Congratulations on your purchase of the VULCANUS® grill. You have chosen a unique product with a luxury patented design and EU certication for food.
Please read the instructions carefully before using the grill for the rst time.
1) Installation
VULCANUS® is made of several pieces that are attached to each other and the whole is anchored to a pallet. Mounting will not, therefore, be a problem for you. We recommend transporting it to your chosen location using a pallet cart. In most cases, this pallet cart is available from shipping companies that VULCANUS® will bring to you. Since all VULCANUS® models are heavy, we recommend that at least two physically t persons be present during handling.
a) Select where you will place your new VULCANUS®. Be sure to place it at a safe distance from
any ammable items or those that cannot handle heat. Remember that a light surface such as stone, etc. is easily dirty, for example, by ash, cooking grease and rainwater owing into the re pit.
b) Next to the selected location, start unpacking your new VULCANUS®. Remove the binding material
and cardboard packaging. Ceramic storage pads are already in place and you only need to check that they are in the correct position after loosening them. Now, with the help of several physically competent people, slide the barbecue out of the pallet towards the selected place. You can also use two sticks, two wooden beams, or binding towers placed through the grill base (see picture) if necessary.
c) Adjust the position of the hearth using a level.
This is especially important in order to avoid fat and juice from the grilled food overowing to one side. Adjustable screw feet can also be used (attached). Once the grill is level, you can anchor it to the underlying pedestal (attached). The original anchor kit comes with a lock, but VULCANUS® can be moved at any time. This solution is suitable, for example, for public places and for security purposes.
2) Information and preparation before use
The VULCANUS® outdoor replace works best after the third use after hot oil has been absorbed into the plate. This process helps prepare the food and protects the plate from corrosion. During production, we treated the plate with vegetable oil that formed a protective layer. Therefore, the surface may seem sticky to the touch.
For cooking, it is best to use oil with a higher smoke point, such as rened oils like sunower, rapeseed, and corn oil. You can also use virgin olive oil, but it is not suitable for extra virgin quality. If you want to get a nice brown to black color, we recommend using olive oil right on the rst treatment of the plate.
Follow these points:
Wipe the plate clean with a damp cloth.
In the middle of the replace, put dry wood into a pyramid and use a re starter to heat up the VULCANUS® grill for the rst time. Beech, oak or ash industrially dried wood burns well. Other hardwoods can also be used.
Use a cloth or paper towel to wipe the plate with cooking oil. Repeat this procedure several times until the grill has completely heated up (approx. 45 min), and ideally heat and apply oil for an additional hour. Let the re naturally burn out. The surface will absorb the heated oil and, after one or two uses, discolor into dark brown or black. VULCANUS® is now ready for use.
The design is patent-protected and has EU certication for food.
The COR-TEN grill body is equipped with an accumulation core. The special shape and weight of the core guarantee superior circulation of hot air, thermal stability, reduced wood consumption and grill functionality even in the winter. The grease drainage system ensures fragrant and healthy food. The ashtray simplies grill maintenance and many standard accessories enhance the cooking possibilities.
3) During use
Once you have ignited the VULCANUS® re pit, wait 30-45 minutes before the plate is heated to 250-300 °C, which is the maximum cooking temperature. The warmest area of the plate is in the middle of each side. Corner areas are suitable for more gentle grilling, such as sh, vegetables, cheeses or the like, or for keeping food hot, ripening steaks or for a sauce pot. Weak wind and the distribution of wood in the replace can aect the burning rate of individual parts of the plate. Once the hotplate begins to warm up, clean it with a spatula to remove grease that has remained on the surface from previous use. Then, pour new oil to the place where you want to cook and clean it with a cloth or paper towel. During cooking, add oil to the plate as needed. To slow down the cooking process and deliver a smoky avor to the food, put the ingredients on a hardwood logwood board and place it on the cooktop.
4) Fire extinction
The easiest way to extinguish the re is to let it burn out or place the lid on the plate. Do NOT pour water into the re, as this may cause the accumulation core to crack. Also keep in mind that the VULCANUS® outdoor grill can be very hot for several hours after use.
5) Cleaning the replace after grilling
Once the plate has cooled to an adequate temperature, clean the plate with a spatula, or a cloth or paper towel, and then wipe it with oil again. This prevents corrosion from the surface and prepares it for future use. Remove the ash from the replace. Remove the stainless steel grease trap. The stainless steel bowl can also be washed in a dishwasher. Lift the inner ceramic dome from the center of the replace and place the steel ash container on the shelf under it. Use a brush to clean the ash through the central opening into the prepared steel container. Before you throw away the ashes, make sure they completely cool down.
6) Maintenance of the replace and pedestal
The replace and stand are made of COR-TEN material, which is very easy to maintain. This special material has been developed for shipbuilding and surface rust actually helps protect the steel from deep corrosion. Therefore, VULCANUS® can be left outdoors all year round and the base and replace will naturally get a ruby patina over time. Simply remove the ash, especially if you are not going to use VULCANUS® for a long time. We also recommend using a cover (accessory) that reliably protects the grill and furnace from rain, snow and falling leaves.
7) Plate maintenance
If you have not grilled for a long time, or if you have not treated the grill correctly according to the instructions described in 2) and 5), rust may form on the plate as a result of low use or insucient oil lubrication. The use of the lid (accessory) eliminates this. You can easily remove the rust with gentle grinding and repeat the process described in 2) and 5). The more often VULCANUS® is used, the more you protect the plate from corrosion, as the hot oil layer soaks in. You do not even need to worry about miniscule dirt because all unwanted lth will be reliably destroyed by heat – which has been certied and proven with laboratory testing.
8) Disclaimer - Safety Warning
Just like any other open re cooking appliance, VULCANUS® heats up and can be hot for a long time after you stop adding fuel. All parts of the VULCANUS® grill (the plate, re pit and, to a lesser extent, pedestal) may become hot during use. Take precautions to ensure that none of your friends or relatives touches the grill while it is hot. VULCANUS® is designed only for burning dry wood and charcoal. We do not recommend burning other materials or fuels. After use, make sure the ash from the VULCANUS® grill has completely cooled before throwing it out.
9) Exclusion of liability
The buyer and the user are responsible for the correct and safe use of this product. The buyer and user of the grill agree that neither VULCANUS® design s.r.o. nor its distributors (including suppliers and operators working for an indenite or one-time basis) are liable for any personal injury or damage caused by the use of this product. The buyer accepts responsibility for overseeing others, including third parties, children and pets, in order to not get burned from touching the hot grill, and accepts the risks associated with keeping VULCANUS® hot without supervision. This manual should be stored in a safe place and every user should read it before using the grill.
10) Warning
VULCANUS® is very hot!
Do not use VULCANUS® indoors!
Do not use alcohol or gasoline as a rebox! Only use lighters complying with EN 1860-3!
