IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS - When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
Read all instructions before using.
Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. To protect against fire, electric shock and
personal injury, do not immerse electric kettle, power base, its cord or plug in water or other liquid.
Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow appliance to cool before
putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.
Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug of if the appliance malfunctions, or
has been damaged in any manner. See warranty information section.
The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result
in fire, electric shock or personal injury.
Do not use outdoors.
Do not let cord hang over edge of table, countertop, or surface area or touch hot surfaces.
Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot water.
Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
Be sure electric kettle is properly positioned onto power base before tu rning on.
Remove electric kettle from power base before filling or pouring.
Use electric kettle only with power base supplied.
Do not remove electric kettle from its power base until it is switched off, either manually or
automatically.
Always make sure switch is OFF before plugging cord into wall outlet. To disconnect, be sure
switch is at OFF, then remove plug from wall outlet.

Electric Cord Statement - CAUTION: Your electric kettle has a short cord as a safety
precaution to prevent personal injury or property damage resulting from pulling, tripping or becoming entangled with the cord. Do not allow children to be near or use the electric kettle without close adult supervision. If you must use a longer cord set or an extension cord when using this electric kettle, the cord must be arranged so it will not drape or hang over the edge of a countertop, tabletop or surface area where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over. To prevent electric shock, personal injury or fire, the electrical rating of the extension cord you use must be the same or more than the wattage of the electric kettle (wattage is stamped on underside of base).
To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the same circuit.
Important Safety Instructions - This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider that the
other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

CLEAN BEFORE USING
1. Open cover by holding cover release buttons in and lifting up. Remove filter screen from spout. Wash filter screen in hot soapy water with dishcloth, rinse and dry.
2. Fill kettle with hot tap water to the 4 cup level. Add a small amount of dishwashing detergent and wash inside of kettle with a dishcloth or sponge. Empty kettle, rinse thoroughly and dry. Replace filter screen by aligning tab(s) on filter with slot(s) in spout area. See Diagram 2. Push filter down to secure.
CAUTION: To prevent personal injury or electric shock, do not immerse electric kettle, power base, its cord or plug in water or other liquid.
3. Wipe exterior surface of kettle and power base with damp cloth and dry. Your electric kettle is now ready to use.
SPECIAL NOTE: The electric kettle is designed for heating water only. Do not add instant soups, powdered drink mixes, other liquids or foods to kettle for heating, as damage to kettle will occur.
TO USE
1. Open cover and fill kettle with cold water to desired cup level, using the 8-ounce cup markings on kettle as a guide. Water level must be between the MIN and MAX level markings. Do not fill beyond MAX level to avoid water boiling out of spout. Close cover until secured.
2. Place power base on a dry, level surface. With switch in OFF position, place kettle onto power base. Plug cord into a 120 volt AC electrical outlet only. Push switch to ON position. Signal light will glow when kettle is turned on.

3. When water reaches a boil, about 3 minutes at MIN level and eight minutes at MAX level, kettle will automatically turn off and signal light will go out. If you wish to shut kettle o ff before water reaches a boil, push switch to OFF position. Unplug cord from electrical outlet. Remove kettle from power base and pour water into heat-resistant serving container being careful of escaping steam.
4. If you wish to reheat water remaining in kettle at a later time, simply set kettle onto power base, plug cord into electrical outlet and push switch to ON position. Always make sure water level is between MIN and MAX levels. After water reaches a boil, the kettle will automatically turn off and signal light will go out. Unplug cord from outlet after use.
CORD STORAGE - The underside of the power base features cord storage. Wrap any excess cord
in area provided, allowing cord to exit through exit channel. Make sure power base rests flat on counter.
TO CLEAN - Follow same cleaning instructions as given in “Clean Before Using” section. Always make sure kettle has cooled completely and power base is unplugged from electrical outlet before cleaning.

SPECIAL CLEANING TO REMOVE MINERAL DEPOSITS -
deposits from water will build up on the inside of the kettle. To prev ent severe build up of mineral deposits, which can cause damage to kettle, always empty and clean after each use.
Over time, mineral
1. To remove mineral deposits, fill kettle to MIN level with white distilled vinegar and add co ld water to the 4-cup level. Close cover until secured and set kettle on p ower base. Plug cord into electrical outlet and push switch to ON position. After mixture reaches a boil, kettle will automatically turn off. Unplug cord from electrical outlet and let kettle stand 30 minutes to dissolve the deposits.
2. Empty kettle and allow to cool before cleaning, following cleanin g instructions as given in “Clean Before Using” section.

Your West Bend® Warranty covers failures in the materials and workmanship of this appliance for (1) year from the date of original purchase. Any part proved to have failed upon examination of the complete appliance by an authorized service depot of the manufacturer will be repaired or replaced with a product of equal value which may or may not be identical to the unit being replaced.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from province to province. This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, accidents or alterations to the appliance.
