QuickTouch™ RCU
Rather than “switching” between devices to control your conferences, VTEL’s QuickTouch RCU is a dualfunction device that gives the user a unique setting in which to videoconference. We made it easy for the
user to switch between “modes” from hand-held to desktop. When in the open position, a fully functional
keyboard is available to the user. When in the closed position, the device is used as a remote control unit.
You are in control of all applications and options when using our QuickTouch RCU.

Gatekeepers and Aliases
E.164 Addresses section
provides a place to add multiple
E.164 identities for the local
machine. The default E.164
address (its IP address without
dots) is automatically displayed.
Host Addresses section displays
the local machine name, as
seen by Windows, as its
Domain Name and displays the
local IP address. These fields
are display only and cannot be
edited.
Firewall Settings section allows
the user to specify UDP and TCP
port ranges for H.323.
H.323 IDs section
provides a place to add
multiple aliases by which
this machine can be
identified.
Gatekeeper section
allows the user to select
whether to Disable
Gatekeeper registration,
Discover a Gatekeeper for
registration, or Manually
define a Gatekeeper
address.
Enable NAT Address
checkbox: When
checked, insert the IP
address of the NAT
device the system will be
using for IP connections.
Caller ID
Caller ID section allows the user
to screen calls by allowing only
calls from a user-established list
of known sites, and block calls
from another established list.
Prompt for Site Add in
checkbox, when checked,
causes the system to prompt
the user to add the caller to the
address book each time a
connection is established.
For privacy/security purposes,
the user also has the option of
showing or not showing
incoming caller ID, as well as
whether or not to display local
information.
Answer Mode section
allows the user to decide
whether to have the
system AutoAnswer
incoming calls.
Web Server
Add or remove users, determine
their privileges by assigning
them to a specific group, e.g.,
VCSadmin for administrative
rights (control the Soft Tablet)
Chapter 8
Soft Tablet
With the web server enabled (System Configuration utility, System Settings page), local control of the unit is now available over TCP/IP.
This web server is a service of VCS, not Windows; therefore, VCS system software must be running to access the Soft Tablet.
Accessing the Soft Tablet
From any other PC (logged on to the same network as the videoconferencing system), open an Internet browser and type in the address:
http://(system alias or IP address)/tablet.
(e.g., http://10.15.253.238/tablet …
A login screen will appear:
OR… http://learning_center/tablet)
Type admin (all lower case) for
the User Name
Type vtel (all lower case) for
the password
Click [OK]
Most of the functions available
on the digital graphics tablet
are now available to any
networked PC, e.g., camera
controls, call management, PIP
control, audio controls and
slides.
On the controlling PC, use the
mouse pointer to click on the
desired system control icon.
This is the screen that appears
when the Slide Management
icon is invoked from the Soft
Tablet interface.
Chapter 9
Diagnostics
As with all previous versions of VTEL videoconferencing systems, the VTEL software (in this case, VCS) must be exited before running
diagnostics, or false failures will occur.
From the Windows desktop,
click Start / All Programs /
VTEL / Diagnostics.
Click the [Run] bar to initiate
system diagnostics.
User intervention is required
only to verify that audio,
microphone(s) and video
routing are all working
properly.
All Pass/Fail results are
displayed upon completion,
and individual test results can
be reviewed by scrolling up or
