Read all instructions before proceeding.
Your Ford Explorer must have the standard roof rack rails on both sides of the vehicle for
this rack to mount properly. While the weight capacity of our cargo basket exceeds 400 lbs., with
weight distributed evenly over the entire area of the rack, you should refer to your vehicle manual
for the load capacity of the roof of your explorer, and be guided by those constraints.
1. Begin by removing the rear end caps from the rack rails on both sides of the roof. Then loosen and
remove the locking tabs and the two cross rail assemblies by sliding them to the rear until they are
clear of the rails.
2. Install the basket mounting brackets by first sliding one locking tab onto each rail, followed by three
mounting brackets with the flanges pointed to the inside. Position the brackets approximately to
support the front, middle, and rear of the basket.
3. Lift basket in place on top of the brackets and then adjust basket to center; forward to back and left to
right. The brackets should be positioned directly underneath the front, middle, and rear basket floor
cross members.
4. Insert the U-bolts provided, from the top, with the flat spacer on top of the cross member and the legs
inserted through the holes in the mounting bracket. Tighten all nuts once you have confirmed that the
basket is centered where you want it.
5. Reinstall the rear locking tabs on each side, and the rail end caps removed in step one (1) above. The
locking tabs should be positioned tightly against the mounting brackets, both front and rear, and then
tightened to secure the rack in place.
6. After a test drive, re-check tightness of all bolts and your done!
Enjoy your new Safari Rack by Warrior!
