minutes,youcanrestartthemotorwithout
performinganotherbreathtest.Thisisa
safetyfeaturewhichallowsyoutoquickly
restartthemotorifitstallsontheroad.Itis
alsoconvenientformakingfrequentshort
stops.

Sharingavehicle

Driverswiththeirownpersonalhandset
canoperatethesamevehiclewithout
reprogrammingtheALCOLOCK.Allthe
customsettingsaredownloadedintothe
ALCOLOCKECUeverytimeanewhandset
ispluggedin.

Thehandsetcanbeexchangedwhilethe
ignitionisONorOFF.

Itisstronglyrecommendedyoudonot
exchangethehandsetwhilethevehicleis
ON.Youwillberequiredtoconductabreath
testwhichmaydistractyourattentionfrom
theroad.

Intheinterestofyourownsafety,youshould
onlyexchangehandsetswhenthevehicleis
parkedandtheignitionisOFF .T oreplace
thehandsetwhiletheignitionisOFF ,simply
unplugtheoldhandsetandpluginthenew
one,asdescribedbelow.

Energyconservation

TheALCOLOCKcanbeplacedintosleep
modeafterthemotorhasbeenturnedOFF.In
sleepmode,theALCOLOCKwilloperateat
minimumpowertoconserveenergyinyour
vehiclebattery .

ToplacetheALCOLOCKintosleep
mode,simplypressandholdbothbuttons.
Alternatively,youcanwaituntilthesleep
timerexpires.Y oucanchoosefrom4sleep
timesasdescribedbelow.

incompatible”whentheyarerstconnected
alongwithawarningtone.Thesehandsets
willoperatecorrectly,butthevehiclewill
nolongerbeallowedtotransporthazardous
goods.

Thehandsetmaynotacceptabreathtestfor
variousreasonsandmessagessuchasInvalid
Sample,CancelledTryagain,communication
error,RF(radiofrequency)detected,Incorrect
orLowvoltage.Tominimizeerrors,ensure
thatthehandsetisconnectedproperlyand
cabling,connectorsandvehiclebatteryare
ingoodcondition.Turnmobilephonesoff.
Attemptthetestagain.

4TheALCOLOCKhandsetstopsworking.

Ifaproblemoccursafterengineshut-down,
themotorcanbestartedusingafourdigit
code.ThecodemayberequestedviaVolvo
ActionService.Thecodeisreplacedevery
dayanditmaynotbeusedoveralongperiod
oftime.Thevehiclemustbedriventoa
workshoptogettheALCOLOCKhandset
repaired.

1ClockError

TheVOL VOALCOLOCKreceivesits
timesignalfromthevehicle’ stachograph.
Shouldthetachographfailorberemoved
forservicing,a“Clockerror”message
willbedisplayedforseveralseconds.The
handsetwilloperatecorrectly ,butdateswill
notbecorrectlydisplayeduntilaproperly
functioningtachographisconnected.

2T echnicalError

Shouldthehandsetdetectaninternalpower
failure“Technicalerror”willbedisplayed.

Inthisstate,themotorcanbestartedby
pressingtherightbuttonandturningthekey
inthenormalsequence.Nobreathtestis
requiredwhenatechnicalerrorisdetected.

3Errorcodes

Thehandsetwilldisplayerrorcode10,
20,30,40,45or50ifatechnicalfaultis
detected.Thehandsetwillresettoallow
theusertoattemptanotherbreathtest.If
theconditionpersiststheALCOLOCKwill
requireservicing.
