Caution: Memory modules have a foolproof insertion design. A memory module can be installed in

The tools required for servicing the TC 15yy series Thin Client are shown in Figure 1.

2 Pedestal and Side Cover
Removing the Pedestal and Side Cover
The procedure to remove the power adapter, pedestal and top cover of the Thin Client is explained in this
section.
To remove the pedestal and top cover:
1. Turn Off the power to the client.
2. Unplug and remove the power adapter from its connector at the back of the client.
3. Unlock and remove the pedestal as shown in Figure 2.

4. Using the star screwdriver ( Item B in Figure 1) unscrew the 4 screws shown in Figure 3.

Note: Retain the screws for future use.
5. Pull the side cover upwards and remove it as shown in Figure 4.

Fixing the Pedestal and Side Cover
To fix the side cover, pedestal and power adapter:
1. Gently press the side cover downwards.
2. Using the star screwdriver tighten the four screws holding the side cover.
3. Fix the pedestal and lock it.
4. Switch On the power to the client.

3 Replacing RAM
To replace RAM:
1. Remove the power adapter, pedestal and side cover . For more information see, section
‘ Removing the Pedestal and Side Cover’ on page 3.
Note : If the RAM is fixed using glue, apply isopropyl alcohol on the glue holding the RAM,
pull the glue out using the nose pliers.
2. Unlock the clip on either side of the RAM, by pushing it sideways simultaneously.

3. Remove the existing RAM from the socket by pulling it outward.

4. Insert the new RAM in the socket.
Note: Ensure that the new RAM is of the same dimensions as the existing RAM.
5. Press the RAM downwards until the clip at each end of the socket lock into position.

Note:
You will hear a distinctive click, indicating the module is correctly locked into position.
Use the hot glue gun to fix the RAM with glue.
6. Fix the top cover, pedestal and power adapter. For more information see, section ‘ Fixing the
Pedestal and Side Cover’ on page 4.

4 Replacing Flash
To replace Flash:
1. Remove the power adapter, pedestal and side cover. For more information see, section
‘ Removing the Pedestal and Side Cover’ on page 3.
Note : If the flash is fixed using glue, apply isopropyl alcohol on the glue holding the RAM,
pull the glue out using the nose pliers.
2. Gently pull the IDE flash up from the socket, as shown in Figure 7.

3. Place the new flash in the free socket and press it downwards.
Note:
Ensure that the new Flash is of the same dimensions as the previous one and has the
correct software image installed on it.
Use the hot glue gun to fix the Flash with glue.
4. Fix the top cover, pedestal and power adapter. For more information see, ‘ Fixing ’ on page 4.

5 Replacing Wireless LAN
To replace wireless LAN:
1. Remove the power adapter, pedestal and side cover. For more information see, section
‘ Removing the Pedestal and Side Cover’ on page 3.
2. Unscrew and remove the antenna.

3. Using the nut driver ( Item C in Figure 1) remove the nut and tooth washer.

4. Remove the WLAN PCB.

5. Pull in and remove the antenna cable.

6. Insert the antenna cable of the new Wireless LAN.
7. Fix the WLAN PCB.
8. Using the nut driver ( Item C in Figure 1), fix tooth the washer and nut.
9. Fix and tighten the antenna.
10. Fix the top cover, pedestal and power adapter. For more information see, Fixing on page 4.

6 Replacing the Motherboard
To replace the motherboard:
1. Remove the power adapter, pedestal and side cover. For more information see, section
‘Removing the Pedestal and Side Cover’ on page 5.
2. Using the nut driver ( Item C in Figure 1), remove spacer from the DVI-I connector.

3. Unscrew and remove front bezel.

4. Using the star screw driver ( Item B in Figure 1) unscrew and remove the front panel.

5. Using the start screwdriver ( Item B in Figure 1) unscrew the motherboard screw.

6. Slide and remove the motherboard.

7. Replace the existing motherboard with a new motherboard.
8. Using the star screwdriver, fix the motherboard.
9. Fix the front panel and the front bezel.
10. Fix the DVI-I connector spacers.
11. Fix the side cover, pedestal and power adapter.
12. Fix the top cover, pedestal and power adapter. For more information see, Fixing on page 4.
