IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE USING (THIS APPLIANCE)
When using an electrical appliance, basic precaution
should always be followed, including the following:
Before connecting the cleaner to an electrical supply
outlet ensure that the voltage marked on the rating
plate ( on the underside of the cleaner ) is correct
for your electrical supply. If it does not comply, do
not use the cleaner prior to contacting
the manufacturer.
WARNING – To reduce the risk of fire, electric
shock, or injury:
1. Do not leave vacuum cleaner when
plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not
in use and before servicing.
2. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not
use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
3. Young children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the
appliance. Close attention is necessary
when used near children.
4. This appliance is not intended for use by
persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack
of experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.
5. Use only as described in this manual.
Use only manufactures
recommended attachments.
6. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If
vacuum cleaner is not working as it should,
has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors,
or dropped in water, enter it to a service
centre before using.
7. Do not pull or carry on cord, use as a handle.
Do not close door on cord, or pull around sharp
edges or corners. Do not run vacuum cleaner
over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
8. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord.
To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
9. Do not handle the plug or vacuum cleaner
with wet hands.
10. Do not put any object into openings.
Do not use with any opening blocked.
Keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything
that may reduce airflow.
11. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and
all parts of body away from openings
and moving parts.

Turn all controls off before unplugging.

Use extra care when cleaning on stairs

14. Do not use to pick up flammable or
combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or
use in areas where they may be present.
15. Unplug before connecting the hose.
16. Do not pick up anything that is burning
or
smoking, such as cigarettes, matches,
or hot ashes.
17. Do not use without dust bag and/or filter
in place.
18.
Do not use extension cords or outlets with
inadequate current carrying capacity.
19. We recommend you do not use your
vacuum on carpet cleaning foams, sharp
or heavy building materials or plaster dust
They could damage or clog dustbag
and cause failures to other key parts
in your vacuum cleaner and render your
warranty invalid.
20. Store your cleaner indoors in a cool,
dry area.
21. Keep your work area well lighted.
22. Unplug electrical appliances before
vacuuming them.
SERVICE & REPAIR
It is dangerous to alter the specification or modify
the product in any way. Under no circumstances
should you attempt to repair the cleaner yourself.
Repairs are undertaken by unauthorized or
inexperienced persons may cause injury and/or
serious malfunction and may void warranty.
NB! To avoid injury and prevent damage to the
machine, a defective lead must only be replaced by
an authorised Volta service provider approved by
the manufacturer.
The cleaner should be serviced by an authorized
Volta service provider and only genuine Volta spare
parts should be used.
Double Insulation
Your vacuum cleaner is double insulated. This means
that all external parts are electrically insulated from
the mains. This is done by placing insulation barriers
between the electrical and mechanical components,
making it unnecessary for the cleaner to be earthed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

REPLACING THE DUST BAG
IN CASE OF A CLOTH BAG
Replace the dust bag as soon as the indicator
becomes fully illuminated, when the cleaner is
operating at maximum power and the nozzle is
raised from the floor.
1. Remove the hose and open the dust bag cover.
2. Holding the cardboard bag plate, remove the
dust bag from the holder.
3. Fit a new dust bag by inserting the cardboard
bag plate into the seating to the fullest extent
in the holder.
4. Adjust the bottom corners of the dust bag into
the dust bag compartment.
5. Adjust the upper part of the dust bag into the
dust bag compartment and close the lid.
Note: Replace the dust bag even if it is not full ( the
pores may be blocked ) Also replace after using carpet
cleaning powder.
Use only genuine replacement bags.

Warning: On collection of proprietary carpet
conditioning powders, plaster / concrete dust, it is
recommended that the dust bag is changed.
Some of the preparations contain substances
which while left in the vacuum cleaner for
extended periods, could create damage. Many
air fresheners, household deodorants, sprays
and polishes contain highly inflammable gas
propellants. Because of this it is particularly
important that these products are used strictly
in accordance with the relevant manufacturers
instructions. It is essential that none of the above
products are sprayed directly into the vacuum
cleaner or any of the filters, hose assembly or dust
chamber.
Spares
New filters and dust bags can be obtained from
your Authorised Electrolux service provider or at
the place of purchase.
Alternatively, contact Electrolux to purchase your
filters on 1300 365 305 (Aus), 0508 730 730 (NZ).
Follow the above 1,2,3 steps
To open, slide the plastic clip off the bag
Empty bag and refit the plastic clip
Note: The cloth bag may be washed in lukewarm water
and dried completely. It should not be washed
in washing machine.
Note: A cloth bag is not supplied with this product.
To purchase a cloth bag, please return to the place of
purchase or contact Electrolux on 1300 365 305 (Aus),
0508 730 730 (NZ).

1. Pull the dust bag upwards and remove the
motor protection filter.
2. Rinse the filter under tap water and
dry it completely.
3. Put the filter back into the cleaner and
close the cover
REPLACEMENT OF THE EXHAUST FILTER
1. Open the filter grille positioned at the
rear of the cleaner.
2. Remove the exhaust lter from the rear
housing, inspect the condition of the lter.
If heavily soiled replace the lter.
CLEANING THE MOTOR FILTER
It is recommended that the motor filter should be
cleaned approximately every three months or when
required with the cleaner used more frequently.
4. Fit the grille into the rear housing ensuring
the locating tabs are located in position and
push the grille for the latch to lock.

Trouble Shooting
Power
The vacuum cleaner does not start.
1. Check that the cable is connected to the mains.
2. Check that the plug and cable are not damaged.
3. Check for a blown fuse.
The Vacuum Cleaner stops
1. Check whether the dust bag is full, if so, replace
it with a new one.
2. Is the nozzle, tube or hose blocked?
3. Are the filters blocked?
Blockages, full dust bags, and dirty filters can result
in the machine switching off in operation due to
the restriction of air flow causing the activation of
the thermal overload. If this does occur, switch off
at both the cleaner and at the mains and remove
the plug.
Allow the cleaner to cool for 20 – 30 minutes, in
this time check the hose, tubes and floor nozzle for
blockages.
( a ) To check for a hose blockage pass a small
coin through it, on finding the blockage, remove
it by pressing the hose to dislodge and loosen the
obstruction. How ever be careful in the case it has
been caused by glass or needles caught inside the
hose at the point of the blockage.
( b ) By passing a hard flexible tube through the
hose from the handle end the obstruction can also
be dislodged and removed.
If the obstruction cannot be removed please consult
the customer service help line noted on the last page
of this instruction booklet.
The clearing of a blocked hose is not covered by
warranty.
Water has entered the vacuum cleaner.
It will be necessary to replace the motor by an
authorised Electrolux service agent. Damage to the
motor caused by the penetration of water is not
covered by the warranty.

4. You are respo nsibl e for payin g all ser vice c all fee s and/or
transp ort ch arges a nd/on dam ages an d loss incurred i n
conne ction wi th trans port ation of this appli ance to an d from
Electr olux or its duly ap pointed serv ice provider’s prem ises.

(v) normal wear and tea r
(vi ) power surges, electr ical sto rm dama ge or incorrect
power supply.
(vi i) incompl ete or improper ins tallat ion
(vi ii) inc orrect, i mproper or inap propriate oper ation
(ix) insect or vermi n infest ation.
B) The Appli ance is modified w ithout author ity fro m
Electr olux in writing.
C) The Applian ce’s seria l number or warra nty sea l has
been re moved or d efaced.
D) The Applia nce was se rviced or rep aired by a nyone
other than Elect rolux or i ts Autho rised Servi ce Centr es.
This warrant y, the contrac t to which i t relates a nd the
relationship b etwee n you and El ectrol ux are gove rned by th e
law appl icabl e in the Sta te where th e Appli ance is purchas ed
if the Ap plianc e is purchased in A ustral ia or the law applic able
in New Zea land if the Appli ance is p urchas ed there. Where th e
Appli ance is purchas ed in New Ze aland fo r busin ess pur poses
the Cons umer Gu arante e Act does not appl y.

To the extent pe rmit ted by law:
A) Electro lux exclu des all warrant ies othe r than as
containe d in this do cument;
B) Electrolu x shall n ot be liab le for any l oss or da mage
whether direct or in direct o r conse quenti al aris ing
fro m your pur chase, use or non-use of the Applian ce.
Provisi ons of the Trade P ractic es Act and State consumer
legis lation in Austral ia, and th e Consu mer Gua rantee s Act,
the Sale o f Goods Ac t and the Fa ir Trading Act i n New Zeal and,
imply wa rranti es or con ditions, or impo se obligations , upon
Electr olux wh ich can not be exclu ded, res tricted or modifi ed.
To the extent pe rmit ted by law, the liabilit y of Elec trolux (if any)
arisi ng out of or i n relatio n to the App liance or any ser vice s
supplied by Ele ctrolux shall be l imited (w here it i s fair and
reasonable to do s o),: in the case of A pplia nces, at i ts option,
to the repl aceme nt or repa ir of the Ap pliances or the s upply of
equiva lent products o r the payment of the co st of repl acing th e
Appli ances o r having the Appliances repaire d or of acquiring
equiva lent Ap plian ces. Upon being r eplaced, par ts and
