEABLE, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR SPECIAL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN
CONNECTION WITH ITS APPLIANCE.

original purchase date will be required for all warranty claims. Hand-written receipts are not
accepted. Focus Electrics, LLC is not responsible for returns lost in transit.
