TIPS / TROUBLESHOOTING
Why won’t Vonage Talk software say “Ready to Call”?
First, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet and you
are able to access web pages. Confi rm your high speed provider is not experiencing issues in your area.
Your computer may have a fi rewall that is blocking Vonage Talk VoIP
services. If you are running a fi rewall on your PC, you may see one or more security alerts when you insert the Vonage V-Phone into your computer. Your fi rewall needs to be told that Vonage Talk software is an accepted application – this can usually be done by clicking, Accept, Unblock or Approve when prompted. For more information, follow the specifi c directions provided by your fi rewall program.
If you are using Vonage Talk software in a corporate environment,
you may need to contact your Network Administrator to determine how to use Vonage Talk software with the corporate fi rewall.
What happens to my incoming calls if Vonage Talk software is shut down?
With Vonage you don’t miss any calls even if your Vonage Talk software is shut down. All missed calls go directly to your voicemail unless you have set up your Network Availability Number through your Vonage Web Account. Once activated, calls to your Vonage number will forward to the number you choose until your Vonage Talk software is active again.
Can I make calls to international numbers?
Yes! Vonage has great international rates and does not charge any connection fees. Don’t forget calls to Canada and Puerto Rico and select European countries are considered local, depending on your calling plan. Go to www.vonage.com to see our super low rates.
Does the Vonage V-Phone support 911 calls?
Because Vonage V-Phone usage is a mobile activity, it is not compatible with E911 or Basic 911. However, if you dial 911 from your V-Phone, your call will be routed to the Vonage emergency call center. A trained agent will answer your call and contact an emergency center near you to dispatch help. You must provide your location and call back information to the answering agent and the local personnel they contact. Please be assured that using Vonage
V-Phone does not affect 911 dialing with your other Vonage lines.
Have Questions or Problems?
A Common Solution:
Most problems can be fi xed by resetting the USB device:
Simply remove the Vonage V-Phone completely from the USB port and then wait 10 seconds and reinsert it. Vonage Talk software will shut down and then restart.
What happens if Vonage Talk software doesn’t run automatically?
The Microsoft Windows AutoPlay feature may have failed. Go to My Computer --> Double-click on the drive with the Vonage icon.
If it still doesn’t work, AutoPlay may be disabled. Open the drive with the Vonage icon and double click on “StartVonageTalk.exe”.
I bought my Vonage V-Phone at a retail store and don’t see my telephone number in the Vonage Talk main window?
You must fi rst subscribe to Vonage phone service by going to www.vonage.com/activate. Please wait 30 minutes before you plug your Vonage V-Phone into a computer.
Is it OK to remove the Vonage V-Phone from the USB port?
Yes, you can simply pull the device out of your USB drive and take it with you. Vonage Talk software will safely shut down.

Will Vonage V-Phone work with other headset microphones?
Yes, Vonage V-Phone will work with any standard 2.5 mm headset jack.
How can I try to adjust sound quality?
First make sure that the headset is completely plugged into the
Vonage V-Phone.
You can also try to adjust the earphone and microphone levels
by running the Audio Wizard (right-click on the Vonage icon in the system tray and select Audio Wizard).
Poor or choppy sound can also be due to a weak Internet
connection. Try using the Bandwidth Saver feature available online in the Vonage Dashboard controls.
Does the Vonage V-Phone require batteries?
No. The Vonage V-Phone is powered through your PC so there are no batteries to replace.
Does the Vonage V-Phone work with Macintosh computers?
Unfortunately the Vonage V-Phone only works with PCs at this time.
Please Note: Automatic Updates
Please be aware there may be some automatic software upgrades to your Vonage Talk software from time to time. These updates may occur when launching the Vonage Talk software and may take several minutes. This is normal, nothing needs to be done.
