Read all instructions, including these important safeguards and the care and use instructions in this manual.

The use of accessory attachments not recommended by West Bend®
Housewares may cause injuries.
Keep hands and utensils away from the cutting blade while chopping food to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to food chopper. A scraper may be used but only when the food chopper is not running.
Blade is sharp. Handle carefully.
To reduce the risk of injury, never place the cutting blade on base without first
putting bowl properly in place.
Always be sure cover is securely locked in place before operating applia nce.
Do not attempt to defeat the cover interlock mechanism.
Always avoid contacting moving parts.
Do not operate when the appliance is not working properly or when it has been
damaged in any manner. For service information see warranty page.
Do not attempt to repair this appliance yourself.
For household use only.
To prevent burns or other personal injuries to children, read and follow all instructions and warnings.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE AROUND CHILDREN
Always supervise children.
Do not allow children to operate or be near the appliance, as the mechanical
operation can cause a hazard.
Do not allow cord to hang over any edge where a child can reach it. Arrange cord to avoid pulling, tripping or entanglement.
2
To prevent electrical shock, personal injury or property damage, read and follow all instructions and warnings.
ELECTRICITY PRECAUTIONS
To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or other electric parts in water or other liquids.
Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug.
Do not use electric parts outdoors, or place them on or near a gas or electric
burner, in a heated oven, refrigerator or freezer.
Always unplug the appliance from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow unit to cool completely before putting or taking off parts and before cleaning.
This appliance has a short cord as a safety precaution to avoid pulling, tripping or entanglement. Position the cord so that it does not hang over the edge of the counter, table or other area.
While use of an extension cord is not recommended, if you must use one, make sure the cord has the same or higher wattage as the food chopper (wattage is stamped on the underside of the base). To avoid pulling, tripping or entanglement, position the extension cord so that it does not hang over the edge of the counter, table or other area.
Use an electrical outlet that accommodates the polarized plug on the food chopper. On a polarized plug, one blade of the plug is wider than the other. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet or extension cord, reverse the plug. If the plug still does not fit fully, contact a qualified electrician. Do not alter the plug.
Do not use an outlet or extension cord if the plug fits loosely or if the outlet or extension cord feels hot.
Keep the cord away from hot parts of the appliance and hot surfaces during operation.
Do not attempt to use a voltage converter or other device to adapt your food chopper to a different outlet or voltage, as damage will occur.

will not operate unless cover tab is correctly located in slot. Do not attempt to operate chopper without bowl and cover correctly in place.
6. Plug cord into a 120 volt AC electrical outlet ONLY. Your chopper offers two
speeds, LO and HI. You may wish to start chopping at the LO speed, then increase to HI using either a pulse or continuous on operation.
To Pulse, simply depress the LO or HI button for a second or two, and then release. Repeat pulsing action until food appears to be of desired size. Release button to turn chopper off.
To run continuously, hold the LO or HI button down until food appears to be of desired size. Release button to turn chopper off. Note: When chopping harder foods such as carrots, you may need to secure chopper by placing hand on top of cover while using.

7. When finished chopping, unplug cord from electrical outlet. Allow blade to stop
completely before removing cover. Turn cover counterclockwise to remove. If necessary, scrape food off chopping blade with scraper or spatula before lifting out of bowl. Turn bowl counterclockwise to remove from base.
CLEANING YOUR FOOD CHOPPER
1. Always unplug cord from electrical outlet before removing parts for cleaning.
2. All parts, with the exception of base, may be washed in hot soapy water, rinse
and dry. Do not use any abrasive scouring pads or cleanser on parts as scratching will occur. CAUTION: To prevent personal injury, handle chopping blade carefully as it is sharp. Do not leave cutting blade in dishwater to soak. Wash, rinse and dry immediately after use.
Note: All parts with exception of the chopper base may be cleaned in an automatic dishwasher, TOP RACK ONLY. Wipe base with a damp cloth and dry.
Note: Some food, such as carrots, will stain the plastic parts. To remove these stains, scour with a non-abrasive cleanser.
Storing the Food Chopper: Store chopping blade inside covered chopping bowl on base. Push cord into cord storage area on back of base.
Note: The chopping blade is made of stainless steel to maintain its sharp cutting edge. Do not attempt to sharpen the cutting edge of blade, as damage will occur.

Chop/Mince
Crumb/Grate
Suggested Foods General Instructions
Fruits, vegetables, cooked meat, hard cooked eggs, garlic, parsley and other herbs, pickles, olives
Bread, cookies, crackers, Parmesan or Romano cheese
Place up to 3 cups of food into chopping bowl, cut into 1-inch or smaller pieces. Chop until desired size.
For bread, cookies and crackers, break into 1-
inch pieces. Chop up to 3 cups until desired size.
For Parmesan or Romano cheese, cut into
½-inch pieces and bring to room temperature before grating up to 3 cups. Pulse to break up pieces, and then run continuously at HI speed until fine texture is obtained about 2 to 3 minutes. Do not attempt to grate any other type of cheese in chopper, as poor results will be obtained.
FOOD CHOPPING TIPS
Always cut, tear or break food into 1-inch or smaller pieces to obtain uniform
chopping results.
Never overload chopper with food. Food should be placed loosely in chopper
and never packed down.
If chopping more than 1 food consecutively, begin with dry food if possible to
eliminate cleaning of the bowl and blade between uses.
Do not chop hard foods that cannot be easily cut with a normal kitchen knife or
foods that contain pits, stones, bones or hard shells, as damage to the chopper will occur. Foods not recommended for chopping include dried fruits, ice, hard sausage, coffee beans, whole spices, cheese other than Parmesan and Romano, whole wheat, corn or rye kernels for making flour.
Liquid ingredients should not be mixed in chopper, as leakage will occur.
The sides of chopping bowl may become cloudy in appearance after frequent
use, which is normal.
If chopper does not turn on when LO or HI button is depressed, the cover is not
completely engaged in slot. Turn cover clockwise to fully engage tab in slot for operation.
