DESCRIPTION
• Single channel overdrive based on Brownface and Blackface era amps.
• LOW Gain switch mode is a touch sensitive almost clean light overdrive.
• HIGH Gain switch mode is a creamy quite gainy overdrive with natural
compression.
• LOW Era Amp switch mode reduces the midrange while giving a glassy
tone character based on the Blackface ’65 sounds.
•
• HIGH Era Amp switch mode adds midrange for fat and full tone character
based on the Brownface ’63 sounds.
• 18VDC supply operation for maximum headroom.
• Parallel mode relay switching (True Bypass).

Brownface mode.

FOOTSWITCH toggles effect on/bypass (LED indi-
cates on). When the effect is off and the button is
pressed and held more than 2 seconds, the effect
turns on for as long as the button is pressed. With
the release of the button the effect turns off (Parallel
Mode).

OPERATION
• Run a cable from your guitar to the Vs Audio “Blackbird” INPUT
jack and run another cable from the Vs Audio “Blackbird” OUTPUT
jack to your amplier.
• Start with all VOLUME, TONE, DRIVE knobs at 12 o’ clock.
• Turn the effect on by pressing the footswitch of the pedal.
Parallel mode relay switching behaves like a standard footswitch
plus the abili
plus the ability “HOLD-RELEASE” feature. Press and hold the relay
switch, instant the effect turns on, release the switch, instant the
effect is bypass.
• Rotate the VOLUME knob clockwise or counterclockwise to maintain
unity volume with clean signal.
• Rotate the TONE knob clockwise to boost high frequencies or
counterclockwise to decrease them.
•
• Rotate the DRIVE knob clockwise to increase the amount of overdrive
or counter clockwise to decrease it.
• Use the GAIN switch to toggle between LOW Gain mode and HIGH
Gain mode.
• Use the ERA switch to toggle between Brownface mode and
Blackface mode.
POWER
The Vs Audio Blackbird is powered by any voltage between 9 and 18
volts DC, or any multi-power supply brick for effect pedals (recom-
mended power supply output 9-18V DC 100mA, center negative po-
larity).
