these operating instructions in order to familiarise yourself with the appliance

1 Safety precautions

1.2 General safety precautions

▪ Read the operating instructions before using the appliance for

the first time!

▪ This appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above

and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental cap­abilities, or lack of experience and/or knowledge, provided
they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use
of the appliance and have understood the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be undertaken by children without su­pervision.

▪ If an appliance is not equipped with a mains cable and a plug

or other means for disconnecting from the mains with a con­tact opening on each pole complying with the conditions of
overvoltage category III for full isolation, an isolating device
must be incorporated into the permanently installed electrical
installation in accordance with the installation regulations.

▪ If the mains cable of this appliance is damaged, it must be re-

placed by the manufacturer or its Customer Services or a sim­ilarly qualified person in order to avoid hazard.

1.3 Instructions for use

Before using for the first time

▪ The appliance must be installed and connected to the electricity supply in

accordance with the separate installation instructions. Have a qualified fitter/
electrician carry out the necessary work.

▪ Do not use the appliance if the cold circuit is damaged.

▪ Electrical safety (protection against contact) must be ensured by the install-

ation.

▪ When installed, it is important to ensure that the air inlets and vent openings

are not covered or blocked.

▪ Do not use extension cables, if possible.

Correct use

▪ This appliance is intended to be used exclusively for the storage of wine.

The appliance must only be used as described in the operating instructions.

▪ This appliance is intended for use in the home and similar settings such as:

in staff kitchens in shops, offices and other commercial establishments; in
agricultural establishments; by guests in hotels, motels and other accom­modation establishments; in bed and breakfast establishments. This appli­ance is not intended for use in the professional sector.

▪ No liability is assumed for any damage caused by improper or incorrect use

or by repairs carried out by an unqualified person. In this case any warranty
or other liability claims are deemed null and void.

▪ Any repairs, modifications or manipulations to the appliance, especially any

electrically live parts, may only be carried out by the manufacturer, its Cus­tomer Services or a similarly qualified person. Repairs if carried out incor­rectly may cause serious injury, damage to the appliance and fittings, as
well as affect the functioning of the appliance. If the appliance is not work­ing properly or in case a repair is needed, follow the instructions given in
the «Service & Support» section. Contact our Customer Services if neces­sary.

▪ Use original spare parts only.

▪ Retain these operating instructions for future reference.

▪ The appliance corresponds to recognized technology standards and the rel-

evant safety regulations. Proper use of the appliance is essential to avoid
damage and accidents. Please therefore follow the precautions given in
these operating instructions.

1 Safety precautions

Note on use

▪ Do not operate any electrical devices inside the appliance.

▪ High-proof alcohol should only be stored tightly sealed and standing up-

right. Do not store explosive materials in the appliance. Danger of explo­sion!

▪ This appliance is CFC- and FC-free and contains small quantities of the en-

vironmentally friendly refrigerant isobutane (R600a).
Ensure that the cooling circuit is not damaged when handling the appliance.
If the cooling circuit were to become damaged, however, all types of open
flame and sources of ignition are to be avoided as isobutane is flammable.
The room in which the appliance is located must be ventilated for a few
minutes. Notify our Customer Services.

▪ If the appliance you have received is damaged, please contact your sup-

plier immediately.

Caution: Risk of injury!

▪ Be careful not to put fingers in the door hinges, as there is otherwise a risk

of injury if the appliance door is moved. Particular care should be taken
when children are around.

▪ When cleaning, cut the power going to the appliance by: pulling out the

mains plug or switching off the fuse. Never pull the mains plug out of the
mains socket by the cable or with wet hands. Hold the mains plug and pull
it straight out of the socket.

▪ Do not remove the evaporation tray on the compressor. Fire hazard!

Caution: Risk to life!

Packaging materials, e.g. plastic film and polystyrene, can be dangerous for
children. Danger of suffocation! Keep packaging material away from children.

How to avoid damaging the appliance

▪ Clean the appliance just with water or a mild soapy solution (water and

washing-up liquid).

2 Disposal

Packaging

▪ All packaging materials (cardboard, plastic film (PE) and polystyrene (EPS))

are marked and should, if possible, be collected for recycling and disposed
of in an environmentally friendly way.

Disconnection

▪ Disconnect the appliance from the mains. With a fixed appliance, this is to

be carried out by a qualified electrician!

Safety

▪ Disable the appliance to prevent accidents caused by improper use, espe-

cially through children playing.

▪ Pull the plug out of the mains socket or have the appliance disconnected

from the mains by an electrician. Then cut the mains cable off flush with the
appliance.

Disposal

▪ The old appliance should not be discarded as worthless rubbish. If dis-

posed of correctly, the raw materials can be recovered for recycling.

▪ The symbol on the identification plate warns that the appliance may not

be disposed of in normal household waste.

▪ The appliance must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations on

waste disposal. For more information on the handling, disposal and recyc­ling of the product, please contact the local authorities, the local recycling
facilities for household waste or the retailer from whom you purchased the
appliance.

3 Using for the first time

Before operating the newly installed appliance for the first time, the following
steps should be taken:

▸ Remove packaging and transport material, as well as protective film, if any,

from the interior.

▸ Clean the interior and accessories with lukewarm water or a mild alkaline

solution, and dry completely.

▸ Check that all appliance door seals are completely dry, and dry them if ne-

cessary.

▸ If the appliance was transported in a horizontal position, wait an hour before

switching it on.

5 Operation

5.1 Switching the appliance on

▸ Plug in the appliance at the mains.

– The status lights illuminate for 10 seconds.

▸ Hold the button depressed for 3 seconds.

– The appliance is switched on.

– The average temperature for the last 2hours is shown in the corres-

ponding temperature display.

A newly installed appliance that is filled with bottles of wine takes
around 24 hours to reach the set operating temperatures.

5.2 Setting the temperature

The temperature can be set between 5 °C and 18 °C.

▸ Hold one of the two buttons depressed for 3seconds.

– The corresponding set temperature flashes in the temperature display.

▸ Press the required button repeatedly until the desired temperature

flashes.

– If no further settings are made after 5 seconds, the temperature dis-

play stops flashing and the value that has been set is accepted.

– The average temperature for the last 2hours is shown in the temperat-

ure display; the set temperature will be reached after a few hours.

The value displayed may be different from the set value if the appli­ance door is left open for longer or if warm bottles have been placed
inside.

The set temperature in the lower cooling zone must be the same as or
higher than that in the upper cooling zone. If operating the appliance
without the divider shelf, the temperature settings for both cooling
zones must be identical.

5.3 Fast cooling

Use the fast cooling function to chill a large number of bottles in the upper
zone. It lowers the temperature in the upper cooling zone to 5 °C for 24hours.

▸ Hold the button depressed for 3 seconds.

– The yellow status light illuminates.

– Fast cooling is activated.

– After 24 hours, the fast cooling function automatically reverts to the

previous set temperature.

To end the fast cooling function in the activated state early:

▸ Hold the button depressed for 3 seconds.

– The yellow status light goes out.

– Fast cooling is deactivated.

5.4 Illumination

The illumination is set to "illumination when appliance door is opened” when it
leaves the factory. If desired, it can be set to “permanent illumination”.

▸ To activate permanent illumination, hold the button depressed for 3

seconds.

– appears briefly in the temperature display.

– Permanent illumination is activated.

▸ To deactivate permanent illumination, depress the button again for 3

seconds.

– appears briefly in the temperature displays.

– Illumination when the appliance door is opened is activated.

5.5 Button lock

The button lock prevents a temperature setting or any other function from be­ing adjusted unintentionally. To override the button lock:

▸ Hold the desired button depressed for 3 seconds until the corresponding

display or symbol flashes.

▸ Touch another button or make settings within 5 seconds.

– The button lock is reactivated 5 seconds after the last press of a but-

ton.

5.6 Switching the appliance off

▸ Hold the button depressed for 3 seconds.

– The appliance switches off.

– The status lights illuminate for 10 seconds.

If the appliance is being taken out of operation, e.g. for repair work or dis­posal:

▸ Remove the mains plug from the mains socket.

▸ When not in use for an extended period of time: Empty the appliance and

clean it. Leave the appliance door open.

6 Shelves and divider shelf

6.1 Shelves

Bottles can be stored on the shelves.
Shelves with bottles stored on them
must not be pulled out. (Not pull-out
shelves)

▸ If there are any bottles on the shelf,

remove them.

▸ Pull the shelf forwards, lift on the

appliance door side and remove.

6.2 Divider shelf

The divider shelf separates the appli­ance into two cooling zones. It can be
placed in three different positions.

▸ If there is a shelf lying on the divider

shelf, remove it.

▸ Pull the divider shelf forwards, lift on

the appliance door side and re­move.

▸ Push into one of the three possible

position sliders, tight to the back
wall.

– The divider shelf engages in

the desired position.

▸ Put back the shelves.

7 Tips and tricks

7.1 General information on using the appliance

▪ When closing the appliance door, make sure that it closes properly. The

self-closing hinges help keep it closed: The appliance door closes automat­ically from an opening angle of 20–30°.

▪ It can take several hours for the wine to cool down from room temperature

to the set temperature. The more warm bottles there are, the longer it takes.

▪ Changing the temperature setting simply changes the temperature, not the

time it takes for the bottles to cool down.

▪ Placing a warm or cold bottle directly in front of a temperature sensor can

affect the temperature regulation of the refrigerating appliance: it may cool
too little or too much.

▪ Ideally, leave the divider shelf in the position it was in when delivered from

the factory. This ensures the best possible temperature distribution.

7.2 Notes on storage of wine

▪ In the upper cooling zone at 5 to 12°C: White wine, rosé wine, sparkling

wine such as champagne, cava, spumante and Sekt.

▪ In the lower cooling zone at 12 to 18°C: Red wine.

▪ Ideal drinking temperatures:

5-8 °C Champagne, sparkling wine, Sekt, Prosecco

8-12 °C Young white wines (e.g. Chasselas, Müller-Thurgau, Chardon-

nay, Silvaner, Sauvignon Blanc)

9-15 °C More mature white wines (e.g. Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling)

15-17 °C Young red wines (e.g. Pinot Noir, Merlot, Gamay, Barbera)

17-18 °C Mature red wines (e.g. Cabernet Sauvignon, Barolo)

The lower temperatures are suitable for more simple wines, and the
higher ones for the more complex, better quality wines of each cat­egory.

7 Tips and tricks

7.3 Notes on saving energy

▪ Only open the appliance door when necessary and keep it open for as

short a time as possible. The sooner the appliance door is closed, the less
cold air escapes.

▪ Make sure the appliance door is closed correctly. The door seal must align

properly with the appliance frame.

▪ Do not install the appliance near radiators, heating pipes or flues, and pro-

tect it against direct sunlight.

8 Care and maintenance

8.1 Cleaning

Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents or scouring cloths.
If the appliance has wooden shelves, simply clean them with a
slightly damp cloth (no detergent necessary).

This may damage the appliance.

▸ Clean the interior, as required, with a mild soapy solution and wipe dry thor-

oughly.

▸ Regularly inspect the appliance door seal and clean with a soft brush if

dirty. This prevents it from sticking and getting damaged.

▸ Clean the operating and display elements just with a slightly damp cloth.

▸ If the appliance is not to be used for a while: switch it off with the button.

Empty, defrost and clean the appliance. Leave the appliance door open.

8.2 Changing the LED lighting

Use the original LED light from the manufacturer only.

▸ Disconnect the appliance from the mains and unscrew the fuse for the ap-

pliance or switch off the circuit breaker.

▸ Click off the LED light cover.

9 Noises and alarms

9.1 Operating noise

The compressor and the cooling circuit make various noises while the appli­ance is running. Although the appliance is fitted with a quiet compressor and a
noise-optimized cooling circuit, certain noises cannot be completely avoided
and their volume depends on how it is installed and on the cooling require­ments (e.g. fast cooling). Operating noise is most audible immediately after
the compressor cuts in.

Unusual noises caused by improper installation

Unusual noises are often caused by improper installation. The appliance must
be installed on a level and stable surface. The pipework on the back of the ap­pliance must never touch the wall or other furniture. The pipes must not touch
each other.
In open kitchens or in the case of appliances installed in partitioned areas,
normal operating noises may seem louder. This is not a fault but rather an ef­fect of the architecture.

9.2 Warning signal and alarm

An acoustic signal is emitted to alert the user to a problem in the following in­stances:

▪ If the appliance door is left open for longer than 5 minutes.

▪ If the cooling temperature rises 10 °C above the set temperature.

▸ Press any button to quit the alarm.

▸ Close the appliance door if necessary.

10 Trouble-shooting

This section lists faults that can be solved simply by following the instructions
given. If another fault is displayed or the fault cannot be remedied, please call
Customer Services.
