VR-2 Reference Speaker
Not Just Another Speaker!
Holographic imaging and transient
response rivaling the excitement of a
live performance is combined with
exceptional bass response to provide a
new benchmark at an affordable price
point.
Transmission-line bass loading provides
very tight, deep bass using twin 6.5”
Super-duty woofers. Response is flat to
25 Hz!
Resonance-trap feature enables end
user to install lead shot, damping
cabinet resonances for super-clean
midbass and lower midrange sound.
Our proprietary Ambience Retrieval
System enables concert hall depth
replication. Utilizing a rear-firing
mid/tweeter driver fed with an out-ofphase ambience signal, the depth is
adjustable with a calibrated control.
Available in four finishes: pictured is
blond maple. Also available is dark red
cherry, black ash, and African
Hazelwood. Included are spikes and
twin sets of rhodium plated binding
posts for bi-wiring or bi-amping. Our
exclusive Ten-Year Warranty protects
your investment for a lifetime of musical
enjoyment.

Spectacular Transparency,
Unparalleled Value….
The search for the Holy Grail in loudspeaker
design has led to new technology developed
for the ground-breaking VR-2 Reference
Speaker System. Acoustic Inverse
Replication theory developed by Von
Schweikert enables the VR-2 speaker
system to closely reproduce the original
sound-field recorded by the microphones.
The holographic sound-stage image is
beyond comparison; depth is adjustable via
our exclusive rear-firing Ambience Retrieval
System with Dimension Control.
New driver technology was developed,
including aerospace composite transducer
diaphragms and Low Distortion Motors.
The woofer/main driver cones are composed
of cellulose acetate pulp, mica chips, and
resin; this combination of ingredients has a
very high Youngs Modulus (ratio of weight
to stiffness), leading to a new reference
standard in clarity. The tweeter dome is
fabricated of silk and layers of soft resin
sheet, enabling near perfect reproduction of
high frequencies without the typical “grain”
of common dome tweeters.
The new diaphragms are driven by a new
Low Distortion Motor design utilizing long
throw voice coils and extra-large magnets,
ensuring very high dynamic range and
smooth response at high volume levels.
This combination of ultra-light/ultra-rigid
diaphragms driven by huge motors results in
goosebump sound quality that has to be
heard to be believed!
The VR-2 can be used for the highest quality
two-channel systems as well as multichannel systems with our VR-1 monitors,
VR-S/1 powered mini sub, and our new
matching LCR-15 center channel speaker.
VR-2 SPECIFICATIONS
Woofer System: Twin 6.5” Extreme-duty drivers
with aerospace composite cones and long-throw Low
Distortion Motors, shielded for video use.
Twin Crossover Bass System: Lower woofer
operates up to 200 Hz, while the bass/mid woofer
operates up to 2.2 kHz. This eliminates the midrange
coloration encountered in twin midrange systems.
Cabinet Design: Triple-chambered transmission line
with front vent.
Damping System: Resonance-trap provided for
addition of lead shot. 10 to 25 lbs (4.5 to 11.4 kgs) of
shot can be added to stabilize the sound.
Frequency Range: 25 Hz to 20 kHz (-2dB).
Tweeter: Composite 1” dome, silk laminated with
two polymer resin coats; long throw design using
Low Distortion Motors, shielded for video use and
Ferrofluid liquid cooled.
Crossover Points: 200 Hz, 2.2 kHz.
Crossover Type: Global Axis Integration Network
for accurate off-axis frequency response and
consistent phase.
Impedance: 8 ohms nom. (7-20 ohms).
Sensitivity: 87.5 dB anechoic (90 dB in room with
boundary boost).
Ambience Retrieval System: 1” soft dome
mid/tweeter with rear-firing wave-guide, Dimension
Control for level.
Input Terminals: Twin sets of rhodium plated fiveway binding posts. Jumper straps provided for non
bi-wire cables.
Power Rating: 20 watts min., 200 watts maximum
peak r.m.s.
Dimensions: 40” (102 cm) H x 8” (20.3 cm) W x 16”
(40.7 cm) D
