World Class Reference Speaker Systems for Music and Film

To achieve spectacular transparency, we have
engineered drive units using space-age
materials and composites, eliminating the
distortion caused by cone/dome resonances
inherent in standard drive units. A special
composite of mica-impregnated cellulose
acetate pulp with polymer resin damping yields
a very stiff and light woofer/midrange cone,
enabling very fast transient response. Bass
power and midrange clarity are spectacular, far
exceeding that of ordinary small speaker
systems. To prevent distortion at high volume
levels, we have engineered a unique motor
system with very long throw and low distortion
by optimizing the magnetic assembly and voice
coil. To enable our new tweeter design to
reproduce clean high frequencies at high
volume levels, we have implemented unusual
mechanical construction of the tweeter motor
including a long throw voice coil and double
stacked magnets. To greatly reduce dome

has unusually lush sound, with a smoothness
not found in competing dome tweeters. Finally,

To enable deep bass without efficiency loss, we
have employed an aperiodic pressure-release
port on the rear of the cabinet. Note that this is
not a bass reflex system, so the port does not
contribute to bass output.
The Von Schweikert-designed Global Axis
Integration Network circuit enables magical
phase integration between the outstanding
drivers, allowing a natural and coherent blend
of midrange frequencies from the woofer and
tweeter. In addition, the crossover utilizes the
finest sounding parts available, including five­way rhodium plated binding posts.
The VR-1 is capable of the highest level of
transparency and image focus, consequently
offering a true insight into the natural sound of
the musical performance.

Stand-1

Dedicated stand for VR-1, made from
maximum density fiberboard/resin and painted
with medium-gloss black polyester resin finish.
The heavy mass and ideal height enables the
VR-1 to reach its maximum potential for image
focus and deep bass response.
Dimensions: 26” H (67cm), base 11”x 13” (28
x 33cm), weight is 14 lbs. (6.36 kgs).

VR-S/1 Powered Minisub
To extend the frequency response down to 20
Hz and broaden the dynamic range and impact
of the VR-1 monitor, we have designed the
VR-S/1 powered sub with high-speed transient
response. Very few subwoofers are fast enough
to invisibly blend with the main speaker, so we
made this our priority, using new technology.
The massive 10” Extreme-duty driver has an
extremely stiff suspension, designed to bring
the cone back to rest without undue oscillation.
Combined with the massive magnet and large
voice coil for extremely tight magnetic
damping, the woofer can start and stop as
quickly as the VR-1 main woofer.
To drive this heroic woofer, we have developed
a 300 watt r.m.s. amplifier (600 watts peak)
with High Current power supply and a full
complement of controls for the advanced
audiophile or videophile seeking the best sound
available in a compact package.
