Operating Procedures for ROPRO®Storage Tanks
Flowmatic Systems, Inc.
Dunnellon, Florida 1/1/02
ROPRO storage tanks are made from high quality food grade polypropylene, so they will never dent, chip or rust. They are designed to provide superior service throughout the life of your residential reverse osmosis system. Please follow the procedures described below:
Placement
Storage tanks may be placed vertically or on their side where it is convenient, within ten feet of the faucet. Under sink or in a nearby cabinet are excellent choices. If tank is located further than ten feet from the faucet, use 1/2” or 3/8” tubing to reduce pressure drop. When full, tank may weigh more than thirty pounds, so a sturdy shelf is required.
Temperature
ROPRO tanks should not be used at temperatures below 40°F or above 125°F.
Pre-fill tanks for best results
Pre-filling the storage tank is always recommended so there is sufficient pressure to check for leaks and make certain you have sufficient water to flush the carbon post filter. To pre-fill tanks, connect storage tank to feed water line. Open feed water valve in tank. Allow tank to fill for approximately three minutes. Turn off feed water valve and tank valve to check for leaks. Empty tank after initial use to flush system.
Sanitizing instructions
It may be necessary to sanitize RO systems and ROPRO tanks from time to time. To successfully complete this procedure, close the feed water valve and follow the sanitizing instructions provided by your RO system manufacturer.
A 5% Clorox
®
bleach is an acceptable sanitizing solution, along with similar brands. To sanitize tank, flush system with chlorine and allow the water and chlorine solution to flow into tank. Discard the first two tanks of water produced as they contain chlorine. Do not use this water.
Do not directly expose tank to high concentrations of sanitizing chemicals. Properly dilute bleach with water to prevent damage to tank and diaphragm.
Air loss
Tanks are pre charged with air, to 7 psi. If flow is reduced, check air pressure and add air if necessary.
