The Wadia 270
CD Transport
For over a decade Wadia Digital
has defined the leading edge of
CD transport development.
Wadia’s ex-haustive research into all
fields of digital technology has
produced innovative approaches that
have benefited each generation of
Wadia transport. The Wadia 270
continues this tradition of implementing the newest technology in the
service of high-quality digital music
playback.
ClockLink Input
When used with a ClockLinkequipped Decoding Computer, the
ClockLink system positions the
system master clock close to the
actual DAC chips rather than in
the transport. This eliminates
opportunities for transmission
noise to contaminate the clock,
radically re-ducing sonicallydamaging clock jitter.
Vibration Control
The Wadia 270 uses over thirty pounds of machined-aluminum
brackets, clamps, and shields to mechanically isolate critical
electrical and mechanical parts. In addition, a new damping
material – developed by Wadia – is applied to vibration-sensitive
locations, such as the disc clamp and oscillators.
Resolution Enhancement
The Wadia 270 Resolution Enhancement System produces a
24-bit signal using Triangular Probability-Distribution
Function (TPDF) dither. This signal can be decoded by any
24-bit capable Decoding Computer. Resolution Enhancement
improves DAC resolution, reduces jitter, and offers a marked
improvement in sonic quality.
Custom Optical Transmitters
The Wadia 270 continues Wadia’s pioneering use of glass fiber
optic technology for signal transmission. Wadia’s proprietary
glass-optical transmitter system is the first ST-optical transmis-
sion format optimized for the shorter lengths required by high-
performance audio systems.
Transformer Isolation Chamber
Enclosed in this sealed sub-chassis, sandwiched between layers of
neoprene damping material, the transformer is electrically,
mechanically, and acoustically
isolated from other components.
TCXO Output Clock
When used without a
ClockLink equipped DAC,
the Wadia 270 CD Transport
utilizes an extremely stable
Temperature-Compensated
Oscillator (TCXO) output clock.
The result is remarkable performance from a conventional DAC.
Silent Power
The Wadia 270 features the largest,
quietest power supply ever in a single
chassis Wadia CD trans-port. The
toriodal transformer uses triple-Faraday
shields to prevent high-frequency noise
from passing between power supply
sections. There are twelve stages of separate
regulation, including five sections of preregulation, each with high capaci-tance filtering.
Physical Specifications
Performance
The true strength of the Wadia
270 CD Transport lies not in
the technology, but in the
character of musical performance that the
technologyprovides.
Listening to the Wadia 270,
spaciousness pre-viously hidden is unveiled. There is
a dramatic increase in resolution deep into the
musical space and into the character of musical
instruments. Complex musical lines and textures
are unraveled with effortless clarity. But, the
most obvious characteristic of the Wadia 270 is
an increase in the realism and naturalness that
make listening to music a rewarding and
powerful experience.
