damages resulting from improper installation and/ or maintenance.
Local building or plumbing codes may require modifications to the information provided. You are required to consult the local building and plumbing codes prior to installation. If this information is not consistent with local building or plumbing codes, the local codes should be followed.
Need for Periodic Inspection/Maintenance: This product must be tested periodically in compliance with local codes, but at least once per year or more as service conditions warrant. Corrosive water conditions, and/or unauthorized adjustments or repair could render the product ineffective for the service intended. Regular checking and cleaning of the product’s internal components helps assure maximum life and proper product function.
Installation Instructions
The Watts Governor 80-M1 is for both existing and new installations providing an auxiliary relief feature, a safe antisiphon vacuum breaker and truly dependable fill valve assembly.
The non-adjustable thermal expansion relief valve is set standardly at 80psi (552 kPa), 100psi (6.9 bar), or 125psi (8.6 bar) with a maximum operating temperature of 110°F (135ºC) to meet existing codes. The Watts Governor 80 is available in three

maximum water level mark is even with or above the top of the overflow tube.
Important: This is a control device that limits
system pressure in the event of thermal expansion. It does not take the place of any safety relief devices that are required by code. If the incoming water pressure exceeds 65psi (448 kPa), a pressure reducing valve must be installed at the service entrance. If the system already contains a pressure reducing valve, be sure it is set no higher than 65psi (448 kPa) under a no-flow condition.
Installation Instructions For The Governor 80-M1.
1. Shut off water supply valve. Drain tank.
2. Unscrew water supply line coupling nut from
ball cock shank beneath tank. (A small amount of water will drain out.) Slide coupling nut down water supply line to be reused. If replacement is necessary, a new coupling nut is provided. (See reverse side.)
3. Unscrew and remove lock nut from ball cock
shank. Remove old ballcock assembly.
4. Thread float rod into lever on top of the
Governor 80-M1. (If your tank requires a longer threaded float rod, obtain one or reuse float rod from old ball cock.) Thread the float onto the float rod.
5. Insert shank through hole in bottom of tank.
Position ball cock inside tank so rod and float do not rub against flush valve or back of tank. Hold ball cock steady inside the tank while threading

Sometimes slight adjustments have to be made to maintain the proper water level in the tank. This can be done by slightly bending the float rod. Bend rod upward to allow more water into the tank or bend downward to reduce water level.
