THANK YOU
Thank you for purchasing the Weems & Plath Field Watch. For 80 years our company has been committed to making instruments of the highest quality. From development and
manufacture on through to the nished product, we take
meticulous care at every step of the process. Our reputation rests on our steadfast adherence to this standard and your satisfaction is a top priority for us.
WATCH HISTORY
Developed during the late 1920s by U.S. Naval ofcer Philip Van Horn Weems and co-patented with Longines under the name of Weems Second Setting Watch, this watch has earned a lasting place in history as one of early aviation’s most reputed wrist instruments, the pride and
prize of countless pilots and navigators. Based on its in-
ventor’s “Weems System of Navigation” instrument series, Weems’ watch design featured both a rotating internal dial
and a turning bezel designed for to-the-second synchroni-
zation with a radio-borne time signal.
Today, Weems & Plath is re-launching this fabled time piece as the Weems Field Watch, highlighted by a special limited production featuring a Swiss quartz movement and
rotating bezel in its generous-size stainless steel case.
The Weems Field Watch recalls a proud chapter in Weems
& Plath corporate history, not least the company’s pivotal role as the source of rst-class ight instruments avail-
able throughout the 1930’s and beyond to a long series of distinguished aviation pioneers including almost every aviator during World War II.
This new limited production men’s Swiss-made quartz watch has a rotating bezel which can be set as a visual re-
minder to monitor elapsed time. The uni-directional bezel
rotates to align the bezel guidemark with the minute hand. The dial and hands are tted with tritium micro gas lighting (GTLS), a technology formerly only found in professional dive watches. Dials are available in white or black. Each watch is accompanied with two watch bands. One is a luxurious, black, water resistant Italian calf skin band, the
other is a stylish nylon band.
Your watch uses a Push-Pull crown. The crown seals your
-
watch against moisture and protects the delicate movement stem from shock. It is very important that the crown is properly sealed against the case to ensure years of wa-
ter resistant time keeping performance. (Please refer to
crown illustration for positions to set the time and date.)
Each watch is engraved with a separate serial number.
WATER RESISTANCE - Each watch is carefully manufac- tured to the highest standards per Weems & Plath speci-
cations for water resistant performance and is tested at
the factory before being shipped to Weems & Plath. There
are water resistant seals located in the crown and case back. The watch is designed for use while swimming or for most other surface water sports. It is waterproof to a depth
of 165 feet. Your watch will remain water resistant as long as the crown is returned to Position 1 and seated tightly against the case. Please rinse the watch in fresh
water after immersion in salt water.
BATTERY LIFE - Your watch is powered by a battery which will last approximately 2 years.
SETTING THE TIME & DATE
1. Pull crown to Position 3. Advance the hands to
