To adjust sliping torques for those limiters, you have to proceed as follow:
Sizes 10 to 30:
Wind the adjusting nut until tight. Make sure that the discs springs are correctly centered on the locking washer.
Use spanner to thighten the adjusting nut until no slip is observed under maximum load conditions.
In order to avoid excess slip on machine start-up, it is common practice to turn the adjusting nut a further 60
degrees.
Sizes 40 to 60:
Wind the adjusting nut until tight against pilot plate. Make sure that the discs springs are correctly centered on the
pilot plate. Apply load on the spring by releasing the adjustings bolts until no slip is observed under maximum load
conditions. It is essential that all of the four bolts are equally turned or damage to friction facings will occur.
In order to avoid excess slip on machine start-up, it is common practice to turn the bolts a further 60 degrees.
Sizes 70:
You have to distingquish in this size 2 types of spring assembly:
Assembly A to obtain Max sliping
torque : 3 800 N.m
Type A
Assembly B to obtain Max sliping
torque : 6 800 N.m
Type B
Wind the nut by hand. Ensure friction facings are concentric on the bush and the springs are correctly located
on the pins. Apply spring load by tightening the 8 adjusting bolts in approximatly 60 degrees steps until no slip is
observed under maximum load conditions in normal running mode. It is essential that all the 8 bolts have equal
adjustments or damage to friction facings will occur.
Having set the torque limiter as outlined above, it is common practice to advance the bolts a further 60 degrees to
prevent excess slip on machine start-up.
Lock the nut by tightening the 2 screws located in it.
Springs: For all sizes, the maximum torque is realised at approximatly 80% deflection of the spring. It is very
important to do not exceed this value to avoid damage to the springs.
