User manual for Action DVR VW898
VW898 is a full 1080P Action DVR,. It can work as a pocket
camcorder, sports camera, dash cam, driving recorder,still
camera, webcam, and a removable storage device. with it, you
can record your happy life anytime anywhere when riding bike,
riding motor, skateboarding, parachuting, playing R/C any other
sports.
Working buttons:
ON/OFF Button:
For ON/OFF and webcam and removable storage disk functions.
MODE Button:
There are three modes for this DVR, MODE button is for switching
between these three modes:
1920x1080P 30fps
1280x720P 60fps
1280x720P 30fps.
SHUTTER Button:
For taking picture and starting video recording and stopping video
recording.
MIC:
For recording video sound.
LENS:
For recording video image.
Indicator Light:
Red light: 1920x1080P 30fps,
Green light: 1280x720P 60fps
Orange light:1280x720P 30fps
USB Slot:
Mini USB 8 pins port for connecting to computer for charging and
reading information.
RESET:
For resetting to original setting when DVR system halted.
Operation:
1.Charging:
A:Charging the DVR via the supplied USB cable connecting to
computer, it can also be charged via DC5V.
B: 1): While charging, the yellow light stays on;
2): When charging is full or connecting VW898 to PC when it’s
powered on, the red light stays on;
3): When charging is full or connecting VW898 to PC when it’s
powered off, the yellow light turns off.
C: Charging it for 2 hours will be full, it can record continuously
for about 80 minutes after full charge.
D:It can record while charging.
2.Inserting micro sd card:
Capacity upto 32GB micro sd card is supported.
3.Powering ON & Powering OFF
To power on VW898, please Press briefly the ON/OFF button and
wait for 3 seconds until the red light blinks, in any status, to
power off VW898, please press and hold the ON/OFF button until
the indicator light turns off.
4. Taking Picture:
After switching on, it enters into default 1080P mode, press
briefly the SHUTTER button, the indicator light blinks once, then
it takes one picture and then it turns back to standby mode.
pressing briefly the SHUTTER button again to take one more
picture.
5.Video recording:
After switching on, it enters into standby mode in the default
1080P, pressing and holding the SHUTTER button, the red light
blinks and it starts to record video, to pause, please press briefly
the SHUTTER button again, the red light stops blinking and then it
turns back to standby mode.
6.Switch mode:
There are three modes available, in standby mode, pressing
briefly the MODE button once to switch to different mode as
below:
Red indicator light(default) :1920x1080P 30fps
Green indicator light: 1280x720P 60fps
Orange indicator light: 1280x720P 30fp
Notice: The switch will be effective only after video recording has
stopped.
7.Plug to PC:
When VW898 is powered off and plugging to computer, VW898
will be recognized as a removable storage disk, open the disk
to check recording and set time/date stamp.
8.Webcam:
VW898 can work as a webcam, please power it on first, then press
briefly the ON/OFF button again and then plug it to PC, and then
you will find the standard webcam on “my computer”.
9.Time stamp setting:
There are three time format available as below:
1:YMD, 2:MDY, 3:DMY
Please insert micro sd card into VW898 and plug it to PC, it will
create automatically a txt file named “usercfg”.
To revise time stamp : open the TXT file and find the
“DateTime=0 ;YYYY/MM/DD-HH:MM:SS [Min:0, Max:0]”, fill in the
time starting from “DateTime=” such as 2014/06/13-12:10:00
To select time stamp format: open the TXT file and find the
DateTimeFormat=1;0:NOT Display Date/Time, 1:YMD, 2:MDY,
3:DMY [Min:0, Max:2] ,for example, DateTimeFormat=2，the format
is MM/DD/YYYY，the default format is 1.
Notice: only the numbers can be revised, the format can’t be
revised.
10.Driving recorder mode:
VW898 can record automatically after engine while charging and
can be charged via DC5V car charger adaptor (not included but
optional).
The Lens is 180° roating, when it works as a driving recorder, you
will have to mount VW898 upside-down by following up these
steps:
Insert the micro SD card，USB connect the VW898 to the computer，
extract the SD_EBB66.bin file from the "Converse Angle" folder in
the firmware rar file and put the file in the root of the micro SD card,
unplug VW898, then press the ON/OFF button to power it on,
VW898 will upgrate the software automatically and then power off
and then delete the “SD_EB66.bin” automatically.
When VW898 works as a normal DVR, please change the lens
angle back to default obverse angle via following up the steps as
below:
Insert the micro SD card，USB connect the VW898 to the computer，
extract the SD_EBB66.bin file from the "Obverse Angle" folder in
the firmware rar file and put the file in the root of the micro SD card,
unplug VW898, then press the ON/OFF button to power it on,
VW898 will upgrate the software automatically and then power off
and then delete the “SD_EB66.bin” automatically.
11.Looping recording:
There are four video clip lengths available for looping recording,
they are 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes and 10 minutes, the
default is OFF, you can set it by following these steps:
Please find the “VideoClipTime=1 ;Video clip time, 0: Off loop
record, 1:1min, 2:3min 3:5min, 4:10min [Min:0, Max:4] “ on the
“usercfg” file, for example, if you need 3 munite clip, please fill in
the digit “2” to the “VideoClipTime=” and save it. To disable this
function, please fill in 0.
12.Video- OUT:
1)Plug VW898 to TV set via the supplied AV cable, when the TV
set is in AV mode, it enters into webcam mode automatically,
press the MODE button to change between video playback mode
and webcam mode.
2) To play back the recorded video, briefly press the ON/OFF
button to select video, then press the SHUTTER button to start
playing.
3) To pause or continue playing, please press the SHUTTER button,
press the ON/OFF button briefly to play it at the speed of 2 times
or 4 time or 8 times.
4) To press the MODE button to quit playing and turn back to the
front page.
5) To power off VW898 to quit the Video-Out function.
6) The supported AV system is NTSC/PAL(defaut)
13.Reset
To reset VW898,please get a small pin to press the RESET button
when VW898 gets halted.

Exception handling:
1. When it can’t be powered on or indicator light flashes quickly
and then It power off: please recharge the battery and insert
micro sd card.
2.While recording, the indicator light flashes 10 seconds and then
goes off: the memory card maybe full or battery has ran out,
please clear the memory card first and then recharge the battery.
3.After powering on, if no any operation in 1 minute, the VW898
will turn off automatically.
Warning:
Working Humidity: -20℃~60℃. This product is not waterproof,
so please be aware of water.
Shooting Brightness: Please operate it in sunny environment ,
Don’t expose it directly to strong light in order to avoid damage
to optical devices.
Cleaning: Don’t use it in environment of high dust density in
order to avoid the contamination of camera lens or other
components.
Disposal:Please don’t randomly discard this product, prohibit
the throwing of this product in the fire in order to avoid an
explosion
