Important Information about LPGas &
Gas Connections
What Is LP Gas?
Liquefied petroleum gas, also called LP, LP gas, liquid
propane, or simply propane or butane, is the flammable,
petroleum-based product used to fuel your grill. It is a gas
at moderate temperatures and pressure when it is not
contained. But at moderate pressure inside a container, such
as a tank, LP is a liquid. As pressure is released from the tank,
the liquid readily vaporizes and becomes gas.
Safe Handling Tips For LP Tanks
• A dented or rusty liquid propane tank may be hazardous and
should be checked by your liquid propane supplier. Donot
use a liquid propane tank with a damaged valve.
• Although your liquid propane tank may appear to be empty,
gas may still be present, and the tank should be transported
and stored accordingly.
• The LP tank must be installed, transported, and stored in an
upright, secure position. LP tanks should not be dropped or
handled roughly.
• Never store or transport the LP tank where temperatures
can reach 125° F (51.7° C) (the tank will become too hot to
hold by hand).
• Place dust cap on cylinder valve outlet whenever the
cylinder is not in use. Only install the type of dust cap on
the cylinder valve outlet that is provided with the cylinder
valve. Other types of caps or plugs may result in leakage of
propane.
LP Tank Requirements
• The tank must be approximately 18¼inches (46.35 cm) high
and 12¼ inches (31.1 cm) in diameter with a marked 20
pound (9.07 kg) LPG capacity or 47.6 pound (21.6 kg) water
capacity as stated by the manufacturer. Other tanks may
be acceptable provided they are compatible with the grill
retention means (tank scale).
• The tank used must be constructed and marked in
accordance with the Specifications for LP gas Cylinders
of the U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.); or the
Canadian Standard for Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for
Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Commission, CAN/
CSA-B339, as applicable.
• Tanks must be provided with a listed OPD (Overfilling
Prevention Device) and a Type 1 (CGA 791) tank connection.
The tank connection must be compatible with the grill
connection.
• The tank must include a collar to protect the tank valve.
• Tanks must have a D.O.T. certification (A), and a testing date
(B) that is within five years of current use.
LP Tank Installation
The tank is hung onto the tank bracket which is lo cated on
the right side of grill. The shap e of the collar assembly (the
metal pr otective ring around the tank valve) deter mines one
of two dir ections in which the t ank will cor rectly hang on the
tank bracket (A).
Inspect the Tank
1) Confirm that t he tank valve is fully closed. Clos e by
turning valve clockwise.
2) Confirm that t he tank valve is the prop er mating t ype for
the regulator (B).
3) In spect th e tank valve, including the internal rubber seal
for damag e or debris (C). If damaged, return t ank to local
re ta il er.
Install The Tank
1) Check that all burner control knobs are in the
o posi tion. Che ck by pushing in and turning knobs
clockwise.
2) T he tank is hung by the coll ar assemb ly (the metal
protec tive ring around the tank valve) onto the tank
bracket (D).
3) Screw the re gulator co upling onto the tank valve, turnin g
clockwise. Hand-tighten only. Using a wrench could
damage th e regulator couplin g and could c ause a leak .

How Much Fuel is in the Tank?
This feature is only availab le on select m odels.
The tank scale indicates the amount of fue l in a standar d
20 pound (9.07 kg) tank once the t ank is hung from the
scale. The fuel le vel is checked by viewing the indic ator
line loc ated on the s cale inside of the cabinet. Some
model s include an indicator o n the front of the grill . The
indicator points to a full tank (A), and gradually m oves
to indica te when the tank is empt y (B) and needs to be
remove d to replace or refill.
Removal of the LP Tank
1) Make sure the grill is o and co ol.
2) Confirm that t he tank valve is fully closed. Clos e by
turning valve clockwise.
3) Un screw regulator coupling by turning
counterclockwise by hand.
4) On the tank scale, loosen hand nut and rotate tank lock
up.
5) Lift tank o tank hook .

m WARNING: It may be hazardous to attempt to fit
other types of gas containers.
m IMPORTANT: We recommend that you replace the
gas hose assembly on your gas grill every five
years. Some countries may have requirements
that the gas hose be replaced within less than five
years, in which case that country’s requirement
would take precedence.
For replacement hose, regulator, and valve
assemblies, contact the Customer Service
Representative in your area using the contact
information on our web site.

m DANGER: Do not store a spare LP tank under or
near this grill. Never fill the tank beyond 80% full.
Failure to follow these statements exactly may
result in a fire causing death or serious injury.

LeakChecking
What is a Leak Check?
Once the LP tank is properly installed, it is necessary
to perform a leak check. A leak check is a reliable way
to verif y that gas is not escaping after you connect the
tank. T he fuel sy stem in your grill features factory-made
connections that have been thoroughly checked for gas
leaks an d the burners have been flame-tested.
WEBER recommen ds performing a thorough leak check
after assembly, as well as annually. The following fittings
should be tested:
• Where the regulator connects to the tank.
• Where the gas hose connects to the bulkhead.
• Where the bulkhead connects to the corrugated gas line.
Checking for Gas Leaks
1) Wet fittings (A) with a soap and water solution, using
a spray bottle, br ush, or ra g. You can make your own
soap and w ater solution by mixing 20% liquid s oap with
80% water ; or, you can purchase leak ch eck solut ion in
the plumb ing sect ion of any hardware store.
2) Slowly open ga s supply by turning tank v alve
counterclockwise while checking for bubbles.
3) If bubbles ap pear ther e is a leak:
a) I f the leak is at the cylinder (B), turn o the gas.
DONOT OPERATE THE GRILL. Dis connec t the tank
and return the tank to your local r etailer.
b) If the leak is at the regulator (C), turn o t he gas
(D). NEVER ATTEMP T TO TIGHTEN THE REG ULATOR
WITH TANK VALVE OPEN. DO NOT OPERATE THE
GRILL . Contact the Customer Service Representati ve
in your are a using the contact information on our
website.
c) If the leak is at any fitt ings indic ated in illustration
(D), re-tighten fitting with a wr ench and re check for
leaks with soap and w ater solution. If lea k persists,
turn o th e gas. DO NOT OPERATE THE GRILL.
d) If the leak is at any fittings indicated in illustr ation
(E), turn o the gas. DO NO T OPERATE T HE GRILL.
4) If bubbles do not appear, leak checking is complete:
a) Turn the gas supply o at the tank an d rinse
connections with water.
NOTE: Since so me leak test solutions, including soap and
water, may be slightly corrosive, all connections should be
rinsed with water after che cking for leaks.
Additional Leak Check Precautions
The following fit tings should be tested for gas lea ks each
time a tank is refilled and reinstalled:
• Where the regulator connects to the tank (B) and at the
regulator (C).

PRODUCT CARE
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning and Maintaining the Griddle
The griddle surface should be cleane d after ea ch use to
preserve it and continue to ensure a non-stick co oking
surface. Follow these steps for a proper cleanin g:
1. After the grill is o and cooled for 5 minutes, use a
scraper or spatula to scrape excess grease, oil, and food
debris into the hole in the griddle.
NOTE: For stubborn, stuck on food debris, a small amount
of room temperature water can be used during the scraping
process. DO NOT USE LARGE AMOUNTS COLD WATER WHILE
CLEANING THE GRIDDLE.
2. Using several paper towels, wipe and dry the griddle's
surface, directing any excess grease, oil, and food debris
into the hole in the griddle.
3. Apply small amounts of a neutral cooking oil such as
vegetable or canola across the griddle's surface.
4. Using paper towels, rub the oil evenly around the entire
cooking surface. Use more paper towels if needed to wipe
up any excess pools of oil.
Cleaning the Burners
Two areas on the burners t hat are key to optimum
perf ormance are the por ts (small openings r unning along
the leng th of the burners) and th e spider/ins ect screens on
the front ends of the burners. Keeping th ese areas clean is
essential for safe operati on.
Cleaning the Burner Ports
1) Once the grill has been turned o an d cooled, and the LP
tank has been disconnected, using BBQ mitts or gloves
remove the griddle and set asid e.
2) Us e a clean stainless steel bristle grill br ush to clean the
outside of the burners by brushing across the burner
ports.
Cleaning the Spider Screens
To access the spider/insect scre ens, it is necessary to
remove the control panel (A). Follow these steps for
removing the control panel:
1) Remove the slide out grease tray and set aside.
2) Remove the control knob s and set aside.
3) Remove the re d control panel trim by sliding it to the left
and pulling it away fr om the bot tom of the control pane l.
4) Remove the 2 screws that hold the control pan el to the
grill fr ame and set aside.
5) Remove the control panel by pulling it up o of the
hanging t abs and set it aside.
6) Clean the spider/insect screens o n the ends of the
burner tubes using a soft bristle brush (B).
Re-install all components.
7)
NOTE: Ensure the digital the rmometer wires are
connec ted before reassembly. (Only ava ilable on s elect
models).
Cleaning the Grill Frame
The out side of your grill may include stainless ste el,
porcelain-enameled, a nd plastic surfaces. WEBER
recommends the following methods based on the
surfacetype:
Cleaning Stainless Steel Surfaces
Clean st ainless steel using a n on-toxic, non-ab rasive
stainless steel cleaner or p olish designed for us e on outdoor
products and grills. Use a microfibe r cloth to clea n in the
direction of the gr ain of the stainless steel. Donot use paper
towels.
NOTE: Do not risk s cratchin g your stai nless ste el with
abrasive pastes. Pastes do not clean or p olish. They
will change the colo r of the metal by removing the top
chromium oxide film coating.
Cleaning Painted, Porcelain-Enameled Surfaces
and PlasticComponents
Clean painted, por celain- enameled and plas tic compo nents
with war m soapy water, and paper towels or cloth. After
wiping down the sur faces, rinse and dry thoro ughly.
Cleaning the Outside of Grills that are in Unique
Environments
If your grill is subject to a particularly harsh environment,
you will want to clean the outside more often. Acid rain,
pool chemicals , and salt water can caus e surface rustin g
to appear. Wipe down the outside of your grill with warm
soapy water. Follow up with a rinse and thorough drying.
Additionally, you may want to apply a stainless s teel cleaner
weekly to p revent sur face rust.
Check for Grease
Your griddle was built with a grease management system that
collects grease and food debris into a disposable container.
The grease and food debris is channeled into a disposable
drip pan that lines the grease tray. This system should be
cleaned before you cook to preventgrease fires.
1. Confirm that the grill is o and completely cooled.
2.
Remove any excess grease or food debris with a scraper
and wipe the griddle clean with a paper towel. Scrape the
grease and food debris down through the openning on the
flat top cooking surface into the disposable drip pan below.
3. Remove the grease tray. Check for excessive amounts of
grease and food debris in the disposable drip pan that
lines the grease tray. Discard the disposable drip pan when
necessary and replace it with a new one.
4. Reinstall all components.
NOTE: In the event of s evere weather, water may enter the
grease tray and disposable drip pan. Check the disposable
drip pan and grease t ray for water and empt y when
necessary.
Clean the Cooking Surface
After preheating, leftover food and grease from previous use
will be easier to remove with a scraper if needed.
1. Scrape the cooking surface with a scraper after preheat-
ing. Direct any leftover grease or food into the hole in the
griddle's cooking surface.

m WARNING: Turn your grill o and wait for it to cool
before thoroughly cleaning.
m WARNING: When cleaning the burners, never use
a brush that has already been used to clean the
cooking grates. Never put sharp objects into the
burner port holes.
m CAUTION: Do not use any of the following to clean
your grill: abrasive stainless steel polishes or
paints, cleaners that contain acid, mineral spirits or
xylene, oven cleaner, abrasive cleansers (kitchen
cleansers), or abrasive cleaning pads.
Proper Burner Flame Pattern
The bur ner in your gr ill is factory set f or the correct
air and gas mixture. When the burner is per forming
corre ctly, you will see a specific flame pattern.
The tips may occasionally flicker yellow (A), with a
descending light blue (B) to dark blue flame (C).
m WARNING: Blocked and dirty ports can restrict full
gas flow, resulting in a fire (D) in and around the gas
valves, causing serious damage to your grill.

Spider Screens
The combustion air openings of the burners(E) are
fitted with stainless ste el screens to prevent spiders
and other insect s from spinning webs and building
nests inside the b urners. Additionally, dust and
debris can accumulate on the ou tside of the spider/
insect screen an d obstru ct the oxy gen flow to the
burners.
