2. Introduction
A restorative night’s sleep is very important for our physical and psychological well-being; during sleep we process things such as new experiences and improve our mental fitness. If you snore, however, your
4
sleep quality is affected. This device is designed to reduce snoring and increase sleep quality as well as your well-being, so you can get a better night’s sleep.
How does the snore stopper work?
When attached to the left or right ear, the snore stopper detects snoring noises, which produce vibrations transmitted via the cranial bones. When the snore stopper detects noises and vibrations, it emits impulses to the ear that consist of tones and/or vibrations. The intensity of these impulses starts at a low level and increases until snoring stops. The throat muscles become firm and the airways open as a reaction to these impulses, therefore calming breathing and decreasing snoring. In the long term, this training of the muscles in the throat produces a lasting reduction in snoring. Note that it may take up to seven days to become accustomed to the device.
